  1. 'Monkeypox spreads in different ways. The virus can spread from person-to-person through: direct contact with the infectious rash, scabs, or body fluids. respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact, or during intimate physical contact, such as kissing, cuddling, or sex.' I particularly like the 'kissing, cuddling' part of monkey contact, although my rashes and scabs also need picking by the monkeys, that's fun also.
  2. He also said he wants to stop people selling garlands etc at red lights because it makes Thailand's economy look bad. A 'genuinely good man' would strive to make the economy better, as opposed to preventing poor people from making money simply to make Thailand's economy look better.
  3. Is it possible that indoor growing negates the need for pesticides so is more organic & is easier to control?
  4. I rode my mountain bike around Bangkok for 10 years without a problem, but nowhere I went in all those years was bicycle friendly, and I went all over the city. I'm not saying you're wrong, but you must have been to 5 of the most calm places in the entire kingdom.
  5. RIP. Saw one today on Borrom, near Phutthamonthon Sai 3, 4 pickups rear ended each other, the pickup at the back was a write-off(you'd hope, but who knows?) But anyhow, right there was a good reason to start monitoring and regulating(& enforcing regulation on) delivery vehicles, if not all commercial vehicles, then eventually private vehicles. Sadly, we all know this won't happen. (My visor is in the way because I've got my modular helmet up so I can get a breeze at slow speeds)
  6. I'm trying to make sense of allowing venues to open until 2am, but not later. I know it's an old chestnut but does covid wake up early?
  7. Was there a request by the consulate to view a flight ticket belonging to you too?(applying for a non O) Or just the other fella? (Presumably applying for a tourist visa)
  8. I've worn a mask(a buff, actually, but it serves the same purpose) constantly for the last 3 years, never below the nose, always properly, simply because I respected the Thais' wishes for us to wear one, but now I just can't, it's too hot. I'll keep the buff around my neck so whenever I'm in the market/7eleven/mall etc, and even when I'm near someone in public I can pull it up, but I refuse to wear one walking the dog on empty streets at 5am, riding my bikes on open roads, walking to the shops or post office, it's just completely pointless, and as someone said in a recent thread - nobody ever gets punished for not wearing a mask! I have noticed so many Thais not wearing them too, I don't feel like the odd one out, so that's it, I'm done(unless indoors in a public place). I think the 'rulers' have kept the mandate in place to keep the people happy, I honestly belive a majority of Thais are fine continuing to wear masks. Keeping the mandate was a political move. The people in charge are not at stupid as we think.
  9. My Mum visited from the UK recently, she was impressed with how we could pay for almost everything with a quick & simple scan, she said it's nothing like that back in blighty(I've no idea, thankfully I haven't needed to go back for years) So whomever is taking ages in the queue to pay for their goods is to blame - not the technology, the technology is just fine(and quick & simple).
  10. You never know, maybe somebody out there doesn't know what a toilet and table & chairs looks like, this bloke is just covering all the bases.
  11. Thanks, I think I'll go NR - Kalasin route on the way out as the road is bigger and hopefully less farm machinery..., and possibly the Surin or Buriram route on the way back.
  12. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm fine with big long highways as opposed to scenic routes, I realised there might not have been much to look at. Phimai historical park looks interesting, so does Buriram. Surin is just a bit too far off the main highways. Ignore that, Surin is an option too, I'm assuming Surin is a little bit more rural than Buriram? The route from Surin up to Muk looks a lot more rural, lots more dark green landscape... This route is looking the most likely, and perhaps I'll stop off at Khon Kaen and then Phimai on the return leg...
  13. I'm thinking of riding my motorbike up to Mukdahan from Bangkok in a couple of weeks time, there's a couple of things I'd like to know; Can anybody recommend somewhere to stay around half way there? I'd like to have a few beers and maybe play some pool, nothing too strenuous. I've checked Google Maps and there seems to be some roadworks just past half way on one of the most direct routes, has anybody done this route on a bike recently? Which route would you take for quality of roads and scenery?
  14. This is the best news I've read for 3 years! @ Davef2912 If you wouldn't mind(& haven't done so elsewhere), could you tell us what you had to show to the consulate? I'm worried I'll arrive with everything I've read & been told I need, only to be refused on something minor. Thanks in advance!
  15. My scorpion ADX-1 has excellent venting which can be felt when in motion, when at the lights my head remains cool. I bought this helmet because of the reviews regarding venting and I wasn't disappointed. However, it's a narrow fitting helmet, something to consider before buying.
  16. This is true, unless they were ten times their current size, then they'd want me to return so they could eat me, bum first.
  17. I've got a techalogic dc-1 dual forward and rear facing camera mounted on my helmet, traffic actively avoids me.
  18. Don't take everything so literally, you'll make yourself unhealthy.
  19. Just in case you didn't understand - there's always one like you.
  20. I obviously don't mean aircfraft noses and tails, I mean railings and ledges etc. There's always one.
  21. Another reason why I don't trust any structure built here. Like I always say when something like this happens - I always give a good push or pull on anything I'm about to risk my life on/near. Even our rented home - built to higher standards than most houses old and new here - was swaying from side to side when an excavator was pushing mud around 50 metres away ????
