  1. I know it has been explained somewhere but I cannot find it.  How do you print out an approved 90 onlinereport after your receive an email saying it was approved.

"When an application has been approved, the applicant should print out his/her receipt of notification via www.immigration.go.th , bangkok.immigration.go.th .This receipt will also show the next due date of notification and the applicant must keep it in the passport in case of being"ecked by the officer."

I cannot find any kind of way to print the new form out.  Thanks for any help!

  2. Today I went to CW for my yearly extension.  FYI, I haven't had a problem in the past 15 years using my monthly income as my source of funds.  Unbeknownst to me , in order to get a full years worth of statements showing international transfers, I would need to submit an application and wait 3-4 days.  OK, my bad.  I tried for the extension anyway, using the six months of statements that the bank in CW could print but the IO told me that I needed the full years statement, and IN ADDITION, I would need a document from my bank in the US stating they had made the international transfers!!  This may be a b---h to get, especially since BKK Bank NY discontinued their transfer service in December whereby I had to send money to a friend to send over as an international transfer from his bank for December and now using Transferwise for January and all future transfers.

Has anyone else ever been told they need a letter from their foreign bank regarding the transfers and if so, can they tell exactly what to ask for and/or in what format!

    Thanks!

To get "the equivalent of the paper slip showing the next report date you used to get when reporting in person", he should not download/print the approved report. What he needs to do is to print "The Next Appointment" (second bottom).

Where does the appproval show up, in an email? I see nothing on the site that looks like the green box, nor anything in the site that shows where to look for it.  Please advise : I received my printout with a barcode and all the info but that's about all - My due date is the 16th of this month and I filled the application out on the 6th.  Any suggestions, please?

If deposit is from their Bangkok Bank account into your Bangkok Bank account it is recorded as a foreign transfer.  But they use three different banks here so should select Thailand stay as the reason for transfer when asked making the transfer to make sure they try to use the Bangkok Bank account.  No guarantee but in past year of using no reports of it not working.  They also have downloads of the transfers which some immigration officers seem able to accept.

Thanks for the help,  I do use Bangkok Bank here for my main account so hopefully that will work out.

  6. I called Bangkok Bank NY office and they told me the new regulations went into effect at the end of November.  They do have a routing number for 'Wire Transfers' from US banks - 026008691 but I have not tried it.

Regarding Transferwise, when deposited in a bank here is it noted as a 'Foreign Transaction' or must you keep other records to prove this.  My extension is up for renewal in a couple of months and don't want to get caught without proper paperwork. Thanks!

  7. I tried again last week to do my 90 day online - usual problem, it didn't work - on either Chrome or Edge (or whatever MS is calling it now).   Glad some people can!

Not to mention some of the instructions are confusing.  I managed once, about two years ago but never received a confirmation e-mail or notification other than it had been accepted for processing.  Took a trip to CW and was told it had been received OK but I never received, nor could find, any record on line to copy for my passport.  The IO said all was fine and printed me out a new copy.

Remember the lottery seller that won many millions, then she and her husband were killed riding a motorcycle upcountry.  RIP  No mention (I think) was ever made of working or non working tail lights.

  9. Difficult to come up with a name for the present occupant of the WH without being derogatory.  I voted against him and shall do so next time, provided I am still around, as I cast my first vote at age 24 for Dwight Eisenhower.  If he has the temerity ("balls" in the USA) to try to continue on his path of destruction for my beloved county (no matter where I choose to live, that being one of the greatest values of being a citizen) many sound headed, thinking folks will also renounce him.

Your column is a must for me every week - please keep up the good work

Really spot on. As was Mr. White in his comment.

    Noticeable changes here.

Contact HQ Bangkok Bank at below 02 phone numbers (English speaking reps available at these numbers) or Bangkok Bank New York at the below email address.  In either case give them your name as it appears on your bank account, bank account number, approx date and amount of last transfer.  Ask them if the transfer arrived in ACH "IAT" format or not?

