1. How many operators, do they have a license. This will help them to be processed.

2.Who are those who work for them - paying tax? this will eliminate underaged rowdys who get away with the police taking no action.

3. Who are these owners - Name them! In this way those being protected by the big boys for their scams will also see themselves in the right picture.

Best Solution:

Locals seem unable to control the scam. Cease all Locally operated Jetski agencies. Give it to professional people who have their own repair shops and training in this. Let foreigners run this efficiently to meet the needs of their own people. Not put them in harms way and spoil their holiday. It seems really a problem in Pattaya.

Name and Shame: The expat community should begin filming and providing material to the tourist police who would catalogue and help tourist agencies avoid.

I, like tens of thousands of farangs, am resident here. Not a permanent resident, but resident nevertheless. We are required to report our residence every 90 days. If you are a tourist you may not understand that the majority of Thais do not love him. He is very popular with many northerners and Isaan people and huge numbers of the population of greater Bangkok like him.

His sister operates his government for him while he simmers in Dubai and other exotic locales.

You have every reason to have your doubts. Your probably about to get scammed like alot of foreigners have in the past 40 years by Thai women. If you can afford to lose what you have in it lick your wounds and run as fast as you can BEFORE you lose everything you have worked so hard for. We have a saying here in Thailand, if you feel like your about to get scammed, you are...trust me...and you already feel it. Run dude, leave her behind because you are feeling it for a reason. I have been married to a "good" Thai lady for 23 years, her family loves me and never asked for a dowry or even any money even though we give her parents money to live on. NEVER give her relatives money or they will be back for more...trust me. Thailand is going to hell in a hurry and there will be bloodshed if Thaksin is let back in.....take a look in Da Nang Viet Nam, its much better there and as soon as we are done taking care of my wifes parents we are moving there. Lower cost of living and most ladies are honest and will take much better care of you. Run, don't walk!

When I signed a heap of documents in Chiang Mai (all in Thai) translated to me by my ex-wife (then pregant with our son)... I thought I was signing (as she said) for the house, land, etc.. it turned out I was signing documents to the effect that; I had not contributed any funds towards the purchase of the "real estate" and all funds towards the purchase was from my ex-wife.

It can be done. There are a number of "Visa Agencies" that will prepare all the documents that embassies normally require including the employment details.

Just last week a guy (we got to know) wanted to take a girl he met at a bar to Australia. He engaged the services of an agency, they did all the paper work including here employment status as an office girl and voila 3 month Visitor Visa. I am not sure what fee he paid but he did NOTHING and his girl simply received a call to verify some details and ... it was approved.....

From personal experience:

Where there is a child involved, they will need a Passport to travel.

If the child has a passport then you may apply for a Visa at the same time as your fiance.

If there is no travel document (passport) the child must apply for one.. by it's parents.

Now there is a father somewhere, so the authorities will ask for his (father's) authority as well before issuing a passport.

One of my ex's (Thai) is stuck in Thailand 12 years now because I will not sign the Passport application so she can move to China with her new boyfriend. I don't like the idea of my son dissapearing in China...!!!!

She had me removed from the birth certificate but somehow they still know I am the father (original hospital records maybe) and the authorities will not issue a passport if I do not sign.

He's a stone cold murderer and deserves the death penalty for what he did to that beautiful innocent young woman. Seventeen stabs to her body, he's an animal, my heart goes out to her family, rip.

It's called triagulation... pretty old technique that can pin point exactly where you if your mobile is on. You don't even need to be using your phone. Even if you change your sim card they can still triangulate as you phone bursts out a signal (with your phone's IME, which is unique for every phone) frequently to nearby transmitters to keep you on line. So... throw away your phone if you are on the run... changing sim cards wont help....

One more potentially IMPORTANT point.

If they do not have a Thai visa already, it's possible that either their airline in Oz, or Thai Immigration at Swampy, might not allow them to travel. UNLESS they have a ticket or reservation IN HAND showing departure from Thailand within that 30-day block of time.

So, having a Tourist visa, good for 60-90 days, is just less hassle all around.
