  1. However, the burnings remain the tip of the iceberg in terms ofthe total quantities of drugs seized, and around 22.2 tonnes of drugs remain in the hands of the government waiting to be destroyed, the report said.

    --Agencies 2004-06-23

22.2 tons of drugs waiting to be destroyed? Why don't they burn it all at once?

When the govt. fianally gets around to destroying it, will the total drop to 11 tons due to pilfering by corrupt officials?

I don't pretend to know all the answers, but we need to find a solution to the drug problem worldwide.

I think the first step would be for parents to better educate their children on the adverse effects illicit drugs have on them and society.

  2. Two young brothers decided they were old enough to start using cuss words.

They agreed that the next morning, one would use the word ###### and the other the word ass.

Next morning, their mother asked what they would like to have for breakfast.

    One boy replied, " oh, ###### mom, i think i'll have cheerio's "

The mothert was furious, she back handed the boy off his stool.

then, she asked the other boy what he wanted.

Other boy tells his mother, " gee mom, I don't know, but you can bet your ass it isn't going to be cheerios.

  4. Natee1, I did not come up with anything. It's been done for hundreds of thousands of years. What pi$$es me off is some twit who tries telling me that

'organic' farming is something new and great and that his company is a trendsetting influence in the global food market. Rubbish!!!!

    rubbish is right.

they only say that so they can charge higher prices :o

    al least in america anyway

  5. Posted to ask and give factual findings not to be abused.

    :o

i didn't abuse you. i put in the same disclaimer you did.if you feel abused then i'm sorry. maybe the good people of korat might feel you abused them by knocking their city. i like korat and always find something to do there. just because you weren't "entertained" doesn't mean you should condemn nakohn ratchasima.

all i ask is that you refrain from making negative comments about the area that i live. if it was so bad, would so many people live there?

  6. Another pathetic thread that keeps all you you experts busy congratulating each other cos you can exploit financially vunerable people.......................

you really are a sick , sad lot. I think mass deportation is the answer to many problems in Thailand.

If i was Thaksin, i would order the arrest of every sex tourist, yet you guys talk about girls like they are some kind of toy, take a good long look at yourselves, i am ashamed to be a farang when i see threads like this, no wonder Thai people think we are such a bunch of ######s, you make me sick!

i am not accusing anybody of anything, but has anybody else noticed that the fanatics who scream the loudest about these things always end up getting caught commiting the most perverted acts ?

  7. good lord, some of these posts border on the ridiculous.

you can't change the big problems that thailand faces, so why don't you try this if you want to make thailand a better place.

    1) volunteer your time to help school kids learn english or help them with their homework. be a mentor.

    2) get a group organized to go around and pick up litter and trash in your neighborhood.

3)take a kid fishing or to a sports event so they wont be running around the streets with nothing to do.

    4) help your elderly neighbor run errands such as going to the market or doing some work around the house.

    5) donate time and materials to an orphanage.

the list goes on and on, it's the little things we cand do that will make thailand a better place.

  8. Rex Hunts Footy show did a documentry on footy in SEAsia in about 97/98.

At the time I was living in Singas and playing for the Singapore Wombats. The footy show taped a couple of our training sessions and came to the pub with us to do some interveiws, they interveiwed my Singaporean GF to find out what they thought of Aussie rules football, her comment was "I like the shorts".

Anyway the footy show came with us to HCM City and taped the game we played against the Saigon Saints, of course we won.

The Singapore Wombats were sponsored by Fosters at that point so beer was free.

Meanwhile my older brother was in Aust. enjoying a BBQ with is mates when Rexies footy show hit half time, they were all sitting around watching when next thing there is me taking a mark and kicking a goal on National TV, needless to say he dropped his beer and cr@pped his pants cos there was his little brother on TV playing an international game of footy.

I never did see the program and to this day I would love to get a copy.

I have also been featured in the newspaper and interveiwed on the radio as part of a drug rehab I was working for, but that was a long time ago.

2001 I competed in a white water river race in Perth Aust. called "The Avon Descent" it is a 2 day 140 odd kilometre race through grade 4 rapids, we actually race 8 or 10 horsepower dinghies we build ourselves out of polystyrene and fibreglass, I ended up on TV with that one too. Have a look at Power Dinghy Racing to get a bit of an idea of what I am talking about.

here is a pic of an all girl team jumping a rapid...mismaud5.jpg

i have seen power dinghy racing on television before, and all i can say is, " YOU GUYS ARE NUTS" :o you must be ready for a heart attack after you finish from all the adrenalin flowing. maybe 20 years ago i would have tried that, now too old, couldn't take all the excitement.

more power to you my friend for being able to do that. :D

  9. We tried but go to another city when asking what to do in the one we were in.

Ask me what to do in CM for example and the list goes on and on but it does not include going to Chiang Rai:-)

Checked a few websites pre arrival and all said the same thing. Pimai and Dan Kwiang. Scary!

