What is the testing capacity in Thailand? They aren't doing a million tests a day like in the UK i assume.

Last I heard, testing was being done on 50,000 people a day. That was up to last week, not sure what the figure tested per day is this week but just gives you some idea of the amount of positives they’d get if they did increase the testing. Thailand don’t want their figures to show up too much, would stop the almighty $ coming in to the country, so….

  2. Of course they are going to say no lockdown as they have just started allowing tourists back and imposing a lockdown countrywide would detract and go against the tourists coming to spend money. Everyone knows that Thailand is all about the tourists $ so, again, why would they care about anything else other than the money?

jokes aside, it probably started in 2010 and took China 9 years to admit it

Watch the movie “contagion”, an American made movie that was made in 2011, this is an exact replica of how Covid-19 started and travelled and became a pandemic throughout the world, even down to where it first started and symptoms, etc. it’s just as if someone went back from 2020/21 to 2011 to make the movie. Everything is in that movie that is happening exactly as it is worldwide today. How? I have no idea but it’s as if someone wrote out the script for it all those years ago…

This figure is based on daily testing of only 20,000 people a day so, 10,000 per day equates to 1 in 2 people so, given that figure, it could mean that there are up to half of the people in the country that are infected right now….

  5. So, Phuket is about to open to the first tourists we've had for over a year. How does everyone think it will go as there are going to be a heck of a load of rules and re4gulations to pass through before being allowed to go there and probably even more for people wanting to stay for over 14 days and actually leave the island.

The government did say that, if, when Phuket opens, the number of cases of covid-19 positive reach 13 in a day then the island will immediately be closed off yet, 2 days ago, there were already 14 new cases that were reported so, is this just a ruse in which to open up Phuket regardless and hope that people come out and spend money or is it going to be a reality and people will actually do what they say for once.

This reminds me of a movie actually, which came out in 1981. Whatever happens, it'll certainly be interesting to see and may be a sign for all other areas of Thailand for future months.

  6. I would love to know why all the special privileges for Phuket. I’ve lived here over 25 years and it’s always been the same, Phuket first and the rest of Thailand, including Bangkok, to follow later. What have the governors of Phuket got over the govt. for them to be awarded so many privileges above and beyond everywhere else? Even the new immigration rules start in Phuket rather than in Bangkok. I simply can’t understand why this small island has so many perks and privileges. Is it because the scammers are out in force and the govt. know that they can make money from any gullible tourists who want to go there? If so, why not open up and award pattaya the same privileges, simply because pattaya brings in far more money on a yearly basis than Phuket. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to what exactly is so special about this place….

  7. I wonder how much the producers of this stuff paid the government for the endorsement. I see, from the photo of the packet here, that it costs 350 baht right now. Wait for it now, it’s going to go way up in price and be sold for 1,000+ baht for the same thing. Next miracle cure will be drinking hales blue boy which is already popular here. What about recommending people go eat Som tam at a certain restaurant (owned or sponsored by the government of course) with an extra portion of chili? Thai govt ‘workers’really have no idea about anything other than stealing the countries money and liking their own pockets.

  8. The OP’s wife is correct. Alcohol and durian do not mix as the durian on top of alcohol creates a very bad and often deadly form of gas in the stomach and can trigger many side effects. Over the years, I have seen and heard of quite a few deaths caused by consuming the 2 together.

Forgive me for being suspicious, but that is a very dramatic drop in daily numbers. Did they run out of tests?

No, probably not, but, as this is Thailand and money is number 1, they’ve probably just stopped, or cut short on, any further testing. No testing = nothing to report = (government) can open the country = (government) can make more money = (government) can carry on lining their pockets regardless!!

But they appear to sell only CBD oil, not THC oil, is that correct?

I’m not sure on the difference. I know that it is a very strong and pure oil that they sell and it has high levels of both cbd and thc  I’ve bought 3 times from this website and each batch and effects are the same. Better to write to the company and ask them for more details as they obviously can give you the information that your looking for.

