  1. Having read the full article, I'm still unclear what is actually going to happen. The 5 points all just sound like w@~k talk. Call me a cinic, but it all just looks like a load of back patting and pocket filing to me...
  2. Those 3 Pattaya pics are shameful, nobody can ignore that. But oddly enough, the people in charge do just that - ignore it.
  3. The reality is, that whilst there are some foreigners here who spend a lot, it's almost guaranteed that besides a few real tight <deleted>, or the destitute, every single westerner here spends more than the average Thai every month, am I wrong?
  4. On a positive note, for any digital nomads in my area, Internet really sped up! I doubt the 7eleven spaghetti art installation is the reason though...
  5. Here! See if I can rival it! This is outside a brand new 7eleven here in quite a nice part of Western Bangkok, it's not on the ground, but it's still highly suspect finishing. The problem is that until the people actually doing any of the finishing work care about what they're doing - which would take a monumental societal shift - nothing will change.
  6. I don't like casinos, I find them tacky & devoid of life, but cheap drinks, cheap food, walking out with empty pockets? Sounds like a wild night out for me ????
  7. I don't think I've ever seen anything move quite this fast here before!
  8. As my wife has started to say repeatedly every time we see someone doing something mindless here - 'that's why school is so important'. These prison sentences - whether 'served' or actually really served, will do little to prevent people doing mindless things. People need to understand what is right or wrong before they do something. Nobody I know would pick up a rifle and go to find a wild animal to kill for sport, especially an endangered animal in a protected area, because it's simply a mindless and an arrogant thing to do.
  9. Do you know if they are? They could simply be buying a famous name on reputation, it wouldn't be the first time an Asian nation had purchased something in reputation and history alone.
  10. Could be a sly move by the owners of Selfridges, what with dwindling high street sales in the UK on recent years.
  11. I'll answer my own question: Having googled 'flight from BKK to Vientiane' I see a warning sign which reads: 'Destination closed to entry.'. So what are they going on about then?
  12. I think I had a similar problem, another member on here suggested I try fitting a stop-valve(I think they called it that), you can get in the hardware shop, show them that video, it's simple enough to install.
  13. I just read in the Phnom Penh Post that there was a meeting held between Thai & Laos about opening up the land border to boost business etc, it was quoted that 'Thailand has already opened its borders to vaccinated foreign nationals, including from Laos, who can now enter the country without having to spend time in quarantine', does this mean I can leave Thailand, travel to Laos, get a new visa sorted, and return without the need for quarantine etc?...Excuse the silly question, especially considering I'm practically quoting the sentence that precedes my question...am I missing something? Do they mean just Laotians? Or anybody travelling from Laos? Has anybody done a visa run recently?
  14. I'm criticizing humanity, but anyway, you question my reason, then go on to back me up with your 'Thailand is usually about 20-40 years behind the West in many areas' ????
  15. This is one problem of using an agent - they seem to have you by the short and curlies when it's time to do it yourself...unless this was a one-off, and other people have had no issues getting the extension at CW having done previous reports/extensions at other immigration offices, any other experiences?
  16. Puangpetch Hengkham and Permsak Saeung absolutely should be able to have their marriage recognised, what century do we live in anyway? Don't answer that, it was rhetorical..open to legitimate sarcasm.
  17. Most of the vehicles I see painting the road with diesel smoke are pickups that have been modified to do exactly what the owner has paid for - to belch diesel smoke all over the place. If they can afford to modify it to do that, then they can afford to pay the fine. I find it rude that idiots think it's OK to kill me with their fumes, whilst coating me with black dust, perhaps they wouldn't mind if I redirected their exhaust into the cab of their truck?
  18. Prayut looks so smug, it must be all those trees he's saved... Oh, wait a minute ????
  19. I bought some patongo(fried dough thingies) yesterday, the paper inserted into the bag carrying them had some clearly sensitive credit card info on it, that's where these copies are kept.
  20. I took our son for his first Pfizer jab yesterday at Siriraj hospital, in and out in less than an hour. I also had 2 Pfizer jabs at MedPark hospital early and late Sept, and again, in and out in less than an hour, looks like we were lucky with our timing.
  21. If I wanted to buy a box of 100 latex gloves it'd cost me about B150 including shipping. This order of 500 MILLION BOXES, was priced at B225 per box, if I was buying 500 million of anything I'd expect a little discount, not farang pricing! That's just insulting!
  22. Is corruption as shameless as this in other countries? It just seems like they don't care how they enrich themselves, just as long as they can.
