brilliant - now they know how it feels for tourists getting interogated entering thailand and their silly requirements, ie onward flights / 20K cash / proof of hotel blah blah blah.

And what questions are the Thais asked when they go to other countries like the UK, us, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc? They have to first fight for a visa and the are subjected to all of the questions you have just complained about Thailand asking. If it was as easy for the Thais to travel to other countries and stay for immeasurable time as we foreigners can do here  in Thailand, I’m sure that everyone would be happy.

  2. Funny thing is that I know 2 people working in the police hospital in Bangkok, and they both tell me that Thaksin isn’t there any more. He simply arrives there when needs be, like someone going in to check on him or whatever. He is now, these people say, living in his house free as a bird. Thailands justices system is a complete joke. Money buys power buys freedom to do whatever you want. It’ll never change as the greed of people, especially the politicians, is huge.

Keep in mind people the O/P said they're in Bangkok, which a year or so ago STOPPED asking for the bank book to be updated when you went back to get the year extension inked in AND went to a 3 week under consideration stamp.

While it is okay to keep the funds in it is definitely NOT required at Chaengwattana,

It doesn’t matter where it is in the country, the immigration, before they accept the extension, can at any time within the 30 day under consideration period, ask for the bank details again. The information that you are giving could get the OP in to a problem with his extension.

  5. We’ll see snow falling here in thailand  before thailand see’s tasking return. Don’t know what everyone is getting excited about. As a billionaire with a good few diplomatic passports, he can pretty much go and live anywhere he feels like, he’s not going to come back here to serve even a day in prison. This will be about the 32nd time he’s had people fooled saying he’s coming back and so it will continue.

Didn't some immigration officers just get "reassigned" for doing the same for a foreign celebrity?

No, it’s normal. If you arrive in a private plane you get very little scrutiny from customs and immigration. I have arrived in to many different countries on a private plane owned by people I worked as executive protection for. It’s simply, land, be met at the aircraft, go to a very small office for immigration, stamp the passport and away. If someone is flying in a commercial aircraft, it’s a completely different scenario.

  7. What does it matter really? Here in thailand, it’s impossible to be registered with a university and not come out with a degree. That’s why the Thai degrees are considered next to useless on the international work scene. My son has just started university, only because his mom and the Thai side of the family said that he should go. He hates it and really cannot be bothered with the school. It’s supposed to be an international university, there are, however, no foreign teachers, except for an Indian who no one can understand and a Filipino who drones on and on about nothing. All the rest are Thai and gallop through everything without a care whether the students can understand or not. AI is great for the homework, actually explains things a damn site better than any of the teachers. University in thailand is, in my opinion, a complete waste of 4 years and to come out with a piece of paper after that time which is nigh on useless anywhere out of thailand just isn’t worth the time or effort.

Ahhh, Nigerian mafia. Let into the country.  Motorcycle gangs. Raise the retirement limit to 3 million baht. Lets get rid of these gangs...

What a stupid comment. What has this Nigerian guy got to do with retirement visa’s? The report said he’s 26 years old. So, again, what’s any of this got to do with retirement visas? If the immigration decide to take your suggestion and put it up to 3 million baht, do you think that will stop other people doing the same “work” as this young Nigerian guy, getting a visa to enter?

Peanut Oil would be perfect. Just started a professional WOK-station in our new garden for which I waited decades. But this oil is (in Thailand) crazy expensive. But last dreams during my last times.

No it’s not. The price of a good peanut oil is 160 baht per liter in bangkoks Chinatown market. We buy it and use it all the time. If you want a link to the market, let me know and I’ll gladly send a link to you. As you’ve just set up a wok station, sounds like you like to cook Chinese food, me too. We also have a wok station outside in the back of our house which I use daily. I love to cook uk style Chinese food and actually worked and trained with friends in their restaurants and takeaways in the uk for a few years.