  11. I got it from a website called “www.prestigepharma.net, excellent customer care and excellent quality and strength. Although they are based in Canada - from the details on their website, they do seem to have an agent here. as mine was sent from within Thailand.

I, like many others here, found that cbd/thc did nothing for my lower back pain at all but did help me to sleep soundly. It seems that it reacts differently to different people and their ailments.

  12. We’ve been through this, it’s quite a nightmare situation to get it done, usual Thai BS…

firstly, to change the Thai spelling of your surname, BY THAI LAW, the name in Thai must mean something  and cannot be just as simple as having it changed with no meaning. By ‘have a meaning’ I mean that  it must relate and mean something when reading it, for example ‘สุขภาพดี (the healthy one), it can’t simply be ‘jones’ or ‘smith’ as that means nothing in Thai. It also has to be a unique name, where no one else in Thailand has that name. The only way that a person can have their name changed to any Thai spelling is when a woman gets married, then, the amphur will ask what spelling you want but, after that, it’s an enormous task to get it changed and, even when you have a meaning for the name, it’ll probably sound slightly different in Thai than it does in English due to the problem of ‘meaning something’. If you do find a suitable spelling of your name in Thai, you’ll need to go to the amphur office in your area to get all of your families documents changed but can only do this once the amphur checks the spelling against a list of the Thai names currently used in Thailand. If someone else has registered that spelling, they won’t do it and tell you to think of another name/spelling.

it can be done but will take some time and thinking about to be able to get it done. Any spelling change in Thai will not affect your visa status as you are known already as Mr. Jones or whatever, in English or whatever nationality you are, the Thai spelling, for you and for immigration/banking, etc. services won’t matter.

Kids can hang out at shopping malls and in restaurants, but educating them would appear to be a low priority.

Children only hang out at shopping malls if you allow them to. It’s nothing to do with the school, teachers or the ministry of education what you choose to allow your child to do when they are not going to school but, as a responsible parent, I would think that you wouldn’t allow your child to hang around a shopping mall for a while but again, as a parent it’s your choice whatever you decide but if anything happens with your child, you can’t go blaming the school or education authority for it.

....and just in addition my daughter has loved spending more time with her Papa.

It has been a very long time since i have played dollies with my children.

We have also started our own at home youtube channel.

I honestly can not remember a time i have laughed so hard with my children.

Same here. We love to have our son here with us and spend more time together,. Unlike a lot of the parents at our school, we enjoy spending time with our son and spending time as a family. A lot of parents at our sons school are completely the opposite and have no time for their child/children and seem to think that they can just throw money at their child and this makes them a perfect parent. Take for instance the exam time,, it used to be that, after the exams finished they could go home early, parents complained that the school were letting them out too early and it was affecting their time for doing their nails/hair/bar time or whatever.

Is that true? Genuine question. I can understand there being a charge for the blood but I did a quick search on the Internet and can't find anything relating to the price of blood. I found another thread that talked about it but no one was willing to say how much it costs.

My thoughts, if you are a blood donor, you should receive blood at a reduced price if you need it one day yourself. I think that would encourage more to come forwards and donate.

Yes, perfectly true. Foreigners are routinely charged at least 3X the Thai price at Hua hin hospital. Blood is alway charged for although some hospitals do disguise this charge by saying “we don’t charge for blood but for the equipment used for transfusing it and the nurses and doctors fees to administer it”. Nothing is free here in Thailand as regards medical matters, especially for a foreigner, except for when you donate it of course, there’s just too much money to be made out of medical health to be anything else.

  16. I regularly donate at the local Red Cross but after reading this, it does make me angry as, it’s fine for them to ask for urgent donations when they need blood (given free) but when a foreigner receives it, they are charged 3-4 times the price of a Thai person just as we, as foreigners, are charged 3-4 times the price at Hh hospital if we go with a problem. It’s a shame that the ‘favor’ isn’t done both ways, but this is Thailand after all!
