  1. Have had TOT in Hang Dong now since January on a 2meg bit. The beginning months were pretty good for the low package but it slowly went down hill. But this last 2-3 weeks has been dyer, the wife works into the small hours on the PC as like OP said the speed lives more up to what is advertised. Gonna keep on cracking on till the next bill then might see what they say if it's still the same.

  2. These places have no character or charm about them. They seem to be typical examples of Farangs trying to do business on low budgets in order to sustain income to survive here in Thailand.

No difference to when poor Thai people sell noodles within their home to supplement their income.

You might want to take a look before you talk about "Farangs trying to do business" as the chap is actually a Thai national with his young family and just so happens can cook good food too.

    Enough said!

  3. Central has plans to build something fancy and high-end, on the 8 rai or so of land that they own at the intersection of the Outer Ring and the Hang Dong road.

You heard it here first. :)

Which road is the outer ring road? The one Big C is on, or the next one that runs between Saraphi and Samoeng?

I believe the outer ring road is the 121, well that what I call it anyway. right close to my house so that'll be handy

  4. The food is probably OK, but the photos don't give me any inspirations to visit these cafes. As with the new Piggy`s fish and Chip cafe, why do all these places look like lock up garages?

Funnily enough they don't look like lock up garages when they are open as the shutter door disappears into thin air, it truly is amazing you should really see it's almost magical :):D:D:D:D:D

  5. Well seen as the driving test consists of a few badly translated questions and a little machine that you have to stamp your foot on when a light flashes red, don't hold your hope out for a driving school. Do the Thai way and just get in and go.

    :)

  6. Me and the wife and the cat and dog all stayed in a room for two nights when we first moved up to CM, It was very clean and tidy throughout the whole building staff were excellent. They ordered us some dinner as we were to knackered to go out and brought up to us like in a hotel (I don't think that would be standard practice). It can get noisy like someone else said but not that much that it disturbs you. Very convenient for going into town five minutes if that. I thought it was excellent value for money and can't really fault it.

    :):D:D

  7. Why farangs worry about what amounts to a dollar or less is beyond me. I could understand it for Thais making 200 baht a day, but not most farangs.

As I said at the start they demand 100 baht extra which is closer to three dollars ( I'm presuming you mean US$) and that isn't what bothers me, as they would probably get 50-100 baht tip as I am drunk. If they want 300 baht ask for it and I'll haggle or go to the next guy. Don't try and stop half way home almost in a threatening way as it stupid o'clock in the morning and dark.

  8. I just want to see if other people have the same problems I do with Tuk Tuk drivers. I live in Hang Dong and after every night out we usually phone our taxi drive (Mr Yo) to collect us, slightly worse for wear. On a few occasions Mr Yo has not been about, family matters and the such so we have instead opted to fins another way of getting home. Now on every occasion we have used a Tuk Tuk I think 6 times this year they have all hovered around the 200-250 baht fare from wherever we've been in Chiang Mai. Then always on the way home, about half way usually they slow to almost a stop and demand another 100 baht as it is further away than they thought. They know exactly where I live as it is easy to communicate but the greedy bastads still try it on. If I can find a yellow cab after midnight I grab it with both hands and legs but they're not that popular at night.

So is it just me that theyb try it on with??

  9. Hey guys i got a gardener all good and well last time and he's a star comes every two weeks depending on rain if anyone needs one let me know. I am in-need of a cleaning lady now for just at most a couple of days a week. I'm in Hang Dong and its not a big house but me and the wife are both working a little more than full-time-hours now and don't have the time to get on with it.

So if you got anyone spare or no of one drop me a line please.

PS please no replys by agencies this time

  10. Thais do know the law mostly, and as far as the 'wanings' go, (split, solid lines, stop signs, some red lights, stc.,) they realize that it is only a warning, and if they feel it is safe to ignore, they do. No big deal except to foreigners, in my experience. Sometimes they make a mistake and pay the price (an accident) not from the police fine because here they don't have patrolling police.

a 'warning' that they they are overtaking taking on a blind bend, on the brow of a hill, with a 20 ton truck coming the other way that is actually doing the same stupid thing in overtaking dangerously, going approx 2kmh faster the vehicle they are overtaking!!!

my driving experience is that 90% of people in Thailand can not drive safely if their life depended (excuse the pun) on it. Farangs too. :):D

  11. The last time I done it, presuming you have a non b or other similar was to take ur passport and pay 500 baht to immigration for a letter to say ur a temporary resident and can buy a bike in ur name, then down to the transport office with ur wife/gf for backup and translation to transfer into ur name, proof of address is always a good one, but you can probably find a small time lawyer who'll do it all for about 300-500 baht and take the inconvinience of the transport office away from you.

    hope helps
