  1. All do respect George but this is not a survey for internet connections is it ?

About 7 out of 32 questions are somehow internet related and rest is pure details of your situation. So if you want to survey Thaivisa users on their ages, preferences, mode of transport, annual income etc details to help with insurance, visa services and other sales why not just say so and i believe people will answer more honestly myself included.

TV internet connections and sms services are better promoted here on the forum as well.

That says it all, I started the exercise but the further I went the more questions I bypassed and decided to drop it all together.

    Ditto

    same here.

  2. I don't know if there is a comparison to smuggling heroin. It would be the same Sentence in the USA as well so not just Thailand. What the prosecutors work on is the avg death through overdose/ Kilo of commercial grade which in effect makes the carrier part of mass murder/manslaughter and i do believe the figure is in the 100'S per kilo of pure grade uncut smack.

why is a drug mule responsible for someone taking an overdose? the drug mules doesn't force anybody to buy and take drugs.

clean pure medical grade H wouldn't actually cause so much problems for the health of an user. that it is cut and mixed with other chemicals is the main problem and with non-sterile needles for example.

decriminalisation and a controlled sale, like good clean stuff that users can by in a pharmacy and not some dirty smack in a shaddy corner, that could reduce the number of death.

Okay look at it like this. You have a weapons smuggler working for a terror organization. He gets caught with a truckload of weapons so why is he to blame? not like he is forcing anyone to pull the trigger. She was one of the most important links in the chain I mean whats the point of producing this stuff if you cant distribute it. It would be worthless! Im flabbergasted at the responses, we are talking Heroin here no coke or pot or an eky tablet for goodness sakes. Nothing more to say from me except I hope your teenage daughter doesnt play with it but by some of thr replys it seems that you wouldnt have a problem with that . Wonder what the reactions would be if your kids had puncture marks up and down the arms. Any takers? Anyone prepared yo say thats okay? I await your responses

again, all these strict policies, long jail terms and death penalties aren't so sucessful fighting against this social vice of drug misuse. people still doing it. it seems to be part of human nature to seek the use of some recreational drugs. people buying it, and despite the harsh penalties there is the market where it is available. the ban on marihuana or coca leaves lead to some alternatives to smuggle, like cocain. that has a better value per volume ratio. important for the trader/smuggler. or take that real ugly drug Meth, that can made in home laboratories and the ever existing black market on drugs can avoid cross border transport risks.

people don't take drugs because they are just avalable or a drug mule brought them across the border. there are other factors that lead a single persons to the life of a drug addict. the overall society norms, the parents house, education, the curiosity in the young generation , the urge to rebellion, teenage kicks and much much more. the drug mule is one of the least important links. hunting down the single drug mule just keep the prices for drugs up and helps a strong mafia cartel with much better logistics and better connections to keep the monopoly in that market.

anyway, there are a lot of pro and contra arguments about legalization or not or how that crime should be handled by the authorities.

come up with an emotional "but when your own innocent daughter" argument just shows your lack of knowledge on that subject.

  3. that they teaches you that

Perhaps you could take advantage of some of the free English language classes.

    120pxgrammarnazisvg.png

grammar nazi. maybe you should read the forum rules: "However English is not always the first language of our members so don't waste space correcting other members' grammar and spelling where it isn't necessary."

beside that, that "15 years of free education" is not much more that big, big propaganda talk. some 500 baht per year will help the poorest of course, but it doesn't assure an equal change of getting a proper education for everybody.

  4. Chaowarat said in an an interview with Matichon newspapers on June 11 that giving Bt2,000 to the blind was not a vote buying action because blind persons were legally incompetent and not eligible to vote.

    ...

Besides, there was no law indicating the blind had no right to vote as casting ballots was a Thai citizen's duty, he said.

    ...

so actually that stupid remark was just a stupid excuse that the goverments 'social work' (handing out cash) is not a form of vote buying.

