One is going back to his home country after 15 years in order to set the wheels in motion to move back permanently with his Thai wife and kids, as a direct result of the tightened Thai visa regulations and not being able to get an embassy letter to support his visa extension any more.
The second guy is very well off and has been here for a similar length of time. He's on a Non OA visa, therefore required to have medical insurance to renew it. As he's over seventy, that's not possible. He also has a family here, but is now considering moving to the Philippines.
Yes, the insurance requirement is a racket.

about 12,000 7/11, about 1,583 Tesco, about 100 Makro, about 700 Big C, about 1,200 Family Mart, and ... and ... and
Star Bucks, McDonalds, KFC, Swensens, Makro, 7/11, Family Mart, Watson and many others.
You are covering your beautiful country with foreign businesses, it is practically a sell-out of the country!Yup, and they throw their trash in the street.

If your ex is Thai then all she needs to do is file a complaint (anonymous if she prefers) and they will have to follow up
File a police report anonymously?
There is no such thing.

So they're getting 100,000 baht (at a guess) for endorsing such products and for the cost of a mere 5000 baht fine they get further publicity... Hardly a strong preventative message being sent out !!!
It's a long standing joke.
Making fake claims is very profitable in Thailand and the average Thai consumer is an easy mark. Like taking candy from a baby.

You don't understand the rules of corporate PR - all promises and projects are re-set every year, you're not supposed to remember ones from the past.
Yes I remember CP 7/11 gave similar lip service recently. Funny how that works.

As predicted. The military Junta is here to stay. I'm only surprised that anybody even bothered to vote.

The Chinese have destroyed large tracks of land all over Laos doing this exact same method. The poisonous chemicals used makes the land unusable once they have finished.

Looks like the U-turn was blocked off and not making a "new" one as stated in the OP. Perhaps it was closed by some bright officials?
