  1. Good luck in using the many suggestions here and R.I.P. to your father

Slightly off topic but for those of you not interested in what happens to you after you pass, why not donate your body to a teaching hospital?  I had mine set up with Chulalongkorn Hospital where they will use your body for their medical students, you can chose to send the ashes to someone or they will dispose of them after a small ceremony.

Do good for future generatuons and avoid all the hassle!

  2. Good information!

But what do you actually need to get out of Thailand on a plane - just your certificate (providing the airline will accept it)?  Do you actually need the booklet, especially if you are returning to your home country and may not return?

Must I go in person since I am whelchair bound now?  Hate making out a power oattorney and will they accept that without a lawyer's/government stamp?

  3. The first time I went to Central LP was in the mid 90's - WOW, some big changes since then.

The flood of 2011 was something but the worst rain storm I have ever encountered here was in May 1995 - I was at a restaurant near Sukhumwit 39.  Going in to eat the water was still on the soi, when we came out it was up to the door sill.  I took off my shoes (they were a new pair of Clarkes), hung them around my neck and walked all the way to the railroad tracks on Ploenchit before the water was shallow enough for any traffic and found a taxi to take me home.  The taxi floor was flooded with water!  There were pictures in the paper showing the water up to the seats in the bus stops, people just standing on them rather than sitting.  I think they had about 15-17 inches of rainfall in that storm which lasted about 24 hours.

Boeing surpressed internal concerns on the max.  Something is wrong when a company can pay 2 billion in fine for the max problem and stay afloat.  Just to much profit in prices these companies imho.  Translates to overcharged consumers.

They may have but here we are talking about a 27 year old aircraft whose estimated useful expectancy was 25 years!  And even at 25 years if something goes wrong, it seems more reasonable to investigate more recent checkups - there are an estimated 2000+  Boeing 737's prior to the Max that have been produced so they must have done something right!  Lets see where the investigation goes before heaping blame on the manufacturer.

  5. Of Course, blame Boeing!  No chance that the entity that was to perform maintenance was to blame on an old aircraft!  But then, this is South or SouthEast Asian where the concept of preventative maintenance is a meaningless phrase to 99% of the population!

Similarly, I suppose a 70 year old person will find some way to blame the delivering doctor or midwife (if any was used) for all their physical problems now!

  6. "The very sad truth is that the (woefully inadequate) security measures were deemed adequate because the demonstrators were white.

When Black people/BLM held a demonstration in the same location, heavily armed soldiers were posted on the steps, literally."

The fact is the Capitol Police are thoroughly trained in public relations apart from usual police duties since primarily their work brings them in contact with tourists and visitors to the Capitol.  Their first instinct is to try and calm people down with courteousness which usually works but unfortunately this time they were dealing with typical Trump supporters who cannot be reasoned with.

I also think there is a plus side to their actions as had they been typical city policemen without that special training, there might have been a massacre in the Capitol with hundreds of deaths and many, many injuries.  It had nothing to do with the color of anyone's skin as some of the media who are only concerned about their TV ratings would have you believe.

  7. Wonder who these companies are but doubt we will find out!

Anti-dumping duty is a tariff imposed on imports manufactured in foreign countries that are priced below the fair market value of similar goods in the domestic market. The government imposes anti-dumping duty on foreign imports when it believes that the goods are being “dumped” – through the low pricing – in the domestic market. Anti-dumping duty is imposed to protect local businesses and markets from unfair competition by foreign imports.

  8. Why is it so necessary to explain with all the holding companies such as BTS, BEM, MRT , BES as very few reading this news will care (except the companies involved who want their names in print.)  Why not say the connection between the yellow line and the green line will cause a loss of revenue on whatever, then put a picture/diagram of the lines involved and all will be told so simply?

  9. AIS is a good company however they will still not give you fibre internet service in an apartment/condo building unless they wire the entire building.  I have offered to pay for wiring into my apartment but the answer was no!  Same as back in the US 35-40 years ago, only if they got the whole building wired would you be able to get cable service.
