  1. 1. They ousted the French Supermarket chain "Auchun" in the early 2000's by planting a bomb in their Chiang Mai store killing several innocent people. (I knew the French Manager there, the guy ran for his life back to France)... and suddenly Auchun became Big C overnight...<img class="bbc_emoticon" alt="<_<" src="http://static.thaivisa.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif"> <br><br><br>2. They told Pizza Hut to get stuffed and took over all their stores as Pizza Company. Never paid the Franchise Fees! Told all suppliers not to supply Pizza Hut...that is why Pizza Company tastes more Pizza Hut than Pizza Hut.<br><br><br><br>Is there anything honest happenning in Thailand that would assure foreign invetors to invest without the risk of being jailed simply for investing.<br><br><br><br>Arghhhhhhhhh! 2. Why would anyone want to visit, let alone live, in a corrupt cesspool like Thailand ? Admit it guys, you are all there primarily for the culture.....bwaaahaaaahaaa.

Yes, I spent 12 months over a 3 year period living it up. But trust me guys, if you get back to civilization and get a REAL girlfriend your self-respect CAN be revived.

I spent 100 or so months over ten years, you just have to take Thailand for what it is. Use your brain, stay out of trouble, let go of control, take advantage of all great benefits and let the other bull roll of your back.

No doubt the greatest reason for living in Thailand is the women and some real loser men end up in Thailand to do nothing but chase bar girls. But those guys were losers before the came here to, who cares, they are certainly not every man who moved to LOS.

Truth is, if you happen to not be a loser, and if you are a clever guy that can make a good life for himself in the West, you may be able to double down here in Thailand.

    Hmm........! Sound like confessions.....

  3. Being married to a Thai and being single again with children of Thai Nationality is viewed different by Thai Immigration.

I have been married 3 times with 6 children.

While I was married: No problem Immigrant "O" Visa anywhere was granted, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, etc.

When I was on the single list regardless of the number of children I had it was a "NO" everywhere. You need a valid Marriage Certificate to get the Visa.

I also noticed that every time they required a letter from my current wife stating that we were still married and living together. If I had no letter they would clal her and ask her a series of questions and then she had to fax a ltter to that effect.

It is not a new law it has been like that for the last ....well I've been there in and out 30 yeras...

Married No problem... smiles Visa granted...

Single with Thai kids.... NO WAY.... Tourist Visa or go and get married again!

GF does not qualify, you can get many of these anywhere in Thailand.

  4. Ehm... guys.... My son who was married to a Thai and divorced.. thus could not apply for an Immingrant "O" visa nay longer; could only enter Thailand as many times as he liked and get the appropriate stay at the airport without any Visa.

In the case of Australian passport 28 days. Furthermore he would only be allowed to enter Thailand as long as the commulative total stay over a year was not more than 6 months.

I think this rule still apllies. That is you can enter Thailand; do your border hops before your Visa expires; as long as you are not in Thailand for more than 6 months of a Year.

The move was to stop people just on plain Tourist Entry Visas staying in Thailand forever by doing border hops.

  5. Well, yeah... at least this one doesn't sound like a scam... Right, they fell off but did they have the safety band tied around their wrist that was supposed to pull the key off and shut off the engine? I guess we will never know all the details as here in LOS I never heard of any sort of proper investigation to find all the truth. We will never know if the tourist failed to use the safety feature of if it was mulfunctioning.

One thing I am sure - the machine didn't keep going at a full speed after they fall off. That would indicate a stuck throttle and they would have discovered it as soon as they get on the machine. So EVEN IF the safety device mulfantioned, the speed of the machine would have dropped significantly after they "fell off". If it kept going at the full speed towards the rocks, it means they were flying towards the rocks like retards and they "fell off" in the last second...

Well yeah it does.... Anywhere else but Thailand they (the opertaors) would have been up for a huge PUBLIC LIABILITY suit!

"Why didn't it stop?",..."we don't know about that"... the opeartor couldn't care less that he is renting out faulty equipment. The jet ski should have a safety cord so that if the rider falls off it stops. Imagine if this jet ski mowed over swimmers! What then! We don't know about that... Lock the prick up..

and be of all...."I am also losing rental income that I need to feed my family. I think I will have to take out a bank loan to cover all the repair costs," he said. ..... more like to pay of the cops!

Sorry but THAILAND you have lost the plot!

