do you have any other stories from 1971 ?

Actually, it was early 2007, just before I moved here. I think they were selling, mail-order, for about $150 at the time. After shooting the bull for a couple hours, the guy basically handed me a twofer.

I'm actually a likeable guy. I once talked a CHP down from 100MPH in a 55, to correcting the address on my dated license, basically a fixit ticket. I think it cost $10 for the new license.

To be honest, I can count on one hand the times I've seen a Thai wearing a Shoei or Arai helmet around here. They use the 200 baht ones from Big C which are about as much use an an ice cream tub on your head. Last helmet I bought in the UK cost me £350.

Before coming to Thailand, I wandered into the Shoei headquarters in Tustin, CA, hit it off what a guy to turned out to be the West Coast district manager, and walked out with 2 ST Cruz half helmets for $150!

Jewelry will always have a "labor" charge. I'm inclined to think that this would be at the shop's discretion. But, it is doubtful it can be negotiated.

Bars are the better "investment". The shop we use charges 150 baht on 1 baht bars. Five baht bars a sold at spot sell price.

Bars aren't as "pretty" as jewelry. And, they are harder to show off. However, with the higher prices on gold, jewelry is more likely to make one a target.

Thank you, that's interesting. The Boss car should have pushed the bike a long way at that speed, surely the bike tires would have been shredded/long gone. What do you believe the photo indicates, does it support the speed claims? Just interested.

Edit: it's been pointed out to me that the photo is just a mock-up of the event. Sorry for being dumb.

The placement of the vehicles is a mockup. The motorcycle is a prop. However, the car is the actual car. Can't recall ever seeing the motorcycle involved.
IMHO, because the lighter object would tend to be pushed, the fact that it did so much damage to the car might suggest the car was traveling at a significant speed.

The bike slotted into my wing just like this, still standing and wedged in after the impact.

A lighter object, plowing into a heavy object, is quite different than a heavy object plowing into a lighter object.

A heavy object, impacting a lighter one, is likely to propel that lighter object, causing a lessor impact. A lighter object, impacting a heavier object will be less likely to budge the latter, resulting in a much harder impact.

I would usually agree...however this is Thailand. My own experience and that of thousands others, is he will be letting himself in for a lifetime of blackmail..both financially and emotionally, bribery, sadness, <deleted> you couldn't believe....and all that for a child he dosnt want and won't even legally be his....move on and let her deal with it...seriously forget and don't look back.

Maybe he should have thought of that beforehand.
