Well I finally have my ER6 and cant wait to get down to the tracks and start learning the bike, have ordered a sh*t load of stuff for it and hopefully Ill be ready in about a week or so.
Anybody planning on riding/being at the monday the 9th May bike track day at BIRA?? I am planning on coming down would be cool if there were some others there!!
-
Well I finally managed to find and buy myself a non-abs ER6. So now the transformation begins into a 1000cc chasing monster...or something like that...!
Ive already given the bike to Kawasaki this morning to sort out the fuelling, exhaust, intake and rear shock( YSS). But im having trouble getting hold of rearsets for it, At kawasaki they tell me there is a thai made brand, but they are unable to confirm whether they are adjustable or not, so Im holding back on them until I find out for sure, What are you guys who are hitting the track with your Er'6's going with???
Also, I see that tony is running with sportsbike style clip-ons, anyone else doing this or do Fat Bars achieve a sort of similar purpose, Im unsure of which way to go as Ive actually never even ridden an Er before!
Thanks for any help, and I hope to see some of you down at BIRA on the monday track day, which is the 9th May I think.

awesome, the more the merrier, does anyone have any spy photos of the track?
looks pretty long to me, 14 corners is getting like a proper track!
-
Tony, thailand circuit looks great fun, u like it as much as bira?? where was the bananaboy and his zx10!?
managed to source an er6 so should be all set up by february to come down and join in the fun..cant wait!

awesome tony, hope the " rr " goes well! i might be down in bangkok that weekend so will come and cheer on the leading SSR hooligan!! p.s do you reckon they'll let me enter a drz400?
-
thomas, how much for an 2009 Honda CRF450R? are you importing from the states or japan?
thanks.

whilst on my zx10r following my buddy on a 998R at " spirited speeds" along highway 1148, the duke hit a dog at 130-140km/h, dog went spinning like a ten pin bowl, bike stayed straight, no major damage done to either bike or dog( small limp excluding), them thai dogs are certainly made of thick stuff. i thought he was a gonner for sure!!

whos that gay looking guy in the yellow " condom " suit with the fazer? im sure im seen him in my local dwarf bar.....??

interesting stuff, i asked purely out of interest after watching the mpg gauge on the truck bouncing around as i got on/off the accelerator. personally i could never cruise at these optimal fuel economy speeds! I think making decent progress has to come into the equation somewhere and thats why i find about 140km/h is usually what i hit.
-
Driving from Bangkok to Chiang mai a few days ago It seemed to me I was getting better fuel economy at speeds marginally over 120km/h than if i were to hover about the 115km/h mark, is this possible or have any kind of technical explanation or was I just imagining things?
Truck is a 3litre turbo toyota vigo with no modifications.
What speeds do you guys find you get the best fuel economy at whilst retaining a decent highway pace? (i.e not including those of us who dawdle along at 80km/h.)

i came round the inside corner of the moat must have been 5 mins after it happened, there were skid marks on the road, then veering off up over the kerb and down into the abyss. I asked around and apparently everybody got out fine. No-one could tell me though just how the idiot managed to lose control on a straight bit of road.( almost directly outside the old reggae pub).
As one guy already mentioned, my gf wanted to wait till they pulled the car out so she could see the plate numbers for the lotto, that baffled me as why would you want to commemorate bad luck, why not the plates of the rescue truck instead?? so in the end we scarpered before the car got dragged out, great photos by the way.

Max2010, thanks for the advice, although i have only got the thai made doxcyclone tablets. I took them last time i was in tanzania and ended up alright, and a 3baht a pill im pretty happy with them!
Man, I paid a lot more than 800dollars for my tickets, i guess that'll be the last time i use my travel agent then...
I am going to buy us dollars here in thailand and then bring them in to kenya, i assume this is ok??
Thankfully, we fly staright from nairobi to our safari camp so no need to freak out the missus by going to downtown nairobi!! that would be hilarious though!
Patsycat, yes I will try and take all necessary precautions to try and prevent my wife philandering off with the masai safari guide whilst I am there, however handsome they may be.

Does anyone have any suggestions for Travel insurance? I would need only 10days cover but Ive never got insurance for anything before in Thailand so dont really know where to go and what to get. Any advice welcome.
Cheers.

*Amazing* In the center of our town snuggled amongst the farang eateries and shops are hundreds of hookers many barely legal.. it's no Pattaya but we dont often hear of farang vigilante missions to expose the chaps that are promoting this scene!? yawn. He smashed a sign, big deal.

Thanks for the confirmation ExpatJ. Looking forward to the trip now, and yes I am booked on a kenya airways flight, how did you find their service?
Thanks.

Thanks Wormfarmer,
Its actually only the wife that needs the jab, however ive lost my booklet containing the records of all my vaccinations so looks like im gonna have to have another one
-
Thanks for the on-topic replies.
I want to she her or you say that in the US.I believe it was an attempt at a joke, wouldnt have been that bad if not for the mixing up of African tribes and a little slander towards the missus. No need to take him that seriously!
Cheers.

Thanks Dave,
As you suggested I checked with the Health officials at the airport and they advised it is neccessary to have the proof of vacciantion upon return to Thailand.
Has anyone had the vaccination done here in chiang mai?
-
Hi,
Has anyone had a yellow fever vaccination here in chiang mai and can reccomend a certain clinic or hospital? thanks for any help.
How much is typical payment aswell. thanks.

Lorenzo...wow. The boy is on it this year and it looks like his mechanics are finding solutions to the rear grip issues of the yamaha quicker than rossi's crew on the other side of the wall. will be an awesome season for sure.
P.s what in the world is wrong with casey stoner?? looks like a return to 2006 with all these crashes!
-
Taking the missus to Kenya on a safari, upon return to Thailand does anyone know if she needs a yellow fever vaccination certificate to get back in?. I know that kenya doesn't require one to get in but I have read that Thailand wants to see one when you land back in Thailand. Anyone have any experience or knowledge on this??
Thanks.