  6. We have been away from Thailand for a few years straight. We returned two weeks ago to visit relatives here.

    Remembering Thailand how it used to be; two things really stand out;

    1. Thailand seems a lot cooler. Normally in Bangkok it was consistently hot. We have hardly turned on the airconditioner since being here. Is it cooler or just us?

    2. The streets seem to be deserted especially of foreigners. Walking around Silom Day or night there seems to be a big absence of foreigners. The once usually packed street, cafes and go go bars are all but empty. What happened?

Maybe if we were here continuously we would not have noticed any gradual changes, but coming back after a few years these changes really stand out.

  7. If I was pissed out of my mind, my room would not be neat and tidy!

Bleed to death from the back...hahahhahahaha!

Good one. How in the #$%ck can the wound be deep enough to bleed to death even from a bottle IN the back? They could said his thigh where main Aortas run...

    Bloody hell...

Hey you guys stop killing yourselves in Thailand... it doesn't look good for all us piss pot farangs!

  8. Water heaters for the police? Poor guy was being nice with the wife taking all the glory! She already had the police eating out of her ha nds. Ahhh... Such a story heard so many times, again, and again and again....

She looks familiar, origin Si SA KET was married to anothe Brit.....

She'll get away with it, she did already.... and the Tahi husband (hahah claiming boyfriend) was always around I'll bet .....

    Wake up FARANGS!......

  9. If the facts are as stated then she fought off a rapist who happened to be her estranged husband. The rapist died in the ensuing fight, self defense.

Just a though, but what if

She murdered him then bit off his xxx in a vindictive rage, then stabbed herself in the arm to make it look more real.

As he died before the divorce she gets everything ..... no witness to say what happened. Murder.

Oh sorry, forgot this is ThaiVisa ........ Man always bad/wrong ... Woman always good/right

    Agree.....

Too bad the other side of the story will never be heard!

The murderer and her FATHER can say any version she likes to justify herself.

  10. Hi aussietintin,

Have known tgf 15 mths great honest girl anyway i would like to bring them both out and let tgf look at australia and see what she thinks

and then make plans from there after she has done the tr visa thing ..

as to your question i would like to bring them out for 3mths to give her a good feel for the way we aussies do things and let her make her own mind up if Aus is for her or not

if so then i will make plans to start the ball rolling for them both to move over

    cheers

    How old is the child?

Are you shown as the father on the birth certificate?

This certifucate needs to be translated (if you are the father on it), notarised by the Thai Foreign Affairs, the submitted to the Australian Embassy is Bangkok. Thechildwill get his Citizenship by Descent nstantly (if you are the father) and subsequently be issued an Australian Passport.

If you have been with this woman for 2 years she qualifies as a "De Facto"so it should it no be a problem.

I went through the same thing. Got my gor;friend a Visa while still legally marrued to another Thai lady... just told them the truth that I was seprated and not yet divorced.

The TRUTH and honesty goes a long way with embassy staff. If they detect deception... you're done for....

  11. Depends on the guys appeal I suppose.... if a lady doent want to go it could be any price! But when i was there we had taken many a lady out for B500 and the rest was free ... of course we dined and danced all night! Before retiring .... we had girls that stayed with us fordays on end... because we ll just had a good time....!!!!! They were not from not from any small soi, try Bed Club, Novotel, Colloseum, German Pub... just a to name a few... and yes there are girls in BKK with a bar fine nor a price tag... if you know where to look... habe you tried the factories in the outskirts of Bangkok a lot of good girls there as well... marriage material... BKK is not just small soi's.

    LMAO, ok "sexy" man

I hope you are aware there is no bar fine in Bed club or Novotel, so how did you manage to pay the bar fine and who took the payment?

As for getting it free from Novotel, you must be a really really really sexy men. Did you get any "freebies" from Nana disco also?

These clubs are not the "bar fine" category...

Bar fines...try patpong, two streets up the japanese bars, nana, Anywhere in Pattaya or Phuket, etc...

We would only frequest these "joints" when a new mate arrived in town as they wanted to see what it was all about, starting with Kangaroo Bar blow jobs...

When you stay in Thailand for a while the novelty wears off....

.... and no you dont ned to be a sexy man.... these ladies know who has been there for a while....you just need some personality ... not just a big wallet to flash around...

    Oh ok, thanks for clarification.

