  1. I lived in Chiangmai for 7 years but never regret the day I left this shithole behind me !

10 years ago it was nice, the people where nice.

What the fukkk are this confusing advertisements in this post ?

I will ban the companies mentioned there !

  2. nothing on the actual suggestion itself, but thought Id share something especially for those that think Thais do such things just to get to farangs.

my thai neighbours always park their car in front of our house, or at times its a number of motorbikes. (I dont have a car or bike). most of the time I say nothing. every now and then I have to tell them to move it cos its parked so close to the front door, I have trouble getting in. especially when I have visitors that come with luggage. once my Mom had to go tell them to move it slightly (so she can get into her own house!)

and their reply was, oh, I didnt think your daughter lives here. and then started going on about my Mom making a big fuss and complaining etc etc. great. they park in front of our house all these years, so they can keep the front of theirs free. and every now and then when it inconveniences the owner of that house, they say we are making a fuss.

Im thai, my Mom is Thai, the neighbours are Thai. so its just a case of bad manners and inconsiderate neighbours. nothing to do with any prejudice against farangs :D

just thought Id share, and also vent my years of frustration!

Sounds like you could use this plant very well :) so it could be a win-win solution for the both of you !

  3. Want to spend a couple of days with elephants. Accommodation should be comfortable.

Where did you have a good experience?

Dont know if location is relevant, e.g Lampang area more beautiful for elephant rides ?

Please read this first ! Help Thai Elephants and know that are RIGHT and WRONG elephant camps !

Beside the wrong elephant camps who abuse elephants (see website) and abuse you by paying high provision to the taxidriver who 'dumps' you there (as they see it) out of your own pocket.

Try to find out about the elephant hospital in Lampang and the correct elephant camp in Mea Taeng.

  4. Ofcourse you can use all kind of advanced proxies, but for login sites this does not work.

I found out that adult websites like Tube8 that appear blocked by moralistic cybercops are easy to open just press @#!% several times, after 5 or 10 times you get grip and open the site. Do the same with every deeplink you click on.

    Life is beautiful :)

  5. post-1136-1256714874_thumb.jpgDoes anyone know where I can find a gunsmith shop which sells air rifles in Bangkok?. Also if they do not have the required model, is it possible to have them order from the USA or the UK. I was informed some time back if the gun is sent complete the cost will be very high, but if it is dismantled in the country of origon and the the parts are sent item by item, then it would look like it was only spare parts that was being sent.

    Thanks in advance.

What you gonna use it for, huh... your neighbor ?

Perhaps choose this model better it keeps you cool !

  6. As long as the highly annoying racistic 'double pricing' in natureparks, zoo, doi Suthep etc. not has been eliminated should the gov better not worry about One Million Lost Tourists ? (chiangmai as example)

I hate double pricing and refuse to go places that engage in this practice but I don't think it has any impact on tourism. Very few people would refuse to come to Thailand because they are charged (an inconsiquential amount) more at a few tourist attractions than locals (who they generally perceive as very poor). Some people may refuse to support the practice but that money will still be spent in Thailand anyway. The only real negative is the loss of repeat visits to those particular venues by long stay or repeat tourists and the negative attitude towards Thailand that the practice generates among the regulars.

I believe everything counts, also double pricing, also the gruesome but 'traditional' torture of elephants, also airport taxi scams etc. etc. it all helps create the image of thailand (and effect the countries karma !!!!)

  7. I didn't really mean illegal. I don't use torrents either.

Sharing is not illegal, illegal are 70% of the counterfeit karaoke VCD´s you can buy in Thailand.

I started using torrents few months ago and I love it, if you use it the right way it enriches your life !

  8. Hi All,

My wife has just discovered KaraFun and is determined to set up home karaoke. The trouble is, she is frustrated at the limited amount of Thai karaoke tracks available.

Can someone recommend how or where we can get Thai karoake tracks in Sydney, Australia?

    Cheers,

    Nige'

Check this out ! More Thai karaoke then your wife can sing in all her life just free to download !

