  1. Called the embassy this morning waited 25 mins on the line only to be told send a fax or email so i said i already had she gave me a number to call to speak to someone who could help due to the fact my wife is so heavily pregnant. I rang the number and it said that no calls can be excepted only faxes and emails.

We are all at the mercy from a system that has absolutley no room for law abiding, tax paying, citizens. They just dont give a dam!!!!!!! :):D:D:D:D:D:D

Rolypie, I sent two emails, I assume along similar lines to yours and got zip all of a reply. They do review special cases as the Mrs' friend got hers accelerated as a visa was needed to attend a funeral. If I remember Tango7 got a quickish reply too for special circumstances. I guess the pregnancy issue for the Embassy does not warrant special treatment. One thing for sure they are not keen to enter into a dialogue with the 'customer'.

  2. Seems my crystal ball was wrong this time. I bought the bloody thing from Pantip, so not surprising really! :D
    :):D:D:D:D Nice one

Now get out and buy a better one

Indeed kennkate. On the strength of 'mystic' mrburb's crystal ball I did not bother putting any cash on Wednesday's lotto. He said I would not win. Now I know it's from Pantip I think I'll have a big splurge on Euromillions tomorrow.

By the way kennkate, get a move on your holding everybody up.

  3. Good luck from me Johnson83 :)

Nice 1 Johnson83. Hope all OK.

I spoke to the wife today (Friday) and a friend of hers had put in an Spouse Visa application a couple of days after ours (30/03) so early April. She has received her visa today and flies to the UK on Tuesday.

So, in the current climate, why the speedy Visa reply? The husband faxed/phoned the Embassy in BKK to accelerate the application as his mother had died and the funeral is next Friday. Note, a Dr's certificate was faxed for authenticity etc.

Obviously fair enough as far as I'm concerned. It shows that the Embassy staff have a degree of discretion.

Question - I put down the wife's date of travel to the UK as 23rd May. In hindsight this was optimistic to say the least. When our friends in the Embassy get round to hopefully stamping the visa what date will they put the visa valid from? I'm assuming they will contact the Mrs first to ask what the 'new' intended date of travel to the UK is??

  5. edited to add feasantplukka to the bottom of the list.

Cheers Sumrit.......... hadn't spotted I'd missed him! :)

You may already have discussed this, apologies if you have, but another consideration to take into account (when forecasting dates) is that as from the 2nd March 2009 Bangkok has been processing all the visa applications from Vietnam to the UK (always did Laos & Cambodia). Good eh? On another thread a well informed source has said that UK applications from Vietnam are 'significant'. So, what are the odds that the UKBA have (a) 'resourced up' and (:D 'trained up ' for this additional work? Just guessing here, but I'd have a stab in the dark that this could be one reason why we have seen a steady(?) increase in processing times and the stock answer "12 weeks".

    Good luck to those successes.

  6. I think we are all having an uneventfull week so far :D last week we were given a boost with the news of a couple of posters getting their visa's, but so far this week we have no mention of any granted visa's, has anyone got any good news to share :D:D:)

    Thought I join in.

Settlement Visa for wife applied for on 30th March. Heard zip as per some of your posts. Wife now 19 weeks pregnant, knew when I submitted the application and included this fact into my sponsor letter.

Sent email last week to the Embassy ( not VFS) last week, no reply. Sent a follow up yesterday. Not confident that I'll get a reply.

Online tracking - what a waste of time. Agree with previous posts i.e. my expectation was that it would give me some kind of progress.
