Well, George, I'm sure you have noticed that this forum has gone through a downhill trend since you were running it as Thai Visa. There are a lot of new members that simply do not have that helpful mentality we had 20 years ago. But  let's be clear, it's all in the name of progress and profits. Toxic and venomous comments create more drama, and more excitement for the casual browser. Therefore more clicks and more ad exposure. Imagine what Orange County Choppers series would be without the vitriol and the constant infighting. Would there ever be a season2?

All the heavy equipment have been coming too late and in small amounts. What the Ukraine would need is a few B52's and just carpet bomb the Russian positions every day. And definitely some modern fighter jets to establish air dominance.

After a year of this conflict, I predicted that it would last a long time and unfortunately will not be resolved unless there is a direct NATO involvement. What may follow if that happens is not a pleasant thought.

Russia can produce almost unlimited supply of tanks and armored vehicles. They don't need to be battle proven or even protect the crews. All they need to do is just destroy the opponents by the sheer numbers. Russian army is good at that.

Also. one has to understand that Russia will never accept unconditional surrender. There will never be any negotiated peace. It's in the national pride, they might lose battles, but ultimately win the war. It has been like that for hundred of years. So I really don't have an answer how this conflict might end.

Additionally, what currently makes things more difficult for Ukraine, is the conflict in Israel, and more aggressive aspirations by China to dominate the SCS, and Taiwan.

As for the Marriage extension of stay, the only time you have to have the house visit and neighbor interview deal is on the initial request.  After that its all a cake walk and once a year. Few pictures, a few forms, a visit to immigration and done. 

Different immigration offices implement different rules. Some make it easy, some others make everything in their power to make you miserable.

The five years that I did the married extension, had nothing but trouble almost every time. Was sent back for just stupid things, like: "I cannot see the roof of your house, take new picture..." for me it's a 5 hour round trip to the nearest imm office.

Two years ago, I just gave up and switched to retirement with money in a fixed account. Now if I make an appointment, I'm in and out in 15 minutes. No need to bring the wife with me. Still 5 hours round trip though.
