  1. Sorry folks I dont mean to gloat, but I warned of this event 6 months ago when the drought was in full force and La Nina was growing.

I am a boy scout and the motto is "be prepared" clearly my warning was not taken seriously here or when I posted a message to the meteorological society of Thailand. I was ignored and I did not get any replies.

This is not over, did you ever see a floating taxi on Sukhumvit? You will hang around. The next wave of rains are expected to bring 5 inches per hour you wont like this much but it is already in the making. It may not happen, but what the heck?

    "be prepared"

Be prepared, ok let´s put floating equipment on the taxis and what else whistling.gif

  2. When isn´t it a joke over here???

four years in prison OR a 40,000-baht (1,280-dollar) fine. Something ridiculously stupid with the Thai fine rates.

The cub would have died in the -40C in the cargo hold, if not of asphyxiation. She deserve the 4 years IMO.

Or adjust the exchange rates to the dollar so that 40,000 represents the "value" of 4 years prison.

How many animals died today just to supply you with food?

What does the state of emergency mean to a tourist, for example? Is there a night curfew? Can one please tell me what to expect,in a few words, as I am coming to Bangkok early September for one month? Are there any tourists now? I am familiar with 'normal' Bangkok of course as I visit almost every year. I will appreciate any short info

    Thank you

Well no there is not a lot of tourists now and everybody I know complain about that, sadly for them.annoyed.gif

  4. He has committed murder and should be treated the same as any Thai that commits the same crime at home.

there are many Thai murders walking the streets of Thailand after only serving very short sentances...... ( and some without even serving a prison sentance )

Couldn´t agree more with you Boater, even I know a guy who just finished his sentence couple of months ago but never went to prison, he was just suppose to keep low profile and was not allowed to travel abroad.

He had cash and a good lawyer ;-) smile.gif

would travel insurance pay out if you get scammed?

I guess because they went to the cops, a travel insurance would have to pay for a new ticket. But like all insurance companies it could take a long time. The scary thing is that they let this bastard go, maybe to make some more cash? I guess he won't wait for any cops and I'm pretty sure that he knows some of them pretty well.

I hope that all will find a way to get their tickets back. It's so easy to check it out, right after booking.

All you need is to call the company to ask them if your name's on the passengers list for flight ##### to Ripfarlangoffland, or elsewhere. They'll have the confirmation right after the ticket is paid. Another, very easy way would be to book on line, or at a place where they issue real tickets, not just a piece of paper.

Well!!!!!! When is the ticket NOT A PIECE OF PAPER???????? Do they have plastic tickets?? ;-)

Although I feel sorry for those people.

  6. Don't drink.

    Don't care!

Well you should drink and then you would have something better to do with your time, instead of posting about things that don't concern you. It is often said never trust a man that doesn't drink as he has something to hide. Which begs the question what r u hiding, over here in the land of smiles and don't drink. Mmmm i wonder.

I couldn´t agree more, NEVER EVER trust a men who doesn´t drink. Been there and try´d it but will never trust people like that again.

And another thing what date is it today again :):D :D :D

  7. Street meat has an adverse effect on the real cash cow in the bars. Its going back to the way things where, no free enterprise, you work, you pay,..soon we will see the return of std cards. They were vary useful to police in need of cash. My wife was once held up for 500 baht for being with a white man and not having a card. The fact we were married and she was 8 months along made no difference. Your really going to enjoy the up coming police state.

std card???? you talk about ID Card or??? I´ve never heard story like that but somehow it doesn´t surprise me at all. But still an insult to you and your wife I would say.