The answer is most likely going to be that the transfer did "not" arrive in IAT format.

No known US bank/credit union for retail accounts uses ACH "IAT" format for international transfers; instead they use Wire transfers (a.k.a., SWIFT for international transfers).

This means you will need to start using Int'l Wire/SWIFT from your US bank...you may also be able to do a domestic wire to the Bangkok Bank NY branch.....or use a money transfer service like Transferwise, OFX, etc.

Thanks for this - it should help many of us.

  11. Still awfully confusing to many of us.  My bank in the US has allowed me to transfer my funds from their bank to BKK Bank and my account here with no fees.  I set this transferability up several years ago but I have no idea what kind of transfer it is, my bankbook here shows the FTT code for incoming.  My Pensions come to my US bank and I transfer them monthly to BKK Bank just clicking on the proper account number of BKK Bank here.  I assume it must go through BKK Bank NY to get here but it only shows the local account number here.

Am I going to have to go to BKK Bank main office to find out what type of transfer I am receiving?  Do I have to call my US bank also?  Not worried about the cost of calling but really have no idea of what to ask them except using the IAT and ACH terms.

Can someone possibly explain in simple (my mind) laymen's terms what we must do at this point in time?  That letter was totally confusing to me, and possibly to a lot of other folks.

    Thanks

Clearly you cannot read too good, before you attack me and others here read all the posts first.

Because it did happen to me, a damn sight worse than him, but i did not go begging for money just got on with it.

I do read quite well, thank you.  In your case, the shoe seems to fit quite well, so to speak - You do seem to like to comment on others unfortunate situations in a very negative manner, as with your other post about the Italian gentleman who was struck with a hammer:

    so what   ?

out of the millions that come here and spend money in Thailand every year making them billions (12% of the countries GDP) how many end up with a medical emergency like the OP, it is so insignificant it isn't worth considering, Thailand is dangerous especially on the roads - it is their duty to make it as safe as possible for people who come here for a holiday, it's not as if they haven't had long enough to improve things.

But regardless of that, considering the very small number of people that end up in this sort of situation while here on holiday it is no real big deal (all things considered) for the country to provide free emergency medical assistance to the few that need it, they make huge revenue from tourism how about giving some back when some fall foul of the poor safety.

Not so long ago we had some children that got themselves into trouble in a cave - there was no shortage of foreign volunteers willing to put their lives at serious risk to save them.

Kudos to you for those remarks.

And to those of you who posted comments which were only sarcastic and mean spirited just to increase your posting numbers, it is sad to see so many vile persons on one thread.  I like reading many of the threads for their information and often quick-witted and funny comments.  But for those of you that can only seem to excoriate others, I (and probably many others) would just wish that you would <deleted>!  There is an old saying that goes something like this - "If you can't say something good about another then just don't say anything"!   The Brit here had something very bad happen to him, I sincerely hope nothing like that happens to the commenters here.

  14. Lots of gay vids out there - not talking about X-rated - just stories about relationships and how they got there.  Type in Eng sub BL on youtube - they are the best IMHO with subtitles.  Some of the series are the best - and also on some of the sites such as Netflix.  SOTUS the series won lots of awards and the stars have been doing promotional appearances all over SE Asia - even at some of the major malls here in Bangkok as recently as Chinese New Years.  Good for those still young at heart no matter your age but not recommended for those who are really jaded.

Sorry, what I am going to say may have been said already by others, frankly I am not going to read all replies.

Simply,  if your intention is not to go below 800k (wise choice if possible), why don't you put 800k in a fixed deposit account. You will earn an interest of 1.5%-2% per year, not much but better than what the savings account will give you. You can forget about topping up and such. And the IO will be happy.

I am not sure of the current regulations, but some 10-15 years ago, it was explicitly stated that the 800,000bt could not be in a fixed type account.  Again it may have changed since but wise to check.
