  1. Do the Labour department and Immigration dept really speak to each other ?

A couple of years ago I finished work for my Thailand employer in May and changed to being employed in Singapore.

It never occurred to me that the work permit being canceled would effect the Visa. I just handed the WP back to my employer on my last day and that was it. For the next six months I still came in and out of Thailand every couple of weeks still quoting the same visa number and never had a question on arrival. Maybe I was just lucky.

  2. This is not a protest demonstration, it has degenerated into a mob attacking anything they feel like. These re shirts are no more than domestic terrorists who must be dealt with before all think that mob ruile can replace the democracy we have since the dictatorship of Taksin was thrown out.

  3. This happened to me in Vietnam once when the TG flight was canceled till next day. VN Immigration gave us choice of either leaving passports with them and collect on return from Hotel, or they would cancel the departure stamp in the passport and gave a new immigration card to fill in. I had mine canceled and caught an earlier flight out of VN without waiting for the delayed TG flight

  4. My Facebook is going nuts too. Except I have friends who support democracy and freedom.

The government has truly shown its ugly face; gloves seem to be off, which is sad.

This is not the ugly face of the government, it is doing what it is supposed to do to restore order to some out of control mob lead by an egotistical megalomaniac with dreams of being the first president of Thailand.

    Lets pray he never succeeds.

  5. I see so many people talk about the problems of not showing a passport, if you send it out for a new visa. But what are the chances of ever being stopped and asked for it in reality. Over the past 15 years I have worked in every Asian country and never carry my passport, keep it locked up safe back at base, and have never once been asked to produce it, the odds must be millions to one of being asked to produce it.

  6. I have always kept bread in the refrigerator here. If you want to use for sandwiches, it only takes a few minutes to recover back to room temperature.

  7. I have had two HP Pavillion laptop, currently a dv6000. This is great for veiwing and editing pics and also playing DVD, this has a widescreen and is fast, though I did add 2 gybt of RAM.

HP well worth a good look at and very price comparable

  8. How about one of the dinner cruises which depart from Shangri-La hotel. These are on old teak rice barges converted into floating restaurants which cruise for a couple of hours up the river. Good ambiance on board and not crowded at the moment.

  9. There are ways to work around the Act. A few years ago I empolyed a Burmese girl as a secretary, also a prohibited post, but we titled her position as " multi lingual customer relations manager", she spoke several languages and had no issue with a work permit. If the employer really does want to employ, it just needs a little creative thinking and I would be sure that with the language skills o your son this should not be to hard to dream up.

    best of luck.
