There's a half-asleep half-red-bulled half-whiskyed cop on the corner of my soi whose packing a very nice and shiny Berretta. No one - neither the kids racing Scoopyi motorbikes or the old grannies hefting their veggies back from the market - gives him or his gun a second thought.
Mind you, I expect he's never fired it, never cleaned it (apart from polishing the outside), certainly never oiled it, and the rounds have been in the mag so long that the spring is absolutely buggered!
Beilieve it or not but they are not allowed to walk around with the guns loaded. They can only keep them there unloaded and the shots in the box.

"putting the national food supply in jeopardy"?
;-) I had to read this two time´s ;-) And obviously you did as well. How does that work??? hahaha
I don´t know how many time´s I read the new´s over here and think "wait is it April the first" and i´m not joking.

Exactly, what is the problem. Just write it down on a paper. Internet is not safe for things like that.
It amazes me that anybody would trust their passwords and any personal information to be managed by someone else, especially a web site.
No kidding. Write them down, pad and paper. You can't hack that, just keep it in the safe from your G/F

So true, this is only a part of the accidents and deaths for sure.
what was the figure last year to this year
In 2010, there were officially 361 deaths and 3,802 injured during Songkran.
But the actual numbers may be a lot higher given the pressure on each province
to reduce deaths and accidents each successive year.

hahahahahahaha this is just funny, The burdens will go to philipines or somewhere else and the government will wake up with a bad dream, "what did you say, they stop building grandma´ villa? why? because the stupid falang go out of Thailand and not pay anymore Oh pajao" ;-)
-
It´s a shame to have a man like this representing Thailand. Even though he does´nt like western people he SHOULD be clever enough to shut his mouth, but he obviously is not. And he´s working for the government. What a pitty.
-
I read it the same way but still it´s a little confuseing so let´s hope like you say we are reading it wrong. ;-)
This looks like a fee increase to me. I have never been charged a same bank ATM fee for cash withdrawls, if within the same province. Now a fee will be charged after you've used the ATM four times in one month?
edit: nevermind, I think I read it wrong. Looks like same bank, same province withdrawls are still free?

Global cooling!

So he wasn't robbed then? Thus the motive for murder was something else? Who carries around 22k baht (unless you are going to buy something expensive but then you can get a bank cheque or use a credit/debit card).
No wallet. Who goes ANYWHERE without a wallet? So chances are he WAS robbed since the wallet was gone, but they didn't think to check his shorts. However, robbery may or may not have been the motive.
I go everywhere whithout wallet and I have done since I started to go anywhere with money and I know many people that do, so what is wrong with that??

Thx for the pix. They help many to understand how the device actually works....
So we all ought to protect our own cards and money and properties.... so others can not steal anything from us.
With a little bit of advance planning I actually only use ATM's that are inside banks. Most of those are under surveillance by guards and therefore scammers have view possibilities to install their devices.
Yes good Idea, just use indoor ATM´s under survailance/security. Everybody should keep that in mind and thanks for the tips.

Wow how I feel the same way. It´s just annother something something and I don´t even blink. Could not agree more. It´s also true that is sad.
The sad thing is, I have become numb to this sort of news. I expect it, I know the answer before I get to the end of the first paragraph. I don't even blink anymore!
I hope I become more compassionate when I move back to the UK.

A good start might be taking a bulldozer through places like Pattaya. Round up all the bargirls on the streets. Quality tourists don't flock to Thailand for ladyboys and the sex industry.
Good start would be to get rid of people like you who complain about everything. Is Pattaya the only place to wisit in Thailand? Don´t you just go visit the town/city where there is something for you to see or do? Maybe you want to make Disney world in every town and city and everybody will be happy. Open your eye´s. People like different things. I love Pattaya the way it is and I know hundreds of people who agree on the same. Go somewhere else if you don´t like it here.

My guess is that Thais identify very little with Muslims ruled by dictatorships.
The Thais might bring down the government, but it will have little to do with Egypt.
Couldn´t agree more..

sounds like a good discription of marriage to me
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GENIUS ;-)

Thai police failed to establish a legal case.
Disgusting beyond belief.
I wish the two friends all the very best of luck and hope you get justice for Raymond.
I totally agree with you KASABIAN. Fight for him and make all the world see what´s happening so it should be fair judgement. Good luck and all the best for you guy´s.

I think it would be cheaper and more benificial to Pattaya if they kept the mafia and got rid of the corrupt Police and Officials who are killing this country
Wouldn't you have to get rid of the corrupt politicians first or is that who you mean by 'officials'?
International gangsters are everywhere, nothing new. Why is Samui never mentioned when we talk about gangsters in Thailand. Report in the Observer had a higher ratio of 'bar girls' per head of pop. in Samui than in Pattaya (and more guns). A log of the dregs shifted from Phuket to Samui after the 'big wave' hit.
Is Samui really so bad? 20 years ago, there wasn't even a massage parlour on the island or a sigle go-go bar! Haven't been there for more than 10 years now! And Koh Tao? Koh Samet? Kog Chang (Taksin's VIP-tourism preference...)
20 years ago??? Do you really think nothing has changed in 20 years??? or you mention both 20 and then 10 but I think everybody should know everything changes here every year even every month or week. And having a massages or a go go is a bad thing??? which planet are you from??? themostcivilisedplanetoftheuniverse which hates everything good (or as you would call it bad)

I´m shocked to see this. Very sad.

Gemini81 I coldn´t agree more, they are the nicest people and I´ve 95% of the times is went there got good service and kind staff. Kuffki stop whining and jagging and just go back to your home if 7/11 is better there.
why not involve family mart also, well everywhere there is a seven, family mart is few meters away, so what´s the deal??? I haven´t seen tailors on every corner like you say all over Mapprachan lake or anywhere around there. Have a good day ;-)
1. As someone already mentioned staff at 7-11 hardly speak any English
2. So a victim is to walk around from 7-11 to 7-11 trying to find which one can help?
3. Whats the kickback to 7-11?
4. What would be a response time? 24 hours?
5. What about Family Marts? why not involve them and also may be the tailors, since there is one on every corner.
Now they say staff have undergone special training, what training was that? Police does not have any training, so what did they teach the 7-11 staff? How about having the "great little helpers" the farang volunteers stay at those 7-11, since there is no shortage of them trying to get in.
I dont know what you're all b*tching about, they offer to HELP police, not take over their duties. they hire pretty good people and screen thoroughly. if you cant find police, 7 11 is a good place to check.
why all the unecessary and untrue negative remarks? Why so many complaints? why not just go back to your homeland then?
