  1. His money is as good as gone. I hope it will be spent educating the rural poor. But, really, Im sure that is what Thaksin was planning to do with his money anyway, right? :)

Great idea! I love it. Too bad all the greedy mitts of the government are already out pre-purchasing their new benzes and beamers. That is the education the rural poor will get :D

Yes, agree that don't want Taksin cashed up, but this is the real reason, to dilute it as it passes through many hands. Educating the rural poor, unfortunately many still don't realize that the current regimes idea is to keep them ignorant and in their place. Well I suppose that helps keep the bars full, some may see that as maintaining the staus quo for expats as well.

Actually, as a university educator, I have seen several positives signs from the current education minister. The lastest is the Thailand Quality Framework, which we just had a seminar about last week. It will look at curriculum, not only vertically, but horizontally, as to how certain issues are taught in classes, such as critical thinking, ethics and responsibility, etc. One of my friends, who is a past present of the SE Asian International schools assoc. thinks that this type of curriculum reform is badly needed, and quite good in concept.

I would say that the government trying to make 12 year access to schools for free (or at least lessen the "extra costs" as much as possible, its one of its greatest political platforms. I have enjoyed seeing them talk about spending more to renovate school buildings, and they seem to work working to make universities more accountable (more for the lower tiered unversities). Perfect, no. I would spend even more money, and make teacher retraining a huge national agenda target. But a step up from a few of the previous recommendations (One latop, one child, one extra baht for me, from Thaksin's playbook, etc).

My university enjoys a nice benefit from Abhisit being in charge, as Abhisit's father used to be the president, so we get good budget consideration. I appiciate that, and try to produce the best graduates I can, as do my collegues.

  2. I actually wish the red shirts would try another attempt on Abhisit (I count that assault on his vehicles during Bloody Songkran at the first). Nothing will kill off their support faster... But frankly, if you want to kill a snake you chop of the head. Somebody have a shovel anywhere near Dubai?

  3. [

Or chalerm then he could quickly organize for one of his sons to step into the role. Or even jatuporn or even a return of somchai. Wow, so much talent.

So much wasted talent, yes it's a shame they haven't been "wasted" like in "make my day"

Sad and pathetic to say, but Thailand hasn't produced an actual or transformative leader since............................................. since.............since..........................

Chaun and Anand. Abhisit might be there, given that he seems to be able to run the country despite the red shirts best efforts to destroy it.

  4. Look at the collection of morons fronting the red shirt brigade - Jatuporn, Charlerm, Noppadon, Thaksin, etc. These are the people that some want back in charge of Thailand. My god, my testicles shrink up faster than plunging into icey water, at that thought.

PM's Office Minister in charge of bullshit Jatuporn, FM in charge of bribing judges and whinging Noppadon, Secretary of Crappy Fathers Charlerm, Prime Minister of Changing country policy to enrich himself Thaksin, Secretary of <deleted> Samak, Deputy Secretary in Charge of Carrying Thaksin's jock strap Somchai. Secretary of Killing woman and shooting up their refrigerators Yongyut.

Give me Abhisit and Suthep- any day. (Although you can keep Kasit, he's another loudmouth lout).

  5. People seem to forget how much blood is on Hun Sen's hand. Lets stop talking about him like he is, in any way, a legitimate leader. He is a warlord, pure and simple, and a dirtbag to boot.

This whole diplomatic scuffle was done by him to keep the Cambodian people from protesting to loudly, because he recently ceded large tracks of disputed land back to Vietnam (one the puppet's "masters")

  6. It is heading for a big one.

Starting this protest a few days prior to the kings birthday is very very very calculated.

The forthcoming decision on the asset seizure will also figure very large in any final push.

Will the main man be close at hand will also figure. Would he have the balls to travel by land into Thailand on a white horse if it starts to go his way.

Can the momentum run into the festive holiday period and hit tourist and be a few more straws on a already broken donkey's back.

Have to say its going to be a very interesting month.

No its not. Nothing will happen. His Cambodia fiasco has assured that he no longer has the support of the majority. Bank on it.

  7. Those "peaceful" redshirts at it again. Support them at your peril.

Red,Yellow, they both are as bad as each other.

Except for the fact that the reds just threw a bomb and killed people....

Edit - sorry "Wounded" not killed. These people want the best for the country right? They really have our "best interests" in mind. Attempting to kill their fellow countrymen at a peaceful rally.

Thank you Mr investigator that you could close the case so quickly,I'm sure that since you came to your conclusions that you have facts as well.

So since this case is closed you may have some free time to solve another one.Can you please find out how it is possible if you sit in a car and some guys come to unload their automatic rifles, with a FEW HUNDRED bullet holes in the car, that the person inside the car walks away with some minor scratches.May this case be much related to the other one?

sure - the redshirts have bad aim. Another example seen tonight.

  9. This thread is about the current Thai government, undemocratic as it may be, attempting to seek international cooperation in their weak pursuit of Thaksin. In reality, not only will they find little international cooperation, but they were not trying very hard to keep Thaksin in Thailand when he was here. They need his diversion to distract from the lack of elections.

Well, since Thaksin has been barred from entering any "first world" country, I would say the are receiving quite a bit of cooperation. He is not launching his mudslinging from London, New York, Paris, or Moscow. Its Fiji, Cambodia, Chad, Darfur, etc. But then again, he is probably much more comfortably in those kind of places.
