I've no problem showing funds and of course using a 30 day on arrival is an option, however it seems a little silly to me that I can't get a single entry 60 day tourist visa issued in Manila.
Another country is not an option for me as I actually have to go to Manila for reasons other than just the visa.
Anyway I have a hunch the thai bank book will swing it for me this time.

So no-one reading has suceeded in getting a tourist visa issued in Manila ? I would have thought it a very popular place for visa runs.
I'll try the thai bank book and perhaps open a phillipino account as well this time round and see if that works.

I'm a Brit who was refused a tourist visa by the thai embassy in Manila last year on the grounds I couldn't prove sufficient funds for the trip, they wouldn't accept cash, trav chex, credit cards as proof.
Does anyone know exactly what they will accept as evidence of funds ?
Do I need to show them a thai bank book with say 100k baht in it ?

Well Ok everyone says to run away, well there is another side to that option. A pedestrian who I was arguing with ( because she was blocking my path ) kicked the side of my car as I drove past. Several hours later 3 unmarked police vehicles turned up at my house and I was arrested at gunpoint, the pedestrian had claimed I had attempted to murder her by running her down with my car. She had faked a leg injury and even been to a doctor etc etc When I got to the police station in soi 9 the police produced a witness to the whole imaginery affair who they claimed was a plainclothes cop, he was not at the scene ( of that i'm 100 % certain ) bottom line they said they would arrest me on hit and run, and attempted murder unless I coughed up 40 K baht within 30 minutes.
They kept my passport but allowed me to visit a friend to 'borrow' the money'. The Captain who was running the show is still at Soi 9 and I often see him involved in arrests of Falangs on tv. I had considered going to the tourist police while I was supposed to be getting the dough but I was too scared to do so.

does anyone here own a honda jazz, if so how much and what are they like.
cheers
I bought one in UK earlier this year, and I really liked it. Live in london so speed bump and camera situation makes performance irrelevant these days. Huge amounts of legroom even 4 up ( i'm over 6ft and wide n heavy )
In thai they are 25% cheaper for same spec, I plan on buying a second one here soon.
Put a nice set of 17 + rims on and they look damned handsome :-)

News on DJ :-
"Guys,
We just got back from Bangkok and I can confirm that DJ will be travelling to Essen, Germany to attend FIBO - 22-25th April 2004.
He will be guest posing on both Saturday and Sunday (12noon and 3:45pm on both days) of the event in Hall 7 and will be around the Weider booth (7/7082) at various times during the 4 days of the event.
He is looking forward to meeting his fans who have been so supportive over the past few months, so please drop by. For people unable to attend, I’ll try to get some cool pictures and post them when we get back.
