  1.        (for milk 100 gram)                                        Goat                          Cow

       Protein, total (%)                                                3.29                           1.03

proteincontent in Goat milk : Casein 71%, Whey protein 22%, non protein Nitrogen 7%

protein in milk and cheese for 100 gram :   milk   3.3 gram, sheddar cheese 25 gram, Mozzalella cheese 28 gram

I can not find how many kg. use Goat milk to make cheese 1 kg. but I found between Buffalo milk and Cow milk :  5 kg. Buffalo milk = 1 kg. cheese

and 8 kg. Cow milk = 1kg. cheese  (protein of Buffalo milk is 40% higher than protein of Cow milk)

Whey protein :- protein less than 70% use for animalfood production

protein 70-80% use to make icecream (still have more fat)

protein 80-95% make protein powder (Whey protein concentrate)

I hoop it help you to calculate, success

    Hi,

You state that goat milk has a protein percentage of 3.29, and cow milk 1.03. That sounds very strange to me. 1 litre of cows milk in norway, is on the packet said to contain about 30 grams of protein. So this must be wrong. But good that you point out that most of the proteincontent in the goat milk is from Casein. That makes sense, and it poses quite a different calculation. I was assuming that most of the protein was in the form of whey, which of course it is not. Do you know if most of the casein is left in the cheese, or if some of is separated together with the whey?

    Thanks :-)

  2. Not quite sure but a friend of mine makes cheese and for every 200lt of raw cows milk he makes 20k of cheddar cheese. We have been looking into the idea of making Ricotta or at least something that can be sold rather than throw away.Does anybody have some good ideas of where to sell it or convert to a saleable product and cost effective.

    Hi,

You could simply try to sell it as liquid whey, in healthfoodstores such as Baan Suan Pak (near President Hotel) and Aden (on Nimmanhemin, near Warm Up)

But I would recommend, that if you do that, try to figure out the approximate nutritional value (protein content etc)

  3. For people who are into consuming proteins, for various reasons, this might perhaps be of interest, and maybe someone can help me figure this out:

I am consuming a lot of liquid Goat Whey protein, which is raw (unprocessed and organic), and produced at Hamza's farm. It is sold in many healthfood stores etc. I believe it is a good alternative to proetinpowders, which are greatly processed etc. I consume this because I am doing weightlifting. However, no one has been able to tell me the exact protein content of the goat whey. It comes on bottles of about 220 ml. A similar bottle of goat milk, would contain something like 8 grams of protein. The whey is said to contain significantly more, and it is a byproduct from cheese-production. During the production of cheese, the cheese will be on top of the container as a more solid substance, and the whey will separate as liquid below the cheese. The whey is supposed to contain most of the protein, and to be more concentrated in protein than the milk. So I guess one way to calculate it, would be the following. Lets say that 50 kilos of goat milk is used to produce a certain amount of cheese. Then one could measure by the end of the production, how many kilos is left as cheese, and how many kilos is left as goat whey. 50 kg/litres of goatmilk would give something like 32*50 grams of protein. If one knows the approximate proteincontent in goats cheese, then the protein content in the goat cheese which had been produced could be calculated, and extracted from the total protein content which was there to begin with. Then, what remains of the protein, would all be in the whey.

On this link, the protein content of Goat Cheese is suggested: http://www.nutritiondata.com/foods-goat000000000000000000000.html

But actually, 28 grams of goat cheese is said to contain around 6-9 grams of protein. Which is more than the goat milk. This would indicate that the goat whey actually contains less protein than the goat milk, or am I wrong?

  4. I am looking for a professional yet reasonably priced graphic/web-designer, and a photographer. I need to make a good myspace-site for my music project. It includes to make the band-logo and graphic design for it, as well as the programming itself. I also need some graphic design for promotional material (cd-cover for promo-cd etc), perhaps the same or something similar as that on the website. I would also need at some point to get some good pictures of myself, profilepictures etc.

I also need to design an advertisement which I will put in a magazine.

Can anyone recommned someone for the job? It is important that the persons must have a certain skill in english, so that I will be able to communicate my ideas to them. Would be great if they also could assist in getting things printed professionally (cd-s, business cards etc).

I am not prepared to pay a lot of money, which means I am looking for thai persons or westerners who could do it fairly cheap. As I, like many others, do not have a very high income when living in Thailand.