I thought there had to be something wrong with me that i could not get it for free from the prostitutes, so its the lack of personality.

Will try to provide them with a boyfriend experience next time, may be they will pay me.biggrin.gif

If you have been in Thailand as long as you sound, geehz....... there are a lot of office girls that just want friends and a good time, not boyfriend experience, just friends...... but you wont find them in Patpong or nana...

Oh yeah... office girls actually pay for dinners and drinks too!.....

  13. Lets look at some facts

Thailand was a very popular holiday destination for 2 reasons. The nature/weather and the cost of holiday.

The cost has gone up by 30%-50% due to exchange rates and growing prices in Thailand

While the nature and weather is still on offer, there are also a number of issues such as scams, riots, instability etc.

All at the same time, there are new places such as Cambodia, Vietnam and few others, who offer the same experience but a cheaper rate.

Sex tourism is still doing ok, however more and more sex tourists are discovering new destinations where they do not get fleeced and the costs are actually cheaper then Thailand.

So put everything into one basket and you have a problem.

Thailand should either move to be an upscale holiday destination, but that means "taking care" of all the scams and problems or go back to a cheap affordable destination.

Talking about scams, i mate of mine here in Brisbane has been chatting with a bar girl and being young, in love and bloody stupid, he is about to spend time in Bangkok and wants to meet her at the airport on arrival. She says OK Darling 'up to you' but she works in a Jap Karioke bar and has told him that he will have to pay a bar fine if she comes to the airport..............guess what ...Bht 1500, yes thats correct. He asked me "whats a bar fine" lololololol

Your mate is getting done! As if you didn't know it!

Bar fine is money the girls pay to leave the bar in compensation for lost business by the girl not being there to suck customers into buying drinks for themeselves and her and her friends and everyone...

Bar fine is B 500 maximum

B 1000 is if you want to go for a quickie!

So unless she gives him a quickie as well he is better off going to any bar.. he willget a better one and cheaper!!!!!

What dump would that be from???

May be little beer bar in the back of the soi.

Bar fine for a decent bar or GoGo for an nice looking girl is 600-1000 baht.

For BKK girl working Jap bar, a quickie would be nothing under 2000 baht plus the bar fine, but more likely to be 4000-6000 plus a bar fine

Depends on the guys appeal I suppose.... if a lady doent want to go it could be any price! 15. I have resided in Thailand for 13 years and have been in the tourism business for all of that time. i have noticed only one year that we did not have some problem that was reported internationally. From scams and ripoffs to Sars, chicken flu and violent politics this country is determined to destroy itself. Corruption is more prevalent than before and I personally have watched as the police will not help law abiding citizens and they police kowtow to "influential people" who are ripping off everyone including Thais. If the good people of this country don't stand up and fight back soon then visitors are going to shy away from here and go to other east Asian countries.

I agree on this ... I have been living and working here for 17 years and I have the impression that renewing my visa , work permit etc .. is harder and harder ..Now they give me 30days ....then one year as new policy , strange after so many years. Do they do the maximum to send us back to our countries ? If so , I would suggest a return of all Thais living abroad as well. There are still good things of course and the kindness of the people is still here , specially up country ( not phuket, pattaya, samui or tourists spots). I dont think to pay another expensive huge tourism campaign around the world will help either. Time for a serious cleaning if you dont want to see the tourists go in some other places. After all there will always be "single men" to enjoy Thailand.

    here, here.....

I lived in Thailand from 1996 till 2008 my Thai wife and child born there (2000) came to Australia in 2008 with me.... honestly they never want to go back to Thailand... like they say... for what? Quality of life?

oh.... and with all the fuss in Thailand, we were directed by the Australian Immigration to Malaysia to apply for my wifes spouse visa... it was done/approved in 1 month. I think if we did it in Thailand I guess we still would have been waiting...

    Thailand.........hmmm!

  16. 10 to 15 degrees is not 'freezing'.

Sounds like a bad but average summer in Sweden! 5555 :whistling:

It's the humidity factor that compounds the feeling of cold. Having lived in Hong Kong and Thailand for more than 3 decades ... it is cold... in Hong Kong 15 degrees is freezing... the cold humidity gets the cold right to your bones... it's hard for one to understand that has lived in a dry climate... when I am in Australia ... especially Melbourne 15 degrees is beach weather... but humidity is 20% not 90%....
