I just got back from our local post office and they are still not sure if ordinary mail is an option.
Surface mail was never interrupted and various kinds of express or registered options were there but ordinary 19 baht letters have been suspended since March and even my post office would not offer me this service today. Gave me a number to call tomorrow and enquire.
Inconvenient for me since I sell online and have not made any money since March.

Its not Thailand letting you down its the Junta. If there were a civilian government you would probably be back already but with the current incumbents feeling threatened on all sides ...... well, their incompetence positively shines through.

One thing is noticeable in all this and that is the relative silence of the yellow minions.
It would seem that many that were once in the yellow camp and supported Suthep have seen the fruits of their labours and realise that far from leading to any improvement in the way the country is being run , their efforts have just pushed the country to the brink of disaster and closer to just being a vassal state to China.
Hence, they now have to bus in loyal patriots from army camps.

Well, they also allowed it to rain on someone's parade and someone was probably not amused.
When the PAD occupied government house and wrecked the place ,,,, were their similar dismissals ?
I can't remember.

Had it for 40 years. No big deal.
As the doctor who diagnosed it said, the older I get the fewer outbreaks I have. Maybe only once a year if I am run down. Goes in about seven days. Taking medication not advised according to that doctor. He reckoned if you let it be , the bodies immune system will become familiar with it and learn to cope with it without taking dubious medications.
Don't have sex if you have an outbreak and for about a week after the scar has healed as although it might not be visible the spores can still be spread.
No stigma in Thailand if you have it since as others have said, most people don't know what it is and have probably not heard of it. Even when you have an outbreak its only like a spot on your todger , not some vast growth an inch wide.
Also, when meeting people for the first time don't say " high my name is .... I've got genital herpes ' since its totally unnecessary.
On the plus side ..... it is a virus so your body will be familiar with fighting it . When China unleashes its next deadly virus on us it could be that the only people who survive are those with herpes !!! Every cloud has a silver lining.

Old news (more than 3 months) that you can get it more than once, so no herd immunity won't work.
Some folks don't read newspapers much. As you say , already known fact.

When I was young I used to speak to old people.
Most were in agreement that modern life has advantages and disadvantages.
When I was living in Himalayan villages in the end of 70s, the locals had no technology except electricity, and not everywhere, yet they seem to be happier than anyone I've met in the West.
I agree. When I was young I lived deep in the Amazon for a year with a tribe that had only recently contacted the modern world. It was a moving experience.
Because there was nothing to compete about ( apart from women ) they were much more contented. Ignorant bliss. They knew nothing of temptation and competition and as a result were happier for it.

One year ago today I paid about $350 all in at Samitivej for a complete screening and to have a carcinoma cut out of my forehead and biopsied. About the size of a raisin. She did an excellent job, and there's virtually no scar.
Sorry I don't have her business card, but the biopsy report shows her name in Thai. I recommend her.
Keep in mind Samitivej is one of the most expensive hospitals in Thailand. Long story short... Don't worry about the money- it won't be much. Get it done.
Same here except mine was a squamous cell carcinoma which is more serious than a basal cell carcinoma since it can spread if left untreated.

You have to look for windows that reflect the heat from the sun. Double glazing alone will not change this. In respect of insulation they will bring something if the other parts of your house or condo are insulated too. Otherwise you will not see much difference.
I have covered the inside of all our windows with reflective mirror film. Not a huge difference but for little outlay there is some improvement with the bonus that people cant see in during the daytime.

You can bring in your own drink, but like establishments all over the world they charge a corkage fee. This is a common and well accepted practice.
Not in any of the scores of Thai hotels I have stayed in. Not once been asked for corkage in 40 years.