  5. Can't access using True in BKK.

i am with true as well and get only a blank page, not an error page or a redirection to somewhere else.

i remember that years if i had tried to access a blocked page i got the green MICT logo and somen text, that informs me that the page is blocked and as a user i would know for 100% clear and sure why i can not access the page.

nowadays is different. the censorship is more hidden. and trying to access a blocked page not always redirects you to and MICT info page. sometime nothing happen or you just get a page no exist on the server message or some other misleading error reports. that is gutless and dishonest. and sometimes also wasting my time, because i thought that is some error on my behalf, with my browser, my internet connection, so as internet user i maybe try a couple of different ways to find a solution for the problem.

recently i got from true that error message http://58.97.5.29/court.html i saw it the first time last week, i think that is something new, because i never came across it before. intreresting that it's also named /court.html

anyway, keep http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ as a bookmark. quite useful, also in a lot of other cases and not just the censorship ones.

  6. So, we have yet another thread about the woman getting pulled by the hair? Is that what this is about?

It seems to me that this thread was started to rehash this event, which was, I might add, discussed on and on in various threads in the news forum already.

Or is this thread about the fact that this photo won an award?

it's an interesting update to that story. that says a lot about the media here and what is going on in thailand. thanks to the OP providing that link.

threads discussing that event in the news forum got closed by some mods for whatever reason and the usual suspects brought to that threads misleading and false informations, willing helpers of a yellow clad propaganda machina.

  7. The more I think about it, the more Thailand is starting to feel like the ...

what i think about it - just a post that is born of an US of A centred mindset. that want to tell us what a great nation the US of A is and how well they have done in the 60ies. mostly about to massage the own ego. and now this average american think it's time that thailand should do the same.

and the crap you can see on TV? that is pretty much the same shit you have everywhere around the world.

but whats wrong with the thai music? or what is wrong with a LSD trip? wasn't that americas sixties? salute to timothy leary. have you ever heard of him?

if there is some similarity between these countries, than is it the ego centred, the own nation loving obsession. but in thailand they don't go out and try to install their concept in other nations.

  8. >>

EnhancePlus, in 1992 popular uprising led to downfall of a coup maker who didn't want to relinquish power. It was led by the same people who led PAD protests for the past couple of years. This time they got rid of Thaksin - another victory for the people.

    ???

    total nonsense.

just look who was leading the camouflage government after the 2006 coup and what General Surayud Chulanont had done in 1992.

or just ask who was a appointed minister of the junta government in 1991 and what makes his son Mark M 16 now.

  9. I don't know if there is a comparison to smuggling heroin. It would be the same Sentence in the USA as well so not just Thailand. 10. The indisputable fact - google it - is that Thailand has the highest rate of penis reattachment surgery in the world. No poster can deny that. The story may or not be true but there is no reason to assume it is not true. But as I say just look at those facts that can not be denied.

so is there a statistic on penis reattachment surgery cases worldwide and the cases per country? which institution count this worldwide cases, are these statistical data reliable?

and in the end is the total number of individual cases per country or in thailand high enough compared to the total number of the population to be somewhat significant and not just odd.

Do your own research, its all out there and not a big secret. Thailand does the most penis reattachment surgeries. Deal with it. But truly its still not epidemic in numbers, whereas the U.S might have had 4 and Sweden like 3 and U.K. 1, Thailand had 40. Its not like the number is 4000, but still.

so where exactly your figures above coming from? and is this per day, per month, per year or in the last 3 decades or what? how much cases in india?

still unanswered questions. are these data reliable and are they somewhat significant?

so not a number of 4000, but still. ... still what? still big enough that uneducated dummkopfs use it as 'argument' to give their racist prejudice some pseudo 'evidence'?

as i said, even if your story would be true, it's total BS and idiotic to draw the conclusions and generalize all thais or all thai women.

and some people here with all their negative experiences in thailand, i think that is mostly a case of that shit attracts flies.