  5. I would recommend this agency:

    http://www.houseinchiangmai.net/

I have been looking for something similar to what you describe, and looked through 15 agencies websites. Quite often the really good condos are not availble, although they are listed as such. But they do exist, in the location you mention, and it should not cost you more than 25-30.000 baht pr month.

Here are two examples (but they are not available...) All are in the Huay Kaew area:

  6. So i spend more time inside than outside, anyway... In what case do you think the situation would affect daily life?

Unless they decide to cut the internet or power supplies for 'security reasons'

That would be crazy, and create a lot of chaos. Has it happened before? Actually, I can only see that as creating a lot of trouble, and not having anything to do with security. Also, all the tourists would be gone in a second.

  7. I was planning to sign a 3 month contract for a condo tomorrow, which means that I probably have to pay both the deposit and the rent for the first month (50.000 baht totally). When I read these news, I was questioning whether it will still be worthwile to stay here. But it seems that many of you think it will not affect daily life in CM that much? Do you think it makes any sense to reconsider my plan, based on what is happening?

Depends what your daily life is... but no.. if anything, things should be cheaper for you... :)

But if you came to Thailand for peace and quiet, then you should be at the resorts or out in the countryside here anyway...

    good luck have fun.

Ok, thanks! No, I like Chiang Mai, so did not consider a resort or the countryside anyway. I live a simple life, eating out maybe once or twice a day, going to the gym, some health treatment or yoga class a few times a week, then spending a lot of time inside, working on the computer etc. So i spend more time inside than outside, anyway... In what case do you think the situation would affect daily life? What kind of lifestyle would be a prerequisite for that? And should there be much danger involved in walking around in the city in general?

  9. It should be mentioned, that upon entry to Thailand, one is requested to fill out a form, including the flight number for the return flight (or perhaps onwards flight?). A passenger told me that if the arriving flight is in example f133, the return flight will simply be one number higher; f134. That is what I did when filling out the form, and there were no problems with this at the airport.

I also want to post the answer I got from Air Berlin, about this topic:

Apart from the tourist visa, normally a confirmed onward-passage or return ticket is also required for entry.

If you have booked only a one way flight to Bangkok, it can be happen that our colleagues request you to book also

    a return flight.

You can also find further information on our homepage. Please use the following link:

  10. I will arrive in Chiang Mai next week, and I am planning to stay there many months. I would be interested to hear from those of you living there, if there is any need to be concerned or take precautions in Chiang Mai, due to the current political situation. How serious do you perceive the situation to be? Is there anyone living there permanently, who questions whether you want to continue staying there, in example? Is there a lot of fear related to the current situation? has anyone been killed or seriously hurt in CM thus far?

  11. I have heard stories that people who try to enter Thailand without a return ticket, are sent back to their country when arriving in Thailand. Even a travel company suggested that I buy a cheap ticket from Thailand to Malaysia, which I can show upon my entry to Thailand as a return ticket. But at the Thai embassy in Norway, they say that I do not need a return ticket upon arrival, as long as I have a visa for Thailand in my passport, from the embassy. They said people are only sent back if they request a visa upon arrival (15 or 30 days), and have no return ticket...

Any input on this? Is it safe for me to enter with a touristvisa in my passport and a singleway ticket, or is it better I buy a cheap return ticket, just to be certain there will be no problems?

  12. I doubt that it cost 300 dollars to make. He had a crew of over 50 people who worked for free. The software to make such things cost several thousand dollars unless you use illegal software.

A full editing job even for a 10 minute video would cost probably around 20,000 baht minimum.

And how many hours work do you estimate that to be?

  13. There is a writers club that meet each thursday at a restaurant in the Nimmenhamen area of Chiang Mai. There is no charge and they welcome new members. Various amateur and professional writers read their stuff out loud to the other members and get creative suggestions as feedback. I'm a professional writer but I get good suggestions and advice all the time. If you want to know more then just PM me and I'll gladly give you the details.

    Cool, I'll PM you

  14. I think that the OP wants to take a class on creative writing not teach one. I don't think that taking a creative writing class designed for Thai students would do him/her much good. The language institute at CMU focuses on teaching to Thai students not to foreigners. There are a few different creative writing courses offered in Chiang Mai (CMU/Payap, private language schools) but they are designed for EFL students, and are usually taught by people with limited publishing experience.

There are some poetry clubs and similar groups around most are comprised of amateurs or those with limited publishing experience, but they will be able to help some. You will find a small community of writers here. I think that when you actually get here you will be able to meet up with like minded people.

