  1. Hi John

I have been looking for containers my self.

    I faxes these people http://www.containerconstruction.com/en/catalog.php?idp=9

    They offered the following

I've got your fax required 20' dry container 2 nos and 1 nos of 40' dry container this morning.

    Please note below price

    20' = 35000/nos

    40' = 46000/nos

I then visited them, The containers I were offered were about 40% good, they had come to the end of there working life.

I now plan to try and buy s/h containers direct from the shipping / haulage companies, Laem Chabang, Chonburi I believe is the best place to search, I understand that there are several companies from Chonburi, that list in Yellow Pages,

Good luck if you find anything please let me know, and vice versa

  2. Fireflyz is having problems with its on line booking service, alot of people have tried to book on line using a credit card and the transaction does not seem to process, There website does not accept payment nor decline it. Neither is there any ticket confirmation.

I believe that in some cases money has actually been debited from peoples cards.

I was advised to turn up at the airport and insist that fireflyz staff check if money has been debited, etc, and take it from there. Forget about calling there call centre the number is either constantly engaged or there is no answer.

I have also discussed this with a travel agent on Koh Pha Ngan who has registered as a Fireflyz agent, she tells me that she is very frustrated that she also can not make any booking on line booking at present either.

I really do hope that they can sort out these glitches, as the Samui to Penang service is a blessing for many tourists and expats who stay in this area.

  3. Might I point out the first rule of TV:

    1) You will not use thaivisa.com to post any material which is knowingly or can be reasonably construed as false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, referencing prostitution (including bargirls and barboys), referencing suicide, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.

This thread matches none of the above, the whole tone of this thread is of people discussing a subject in a very intelligent and adult manner, I for one have enjoyed it immensley, lets keep it this way, this is Thai Visa at its best.

  5. The Who

In 1970 The Who released Live at Leeds, which is thought by many to be the best live rock album of all time

In 1976 The Who played a concert at Charlton Athletic Football Ground which was listed for over a decade in the Guinness Book of World Records as the loudest concert ever.

  6. Mozzieman - if you'd read the whole thread you'd see I was repeating what another forum member wrote (i.e. "only farm in Thailand if that is what you want to do.....").

Maizefarmer with the greatest respect I have read your OP several times and no point in it do I see any indication that another forum member wrote

... and the golden rule: only farm or get involved in agriculture in Thailand if that is what you want to do - there are a thousand other things to do here that can make a lot more money with a lot less work.

I took these to be your thoughts.

Please correct me if I have made an error.

  7. There are many people who work at the full moon party to look after the party goers including medics, radio hams, lifeguards, navy, volunteers who clean the beach (I have always wondered why volunteers have to clean the beach this should be paid for) and of course the police.

I have several friends who work at the Amphur and on FMP they have to work at the full moon party to help manage the crowds.

However I do think more could be done, the FMP is a money spinner for Haad Rin, the traders themselves may not be making that much money, but the landlords are commanding sky high rents, perhaps they should contribute more, because with out the FMP they would not have these rents.

It is also worth noting that there are a significant number of party goers who go completely over the top and behave in the most irresponsible, primative and reckless fashion and pay the price, sometimes the ultimate price, and leave it to the over stretched rescue services to pick up the pieces.

Personal responsability has to come into the equation.

  8. The number of workers and visitors who stood looking and asking why is there so many wires for the lights has been highly amusing. I am beginning to think my house is the only one in Laos with individual lighting radials!! :o

Sounds like you have been very thorough

Does this mean you have run a cable back to the consumer unit for each individual light circuit in your house, and have you then put each individual light circuit on its own breaker?

  9. A topic ripe for controversy.

So Maizefarmer how about something more constructive, tell us about the thousands of other possibilities for making a living in Thailand.

... and the golden rule: only farm or get involved in agriculture in Thailand if that is what you want to do - there are a thousand other things to do here that can make a lot more money with a lot less work.

I am all ears (or eyes in this case) too

  10. Happy Hammer,

Thanks for the link brought a tear to my eye and made me feel a little home sick looking at Ewood Park as it used to be.

Not so sure about the haunting piano music he has chosen to acompany the footage, it reminds me of the type of music they use to play on documentaries about a nuclear holocaust (the scenes after the explosion)