  11. Ah life gives second chances.

I chased the '98 euro eclipse for 2 days trying to find a perfect shot location with good weather

for a 'String Of Pearls" photograph. I had a special extra large frame camera and planned a

chateau lower foreground with 7 double exposures through a filter every 2.5 minutes,

and then one open lens shot of totality and 7 more filtered finishing exposures.

I had picked the ruined Chateau De Coucy and a great wall, but it wasn't to be...

But just before totality it clouded over... it opened up JUST for the totallaity

and I got a nice' Grains of Baily' shot but the String of Pearls was a wash out.

Guess I get a second chance with out too much travel.

Where is my next visa run?

Well the hands down coolest shot would be in Bhutan.

    Location, location, location.

what is the difference between 'grains of baily' and 'string of pearls'?

  12. Then how do you explain Thailand being the number one place in the world for penis reattachment surgery?

It is because of katoeys who get second thoughts after the big snip.... :) .

..actually they dont snip it..or remove it..they basically sorta turn it inside out and re-form it to create the vaginal wall. But thats off-topic. Sorry. :D

Eek, please all I can think of is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKK, and it starts to hurt.. :D

that is not true, i know for sure that all these cut off penisses got stored by evil starbucks girls in the 7/11 fridges, right next to the bacteria poisoned drinks for falang world champions in muay thai. that is the truth - i read it on TV.

  13. is that the full article or are short version and just copypasta of the first lines? why not give the link/URL?

anyway, because the solar eclipse is on 22. of next month and not today or tomorrow seems to be another piece typical crap you can read in The Nation. why this still got past as 'News' on this forum? to be serious, nearly every The Nation article should be come with somekind of disclaimer that reminds the reader on the 'reliability' of this publication.

a good example that even when The Nation writes "Person XYZ had said that ..." it still a fabrication of The Nation itself. and The Nation gets it totally wrong what these persons actually had said in reality.

anyway i love the first sentence:

A Prachinburi astronomer said yesterday that Thais would be able to observe a solar eclipse for about six minutes tomorrow from approximately 7-9.30am.

so you have to be Thai to be able to observe it and this will be only for about six minutes between 7:00 and 9:30 am.

  14. The indisputable fact - google it - is that Thailand has the highest rate of penis reattachment surgery in the world. No poster can deny that. The story may or not be true but there is no reason to assume it is not true. But as I say just look at those facts that can not be denied.

and in the end is the total number of individual cases per country or in thailand high enough compared to the total number of the population to be somewhat significant and not just odd.

just the part of the story where some thai girl make an exact dosage of some 'bacteria' that can trigger a illness for weeks or an outburst of symptoms in 30 minutes make it total unbelievable.

but even if it would be all true to draw some conclusion about the "thai mentality" out of that single case is only typical BS what you can read on TVforum and represents much more the stupidity and the racists undertones of some low educated western foreigners.

  15. "My final answer to was to inquire how stupid she thought I was..."

Well, let's see how stupid...you paid to use a Thai internet dating site, and you agreed to an SMS-based relationship.

    Holier than thou are we?

There is nothing wrong with using an internet dating site.

A viable option to the local cattle markets.

SMS is a logical way to start a relationship.

Thank you very much. I think the holy member has never got off his front porch since 1960. I Hope he has heard of computers & cell phones.

SMS a logical way to start a relationship? i think both entries are making fun of you and the person asking you to send the 10000 baht was probably the guy in the picture below.

  16. You just might not know this if you live in a falang area or tourist area. But the things is, the girl who poisoned my friend almost to death worked in a similar job as the Starbucks girls.

i thought she would work in some super modern high tech laboratory as a bacteriologists.

how she was able to track down some falangs with a desease medical scientist don't even have a name for and than give him such balanced dose of "bacteria", some mysterious "bacteria", so that she could reach her evil goal that he stays sick at home for several weeks and continuously keeping the bathroom occupied?

if you say now that she was just somekind of starbucks girl and not some super scientist with access to some super 'bacteria', your story suddenly become total implausible and unconvincing.

