  1. Alternatives would be to start a company in your home country, and work for that company in LOS as an office

to set that office up is, as i understand, even more hassle, and way too expensive.

just make it your hobby like mentioned above! (situation 1) - situation 2 is a different story im afraid

many people are doing this and im sure you already read quite some posts regarding that topic around here.

keep it quiet and youll have nothing to worry: if theres nobody blackmailing you, immigration police will not have the will and the manpower in the first place to be combing cyberspace for you anyway...!

to do it 100% legally: you will need permission (wp) and you will not get it

  2. found it quite easy to change to xxx@truehisp - AFTER reading their letter properly...

wasnt at all satisfied with stupid slow service before july 1st - most of the times it was slower than connecting with loxinfo at 56k...!

now i think its great! fast downloads but sometimes service is not available with some servers. things could be worse and it helps knowing when a problem is only temporarly.

  3. using a - fairly expensive - prestige 600 router for TRUE adsl (now TRUE hispeed) as i am connecting to a mac laptop (ethernet-connection) and it works fine!

had to have it setup though as i didnt know enough about the tricks. which is why i didnt bother buying it at panthip again (no service, no moneyback) but with a shop that would set it up for me.

still have a spare one of the beforementioned d-link dsl-500g (ethernet router) for that reason - anbody interested? :o paid 2600 for it, sell for 1800

  4. somebody says 1 ,somebody says 2,I will go to Penang,Which terminal shall i go ! so confused

been flying airasia to penang on the 29th june, checkin counter in terminal 1, same that thai airways is using (saw it with my own eyes and actually checked in there). none in terminal 2.

terminal 1 is at the northern end, terminal 2 to the southern, next to the domestic terminal.

when driving up to the terminals you get to the site right before the terminals where you will be asked to look at the righthand signs to determine what terminal your airline is operating from - theres an airasia-sign for terminal one, too (well, was on 29th june)

but, nothing to worry anyway, as you can easily walk from one terminal to the other in 5 min. - its actually a much shorter walk than from the passport-checkpoint to the gate...

hope, this will do, have a nice trip!

  5. you should apply for a work permit

    @duke 69

i am in a similar position, german passport, freelancing for a german company, getting paid in a german account, paying tax in germany, living in thailand.

how / on what grounds would i apply for a work permit?

  6. dear forum,

i am a 32 year old german passholder staying in thailand on a multiple non-b visa that expires beginning of september. i will make sure i am crossing out and back into thailand before the last day of my visa to stay an extra 90 days - allowing me to stay until end of november/beginning of december.

as work has not developed the way it was planned, i do not have a work permit, nor a job. i am however still in contact with the thai-german company that initially sorted me out visawise. they just couldnt get my position (or the customers for the branch) ready so far but will keep working on it.

i am planning on going back to europe for xmas and to get another one year non-b visa in d'dorf again - hopefully with the help (letter of invitation) from the same company.

now there are two things bothering me:

    1

will i have problems being granted a visa showing basically the same letter, new date, again but still not having obtained a workpermit? just like that company i am not in a hurry to start working with them in the nearest future as my farang-girlfriend is already earning here with permission and i do have income from germany.

    2

for i cannot leave earlier, i will have to stay in thailand a week or two longer than the last possible stamp from my visa will take me. what is the best way to cover that period? will i have trouble getting a 30 day tourist stamp after a visarun? what is the downside (i.e. residency status) of not being able to show consecutive non-immigration visas? (i will at some stage start working here, get a work permit and stay for years). extension i reckon is not an option as i cannot produce any required papers yet?

    any ideas appreciated - cheers!

  7. i have all the paperwork which the consulate/embassies require for a multi entry NON B,including the workpermit,Will i be able to get a Multi NON-B in penang?

    No, not anymore.

one of the booths outside the swiss hotel/chulia str - supposingly being very reliable - on june 30th offered me a non-b MULTIENTRY if i bring all the paperwork which the consulate/embassies require

so it appears they are available again?

as mine is still good, i never tried...

  8. Does anyone know which TV channel/s will be broadcasting the Euro 2004 matches in Thailand ? I think ESPN will not be showing the matches (I could be wrong).

    Jem

    hey jem

dont have a telly myself but there is two free thai channels showing the matches live (not sure thou if ALL of them and how they split up...)

right: nobody wants commercials during playtime!

  9. It starts at 1:45am so it's pot luck as to where's open!!

The Game is on Sunday 13th of June @ 00:45 Thai Time Kick-Off (Portugal is 5(five) Hours BEHIND BKK Time and not 6 as is the case with the UK).

could someone please clear up on the exact time the matches start? dont have a telly so maybe could someone check times with the thai tv channels?

as far as i know, portugal is other than the rest of europe in the same time zone as london, am i right?

    cheers!

  10. cheers huski! thats exactly what i was expecting to get (hoping)!

reckon the distinction visa/extension was reason for the confusion...

yeah, got 90 days when entering thailand on that visa last year - but i have been to burma on the stamps expiration date, so i got sorted for anpther 90 until april anyway...

seems to be the usual way!?

    thanks amillion!

  11. sorry, if this has already been answered in here - couldnt find anything suiting my case:

staying for nearly 6 months in thailand already. going to frankfurt, germany on monday for a week before coming back to bangkok again. passport is german.

staying on a non-immigrant business visa whats good for one year and is saying "good for multiple journeys". when doing my visarun to burma, all i got was a "departed" stamp and upon return the desired 90day admission.

been hearing roumors about a re-entry stamp that i will have to get (and pay) when leaving bkk-airport - otherwise my visa will be void when coming back. (it should be fine until september)

does anybody know what this is about? is it just the departed stamp they are talking about, which should cost nothing? and does that stamp only apply to none-multiple visas?

    any help is appreciated!