    :)

  9. As long as the highly annoying racistic 'double pricing' in natureparks, zoo, doi Suthep etc. not has been eliminated should the gov better not worry about One Million Lost Tourists ? (chiangmai as example)

But if they DO worry about the huge amount of lost income from tourism and DO want to reverse this, isn't it about time to start thinking of the law of Cause And Effect, to start realizing that 'double pricing' could be one of the things that badly damages the countries image, hospitality and show of good moral ?

And may perhaps be of the first (and most easy) bad things to eliminate.

Or perhaps they simply don't worry and maipenrai and accept it as 'shit happens' as it's a traditional habit to maipenrai everything that forces serious thinking ? (the 'chan mi poewot hoewa' effect)

  10. 2 times a year I have a 10 kilo box containing 55.000 bath worth of medical goods send from Eu just by registered mail and never had any problem, never had to pay tax etc. I suggest take a post office box at the official postoffice, almost for free, and have it send by a friend not by a company.

For mail Thai Post is very good, the past 14 years never something has been lost, in both directions Thai>Eu and Eu>Thai.

Compare with the postal service in the Philippines that's really big crap. A simple letter or small package usually takes 3 - 4 months before it's being delivered.

  11. My wife always checks the bill when we have paid ,you would be suprised at the number of items that have been overcharged, she has made numerous complaints ,also charging twice for an item.

Yeah having a Thai wife can give few benefits also :D but still I'm more happy without !

With my ex in BKK it always was fun when we received the bill in a restaurant or store, as a professional accountant she immediately discovered errors all the time. Thus she saved me a lot of money, but after all she has cost me more after she got seriously tingtong and stole my car.

    :)

  12. Pricing is a big mess here, I usually go to Carrefour where at least you get the product free if the cashregister charges more then the mentioned price.

I solved this by taking a CDwriter and note the mentioned prices on a corner of the package, so when checking out easy to check.

About 1 ouf 20 items has a different price in the computer, usually higher. If lower I keep my mouth shut.

    :)

  13. where is the problem? It is quite a normal for a courier to pass the clearance charges to receiver. Now maybe it would have been wise to check this matter before!

Guess better contact Swanson's and explain the situation. FedUp is clearly the wrong thing for packages like this !

It better to send normally by mail, as it's just herbs guess no problem.

  14. Thanks for that tip Spaceshipcrew... I will check at Munkala. I never thought of it at the time. Also - I didn't know there was an Amway shop in CM but my wife tells me that there is. Thank you!

Bearnagh, a friend of me she does Amway, if you can't manage to find by yourself I could ask her. I see her in the afternoon because her dad has a restaurant near Borsang where I often go eat.

Last week I saw the catalog, they offer a whole lot of herbal supplements.

  15. This weeks frontpage of Chiangmai Mail shows Heads spin as tourist numbers drop by almost a million

So, we have 'spinning heads', and the article (only mentions the facts but nothing about possible solutions) ends with 'what is being done about it ?'

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it makes me wonder... IS this actually an important topic for the local gov ?

If Chiangmai DOES want the tourists back, what is the solution for Chiangmai in farangs eyes ?

    my donation:

    • immediate ban on double pricing, it's very respectless and insulting
    • higher standards for sidewalks, rules and standardisation for privately owned pieces in the sidewalk
    • car fee zones, only supplying of goods from 4 - 11 am
    • gov intervention for abandoned kalare square and getting the shops back
    • new stalls for the nitebazar, the old ones are crap
    • a 'tourist commitee' by farangs who advises the local gov

    you ?

The winner wil get a seat in the municipal council !*

    *joking

  16. She's a good friend for many years, asked me desparately to find a safe family for the boy. The mother she is an 38 year old Thai woman, and mentally not too stable but now really it's getting worse. Separated from her much younger Thai boyfriend 2 months ago. Also has her business to take care but now really the little guy is far too much to handle, when he is crying she gets hysteric, very sad for both.

She's not poor so I guess she can provide financial support if needed.