  17. Here it is
This is not a swastika on a swastika the arms are bent to the right

But the anti PAD brigade can never be accused of letting truth and fact get in the way of their favorite pastime . :)

It is a 卍swastika卐, period. Ignoring facts and being unable to seeing the truth is a typical PAD cult apologist characteristic.

Some stories of left spinning卍 or right spinning 卐 swastikas and one is the good symbol and the other represents evil is complete BS. As it is BS to deny or to ignore that this symbol is a swastika. Okay, it is the other way around 卍 than the Nazi Hakenkreuz 卐 but it is still a swastika.

Making a scandal of the use of the swastika and bring this new party close to the Nazis just because of this symbol alone is BS as well.

That logo is around for a while, resembles a swastika and that it has the shape of a swastika, it is a swastika. That was intended by the graphic designer of that logo and got admitted by the PAD.iconexternallink.jpg They are using the swastika, are aware of the history and also the younger history of that symbol, and decided to use it, despite that someone could think this would be inappropriate.

check out this funny url: http://卐.com/ Not an html trick, copy&paste the link http://卐.com/

Check the symbol of Falun Gong, do an image search on swastika on google and you will find many pictures of ancient, Asian and also pre WWII western use.

or just search on google for 卍 or 卐. You will find millions of Chinese language pages that are not Nazi pages.

If you walk with open eyes through Bangkok, through Thailand you can spot the swastika quite often. Like on Chinese temples for example. Or where it is easy to overlook, because you look through, as ornamental element in wrought or cast iron gates and fences. That also on private or public buildings and not only religious sites. I think, if I remember it right, I saw it on the fence around the EGAT building.

Therefore, in my opinion, nothing to worry or wrong about that the new PAD party is using the swastika, albeit I read somewhere that not all pro Pads are so consent about and there are also some concerns on their side. I am in no favour for the PAD and their New Politics, but if they want to use the swastika- why not. As a Hindu or Buddhist, I could maybe argue against its use in this political context, but as a European with the argument Hitler - not.

There are other reason why one could argue that the new PAD party is a Nazi party.

Anyway, I can also understand why some others see the use of the swastika in a political context odd but the TIME article was far from being sensationalists. They didn't open with some Nazi flag, but some indian kids lighting some candles in swastika shape. How you could better start to explain the innocence of a symbol?

I had a good laugh at this line: "the yellow-and-green symbol of the NPP has generated controversy not just for its questionable 1970s color scheme but ..."iconexternallink.jpg This is a humorous sidenote.

And imagine what would had happen if they had sticked to their older colour and shape scheme, the one white disc square on a red background.

  18. Many students seem to be getting one year ed visas just so they can stay in the country and perform other activities. The go to class when they feel like it and in one case this has been only one lesson out of three. This causes a problem for those students who want to learn as the teacher must go back and redo all the work and the students cannot participate in group conversations at the correct level having neither the vocabulary or grammar that has allready been covered.

There are times I have been tempted to pick up the phone and call immigration but this is a bit extreme.

Any ideas on how schools and other students should handle this problem.

    relax.

that is the downside of group work, but if you eliminate always the weakest element, there will comes one day where you are the runner-up and tomorrow the next. imagine, if you can (i guess you never had that experience in your life), how the smart ones feel annoyed by the stupid. but there is not much you can do.

calling the immigration for this is more than a bit extreme.

why not ask at the school to come into some advanced class or change the school. do you take thai lessons for your career or did you start school because there is that one year education visa? did you choose one of these school that have this big advertisings around that promised you a one year visa as the main reason to matriculate? if the answer is yes - you get what you have paid for, don't blame your fellow students.

are on beginner level? possible solution: take an intensive course with lessons on 4 -5 days per week, 4 hours per day and after one , two month you should be able to attend a course with more diligent students, a course on a level that this lazy students will never reach. don't take the only 3 hours per week over the span of one year option - this is not for the serious hard core learner, but for the one who wanted just the one year visa and attending school is an optional plus of spare time activity.