What does the TAT's say.....can only guess.

Sorry but was at a loss to find something to amuse for a few days away.

Part of travelling about Thailand is to see interesting sights and there are no shortage. Have been to about 55 Provinces but afraid Korat was hard to enjoy.

As i said not a dig just a factual report on two days in Korat.

We are not looking for willd like BKK, but a bit of fun and some sights. Struggled.

the Mall has lots of pretty shops and a dismal selection of eateries unless Daidom, BBQ KIng? and Pizza count. THe food court was ok 'ish.

    I am saying we struggled.

to each his own.i myself tend to direct my activities towards more family oriented

    venues of entertainment.

i'm sorry the good people of korat didn't have the foresight to build a giant entertainment complex to help you with your boredom when visiting their good city. i find plenty of fun things to do in korat. i suspect that you were too lazy to do any research into the area before coming to nakohn ratchasima, you shouldn't rely on other people to fulfill your happiness.

oh, and by the way, this is not a dig at you personally, just factual observation from the content of your posts.

  10. We asked several people what there was to do in Korat and ALL said the same thing. Bearing in mind these were native Koratians....Go to Pimai!!!!

    CT

    that's where i would've told you to go, and i'm a farang :o

seriously though, korat has a very nice zoo and many good places to eat in the area.

tourisim authority of thailand has a good website.

no excuse for anybody to go anywhere in thailand and complain that there's nothing to do.

  11. if thaksin is to be removed from office, i would hope that it can be done at the polls during election time. more violence piled on top of violence can onle be detrimental to the country.  let's not forget that most of us here are guests in LOS.  constructive critiscism and civilised discussion works better than personal attacks and hateful language. jai yen yen everyone.  :o

It won't happen Mango. The opposition to TRT isn't sufficiently organized to take over the country's management.

i guess you're right, dr. pat.

many from the oppisition jumped ship to join TRT leaving only junior members to try and fend off thaksin's policies.

  12. I think Johann is saying that it is not so easy to stop the sex trade, and following your suggestions would not be very effective. I agree with that.

I am wondering, actually, what I and/or others in this forum who live in Thailand could contribute to prevent or reduce the antics of farang childmolesters etc. here. Still waiting for news about the courtcase in Chiang Mai, and I haven't done my homework researching yet before opening a new topic.

Actually Johann seems to be very knowledgable on this subject, always got some links and quotes up his sleeve? Got any information on organizations needing volunteers in Bangkok, Jo?

my suggestion's a start. what would you do? cut off all men's peckers and feed them to the ducks?

yes, yohan seems to be very knowledgable about this subject.

    hhmmmm! i wonder why? :o

  14. if you really want to do something useful about stopping the sex trade in thailand, petition the american govt and other countries to crack down on the travel agents who arrange sex tours.then, direct all your organizations money to the public schools in thailand so the poor can afford to send their children to school untill they graduate.

p.s. this thread has gotten really ridiculous. too much self ego boosting going on here.

  15. no, i don't think thailand needs outside feminists barging in and i'll tell you why.

the thais take a dim view of outsiders telling them what to do, especially farangs.

but most importantly, you will come here without the faintest knowledge of thai culture because you wont take the time to try and understand the thais and assume that they will go along with your program just because you say so.

do your self a favor, if you come to thailand, bring lots of film for your camera and don't forget to wear shoes and cover up when visiting the temple of the emerald buddah. enjoy the food and the charming people and on your way out at don muang, thank the friendly immigration people for letting you visit.

  16. Basically i cant believe anybody in his /her right mind thinks they will be rich quick thru farming

    hi bina,

i think most of us have no dilusions about getting rich quick thru farming.

i myself just enjoy the quiet country life. and if i make a little moneyat it then that's a bonus.

the purpose of this thread is to share information amongst ourselves about the best way to farm in thailand since most of us are farangs from different countries.

i myself have just a small mango farm, but hope to build it up slowly.

others have bigger holdings and after talking to most of them, i have found that they are more interested in farming in such a way as to conserve the land and enjoy the more relaxed life on a farm.

your info on organic farming is very helpful though and i hope you will continue to post here.