OK, thanks for your input. I guess you are right that courses aimed at thai students is not really interesting to me, or perhaps to many westerners in general. In example, I would assume that any course aimed at EFL students would imply their english skills are generally not very good, compared with a westerner who can speak and write english quite fluently, although he has english as a second language? But the latter (poetry clubs etc) could be of interest.

  15. The OP did state that monetary compensation is not his goal. I think that you need to fully read his post before giving criticism.

Yes, there are many small production companies in the area. They are not cheap however. If this is just a whim of fancy and not a serious project, then I wouldn't bother doing it. If you are willing to pay for quality, then you can get quality.

I think that most production companies would probably pass though. You have no experience and no professional videographer/editor would want a director with 0 experience controlling the show.

SInce you state that you most likely wouldn't have spoken words, then what kind of "SCRIPT" would you be making? Perhaps if you spent some time researching about video production a little it would help. You will need to know the terminology and the field that they work in, so that you can tell them exactly what you want.

My suggestion if you don't have a video camera, is to get one and just start practicing yourself. You can get the software at local shops, like sony vegas, or adobe series with after effects. These will give you the results that you want. There are also countless tutorials on how to do special effects.

I say do it yourself if you really want to do something to be proud of and that doesn't cost a lot.

Ignore any negative comments about this not being worth doing. There are many small production shorts that have had great critical success. Follow your dream and just enjoy the journey.

Hi. No, it is certainly true I am not familiar with movie production. I have certain ideas of the themes, scenes etc, but I have not worked specifically with narrowing it down to something concrete. It was rather the case that I thought if it could be fairly cheap to do it in Chiang Mai, that could perhaps provide a motivation to do something about it, knowing that it would be financially possible to make it happen... Because I am planning to stay in Chiang Mai at least one year, arriving next summer, and devote a lot of time to creative projects. I guess you are right that the word script implies dialogue, or I do not even know. Since I am also recording my own music, I was thinking of making a music video, but with the film supplementing the themes of the lyrical content rather than showing a band or something.

How much do you think I would have needed to pay for a decent ten minute movie, that being for the filming and editing, not for actors etc..?

  16. Best off self-teaching me thinks. Have a look at Utube for composition and arrangement of the professionals using these programs. Also worth checking out the Propellerheads forum and perhaps downloading their 'how to' guides if you have Reason. Tweakheadz is also pretty good for general info, plus he has a forum. Probably better off with Reason as a newbie; Cubase is a bit more intense. Believe Reason can even import audio now and you can load it up with extra sounds.

Yeah, probably good to play around a little bit on my own. I might not necessarily be looking for education in the conventional sense, but maybe I could find some westerners there familiar with those programs to teach me some things. Anyway, I will not be in Chiang Mai until the summer, but wanted to check if there were any such possibilities there. I will stay in CM quite a long time, a year or so, and the plan is to dedicate a lot of time to creative projects, that's why I am researching the different opportunities.

  17. Hull can not issue a retirement visa (long stay OA). What you would get from them is a multi entry non immigrant O visa that allows 90 days stays. That would allows combined time of about 15 months before a new visa would have to be obtained.

Somone told me they can only issue those visas in Hull to British nationals? Also, what is the procedure if applying in Hull? Come there one day, with no specific documents required, fill the application there, receive it the next day, or?

  18. Are there practitioners within the transpersonal field in Chiang Mai, offering sessions or studies in example in breathwork such as Holotropic breathwork?

Also, what about bodywork such as rolfing? I know these kind of things might be offered once in a while by people visiting Chiang Mai for shorter periods, but is anything being offered on a more permanent basis?

Are there in example study groups dealing with transpersonal psychology, both its' theories and application?

  19. I have been considering to make some short movies in Chiang Mai, it could be of 5-10 minutes duration, kind of artistic, perhaps without spoken words, but with the combination of music, some text and moving pictures. It would involve both filming in and around CM, as well as using various clips i.e found on the internet, and then put it together on the computer. Perhaps more like a multimedia production than a typical short movie.

I have no experience with the practicalities of doing this, but would write the script and be the creative leader. I wonder if there are professional thais (or westerners) working in this field, who speak decent English, and who would not be too expensive to hire for such work. I would do this as a private person, without having economical rewards as the main intention, so the people involved should have an understanding of that. For professional thais working with film production, but on a small scale, what would be a typical monthly income?

I am not in Chiang Mai at the moment, but am interested to know which possibilities are existing within this field.