  19. What a bunch of dim-witted censorious moralists!! You actually seem to think that the mere carrying of drugs is evil, and that taking them is terrible, and that this poor woman deserves this sentence. You obviously think that prohibition is sensible and right.

The "war on drugs" is an idiocy that has created most of the criminality in the world today and cost society untold billions and untold misery. Drugs should be decriminalised and state-controlled, with support and care for addicts. That policy would be an immense improvement on the current state of affairs worldwide (except in a few enlightened European countries), costing the whole lot of us far far less in taxes and suffering.

People who support the current drastic penalisation of drug-takers and drug-traders are simply out to lunch.

You've obviously never had a spouse, son or daughter die from the evil of chemicals in humans! The animals that push drugs into people who, for whatever reason, become addicted on the road to hel_l are propagated by these people - I would not waste the bowl of rice on her - the bullet yes! Next. Get a life!

so how many spouses, sons and daughters you had that died from the evil chemicals in human? i am sorry for your loss, but is that loss alone an argument at all that don't need further explanation? does that now gives you the right to decide who should get a life or get life, or the bullet?

read here to find a few more people animals (to use your choice of words) you can chase with your bullets:

The Independent: Parents say heroin and ecstasy should be legal

BBC: 'Legalise drugs, for other parents' sake'

so there are obviously people with a different opinion than yours and you just create some drama without any deeper knowledge on the subject.

  20. Both movies are based on actual events! Its NON-fiction.

    Feel free to search Google

google gives me no clue what you actually want to say when you recommend those movies. so what is the point here?

mhm. it still drama and fiction.

checking with google doesn't make them to documentaries and even then i don't know how watching those movies would teach me common sense.

okay, narrative fiction , let it be books or movies or other kind of art have the potential to be educational as well. no question.

i think everybody here can imagine that jail time in thailand isn't a picknick. so we know that already.

both movies seems to dramatize with an western, ethnocentric and slightly racist viewpoint what someone awaits in a so called third world country prison if getting caught with drugs and having also some additional homoerotic components in it. this movies contain elements that makes them questionable, like the racist undertone. to assume they present the 'real reality' would be stupid.

being unable to explain with own words what you wanted to say isn't so bright either. and in addition to that, if i read comments, like the one below, a comment of someone who recommend to watch this movie to learn common sense and become mature like him, i have some serious doubts that the recommendation to watch this movie came from some smart people.

    RAOTFF,LMFAO

    BR>Jack

    :):D :D

Have you seen the size arse on some of these women jack, so draw your own conclusions

sometimes i think that living in a world surrounded by idiots is a much bigger force that induces people to drug misuse than some mules that brought that stuff across the borders.

  21. or watch the movie "Dadah is Death"...
Every kid & liberal should watch the movie Midnight Express - maybe that will build some discipline or at least common sense. .

You're right....at least it'll teach EU citizens how to treat this breed who with some power in their hands tend to abuse it sometimes even if not in their home country and hopefully watching this stuff let liberal people think the EU is better off without them.

    Aquavitian regards

    hello.

i am obviously not so advanced educated as you film buffs are, for e.g. to learn something i mostly had read books or long talks at seminars. so i don't understand what you are up to here.

would you care to explain how to watch some fictional movies would me teach something and how i could learn specially with these movies common sense?

if you don't like drugs, just don't buy drugs. that should be a very easy task. nobody is forced to take them.

and all this harsh penalties for drug mules and users change not much. it's a pointless exercise, waste of tax money and other resources. the stuff is still available nearly everywhere, even in the different prisons around the globe.

  22. I remember Colin Powell asking Thaksin why so many drug dealers were being wasted up north?!

    His response "Resisting arrest!"

    I rest my case.

    BR>Jack

PS Every kid & liberal should watch the movie Midnight Express - maybe that will build some discipline or at least common sense. .

what exactly could that piece of fiction do for me?

can you elaborate what this have to do with 'common sense'?
