I'm a member of a Line group for people who love movies. I had watched a movie and left a message saying I'd just watched it and it was pretty good. A few other people said they'd seen it too and they thought it was great. One member then mentioned that it was an all African-American cast. I replied with, "oh, yea. Now you say that - I just realised it's an all African-American cast. I hadn't noticed when watching". This particular member then went on to inform me that I had 'unconscious racial bias'.
I just ignored this member and they were then kicked from the group. Seems they were picking fights with other members about all manner of things. I'm all for open dialogue about anything. But when you begin the dialogue with something along the lines of, "I don't know you, but you're bad and here's why" - you can see why people just ignore you and dismiss what you have to say (legitimate or not). People don't like being lectured - and they have every right to ignore you and not listen. You have to learn how to engage people respectfully.
I did enjoy playing the game 'Who said it - Robin DeAngelo or Richard Spencer?' One of them is a white supremist and the other makes money from telling you you're a racist and you always will be. But by parting with your hard-earned cash, you can become more aware and less racist. I know, I know; the latter one sounds like a religion.

Come on people you-all are not children use your brains......Democrat-Republican.....Labour-Conservative.......Or the Thai parties.....They are one in the same.....They wear different hats but underneath they are all the same......The new boss will be the same as the old boss.....
The new boss will throw the masses a few bones to show he is different then its back to business as usual...
Why was I not told about this before?
You mean to say whoever is in power will just be more of the same? No change in accountability? No betterment at all?
I'll be sure to inform the protesters.

Looking at how many thumbs down your comments get (figuratively speaking) me thinks your opinion isn't worth much.
Prayut has to go. I know it will be kicking and screaming as it won't be about the people it will be about him and his ego. But if this country has any chance of moving forward, he has to go now.

Regardless of how much power he really wields, he needs to go. He’s the face of everything that’s wrong with the country right now.
He will have to step down. It’s just a matter of how long it takes.

This is a pointless exercise.
The coalition wanna talk about covid and the motorcade, etc. This whole debate will just further prove the protesters points that they aren't being represented.
The coalition aren't even pretending that they represent the people anymore. They've made it perfectly clear what their position is and who they serve.

Give a soldier a yellow shirt and he's still a soldier. The yellow shirts I've seen were lined up in serried ranks, just like a military parade.
A back door way of putting soldiers on the streets to combat the protesters. Expect them to initiate violence, little or none of which we've seen so far.
Yeap, and I’m pretty sure having soldiers dress as civilians to instigate trouble or even keep the peace is illegal by international law.

Funny. Seems like every day the government is being more and more obvious about what their priority is, and always has been.
I see them working overtime trying to protect something with tax payers’ money that’s already insanely rich. Meanwhile, the average Thai is being imprisoned, ignored or being kicked to the curb.
The pictures of Thais being brought into Bangkok in garbage trucks was a really poignant moment in how low this government has stooped to remain in power. Absolutely abhorrent.

Latest theory now is the emergency decree was dropped because they wanna release their hired dogs for the big protest on Saturday.
They can’t do that properly if the law states no more than 5 people. Do not underestimate what the people in charge here are willing to do to not concede even an inch.
I’ve always said that a revolution will mean bloodshed. Me saying this didn’t really resonate with me as I didn’t think I’d ever live to see the day. It’s now dawning on me that I most likely will. And it’s depressing because it’s all utterly unnecessary. All because a few deplorables don’t care about anything but themselves.- 5

The reason for his lifting of the emergency decree is simply because it's not warranted at this time. Should the student make trouble and violence again I am sure he will re-issue the order for emergency decree at the drop of a hat. Hopefully the protestors will heed Khun Prayut's warning and get back to work and school.
Excellent work by Khun Prayut and the government. Also, at this time Gen Khun Prayut Cha O Cha has been inspecting flooded provinces such as Changchasoe and Nakhon Ratchasima, as he needs to witness the devastation and crop destruction first hand. He has ordered the army to provide food, transport and shelter to the poor and needy.
Yea, like running away.
Tick tock, Steven. Tick tock.

There are videos of them being bused in. Plus some of them have very unique haircuts. Kind of haircut Forrest had in Forrest Gump.

The interesting bit will be the response/actions of the authorities, any guesses as to what they may or may not do ?
Probably dress soldiers and civil servants as Minions in the hope that people watching will fall for it and think there's a real divide.
There of course isn't and most people know what's really going on. But as for the elite, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

They were losing face and just making things worse.
You can see the protesters aren't scared anymore. All the arrests and threats are coming from an illegitimate government who are on their way out. The students know it and it's finally beginning to dawn on the government.
The seal is well and truly broken.

Tones are very hard for me. When I started to learn Thai, I kept lifting my head and chin as I'd say a word with a higher tone; like I was singing. It was completely unnatural for me.
The best way to learn is just immerse yourself with the language. No English. It's amazing how quickly you can learn when you have to.
Also, be careful when getting into small talk with people. I did it at the beginning and and thought I was going mad. Language isn't just words it's also culture. Last bizarre conversation I had was with the new laundry lady who told me in perfect Thai that her Thai isn't very good 'cos she's Burmese. She told me when to collect my shirts and I left confused. My missus later told me that she isn't Burmese, but she lived near the border so often had to speak a different language there.
I've found in small talk many people will tell me things that I don't need to know and have no meaning within the context of the conversation. It's not a knock on Thais, it's just a cultural thing. In any culture, you'll always get people who love to talk.

Amazing!
These are the kind of sentences you can expect when you're one of the 'good guys'.

Think Prayut might be ending it. Doesn’t matter anyway, no one is paying it or him any mind.

Speaking just four hours before the first group of Chinese tourists were due to touch down at Suvarnabhumi from Shanghai the minister told Naew Na that the tourists intended to come to Thailand and understood the country.
Is he referring to "the tourists" as in Chinese tourists? Because if so, he's right. They understand autocracy. This has always been an autocracy. But will these Chinese tourists understand totalitarianism? Because that's what we are heading towards right now.

Not sure what sort of sane person would do this for a holiday.
Guy I know returned from the UK after being stuck there for nearly 7 months. He was desperate to come back and he did his 14 day quarantine on arrival. Said he was stuck in his hotel room the whole time (yes, that's what quarantine is) and said he nearly went mad.
He said had he thought about it properly and knew what quarantine would really be like, he'd probably have waited longer until the quarantine was cut shorter or even got rid of. And he lives here.

Yes, isn't that when China started locking up over 1 million Uyghur Muslims while raping them, forcing sterilizations upon them and putting them into labour camps?
Poor old CCP. Having to commit genocide 'cos someone else forced their hand.

My missus knows. She doesn't like to admit it but she knows.
She's from a middle-class family and has a good job. Her way of coping with Thailand's sordid past and the lies she bought into is to pretend she doesn't care. Just be apathetic and say stuff like, "I have a career and life that I must focus on". I know she doesn't like the government, but she does that annoying thing of saying, "But what can I do? I'm only one person". To which I reply, "you can simply care".
I guess there are a lot Thais who are the same. I've always said that if you really wanna galvanize the public, take away their internet. Their ability to go on social media and watch Tiktok videos, etc. And ironically, it wouldn't surprise me if the government tried it. If they blocked the internet for an extended period of time, then you'd get my missus out on the street.

Other parties were found to have taken loans too. The excuse for ignoring their transactions? The loans were "small" (obviously excused for self preservation).
It didn't matter how careful the FFP were. The establishment were always going to find something.
There is no winning when the powers that be rule by law.
