Just wondering about U-turns maneuvers?

Who has the legal right of way? the main road driver or the person making the U-Turn? in Thailand,

i begin to wonder?

After a few years of driving here, still don't get the sense of some drivers attempting this maneuver? cutting up traffic, to their best interest!

What are the traffic laws regarding this if it causes an accident? who is at fault? for insurance purposes as well?

never really found an answer? glad i have in car video now? shows some interesting situations on Phetkasem Road, not only U-turn then crossing 3 lanes of traffic quickly to get into a side soi! or Big C.

Have you changed the fan belt recently?

I had a simliar thing on my vois, belt looked old at 3 years old and done 21k, so got service to change it. (it runs on both sides) Had bad vibration and squeak sometimes then (more from cold) but noticeable when hot. Took it back service, was not tightened enough, it has to be very tight, with very little slack (seems to tight) but cured the problem.

Have you had, engine bay cleaned? by Toyota, maybe something problem after? otherwise?

Can you confirm that the 2000 Thb camera is still working well and that it's enough ?

Does it use SDCARD ? I think a eye-fi WIFI sd card would be good to upload videos to computer automatically.

Did you by the cam at Pattaya or BKK ?

I bought my video from Pantip - HD DVR portable DVR with 2.5 inch screen extra for SD card 16GB. from a good shop there 1 year guarantee. cost me 1,000 baht, he had the same with a socket for HD lead to plug into TV, only differeance but cost 2,000 baht.

seems to work ok, but you need to set it up right? loop record, and HD sreen size, recording times, etc but otherwise ok, it just needs getting use to. I had a problem a few days after, with someone cutting me up, he stopped as well. I just talked to him and said smile please you are on camera!!!! he quickly sped away!. and i had all the details, which i download to my computer which is enough for me.

I have just updated my gps map from version 2012F, to new map 2012S (December update issued).

This new map now does not have features of ILS/junction views anymore - pictures showing actual junction view - detailed in split screen.

This applies only to English version map when run - Thai still the same and have - be aware!

Spoken with SpeedNavi - not enough room on memory card so they deleted feature in the English new version, they are considering adding back in future versions (devices) that can run larger memorys.

This seems like a backward move? it was previously inline as good a powermap! ILS/junction views was agreat feature! showing detailed junction details.

They don't even mention this change in there update notices!

Ok, lets hope they change back in the future.

I am going back to 2012F version and live with updates, hopefully in next update they will reinstall, please

^{Today I went to District 2 office at Talingchan to renew my 1 year licences for car and motorcycle and to make 5 year licences now for both.}

^{Took all copies documents with me, including Embassy letter, for address- i must congratulate them on an excellent service and a friendly service with a smile. I was tested again (colour test now traffic lights) and brake test / alinement test.}

^{I walked out with new licences in 1 hour total (i went around 12-00pm) it was not busy at all. only about 20 people waiting to test, but the tests were very quick this time.}

Chiang Watanna does not require any specific proof of address that I am aware of. I just write address on TM.7 each year.

I went to Cheang Watthana immigration last week to get a new residence letter from them so i can re-new my 1 year Thai driving licence upto 5 years next week, as i 90 day report on my non 'o' visa.

Told me 3 weeks to get it (can't believe that long) anyway. i can also present my 90 day update form to district office when i go.

Can i use this letter for my non'o' extension application at immigration later this month also? do you need a proof of address for a 1 year extnsion anyway, as i 90 day report anyway? save me time and agro to go to British Embassy and pay even more money for the same thing?

What do you think?

went to my Bank today (Bangkok Branch, The Mall Bangkae) on other business, to get a new book and my misses enquired about a letter for funds in my account as we need one in 2 more weeks for my non "o" visa extension due then.

They told me - new policy change now? this year, it takes 3 days to get this letter now? as they have to contact your Embassy? strange.

Has anyone herd this from Bangkok Bank? for the last 2 years got it the day before in 1 hour easy!

What about - branch at Cheang Watthana downstairs from Immigration, has anybody got a letter recently? or is this my branch making things easier (HA-HA).

Thank you for your interesting. PR-VS08(G) have 2 model : Speed Navi Version 3.0 and Speed Navi Version 4.0.

But you don't worry because you can upgrade map version 4.0 to PR-VS08(G)

I will double check next week when i go into Zulex and make sure, i can run both, or its the units they sell different. I have also e-mailed SpeedNavi, to ask them about changes and how long they will run version 3. See if i get a reply? from them.

Does anybody have any reviews on SpeedNavi GPS maps? what is the difference between version 3 and 4 (besides price).

I currently run a in dash dvd/gps player in my Toyota vios - bought via China a while ago? runs with Sygic gps map on mini SD card! great map but i cannot get any up dates? only though original supplier. (nameless) but lazy to up date, my map.

Spoken many times with Sygic, they cannot supply me? disapointment i must say (great map- where else can i get a new version and save mage bucks) for my current gps player/ otherwise i would not change my system. Can you convert a mobile map, etc?

Ok/. i am going to change over next week to a new Zulex player! with SpeedNavi map? and just wonder how good?.

reasons, for - can obtain updates, (twice yearly) bonus!

I have been watching this post with interest last few days

Glad to hear softgeorge, got his visa accepted ok.

I have been in this situation for a year and half. I applied to courts for legalization of me being father last year, then transfered from tourist visa to Non in 'O' then applied for a 1 year extension last year.(without leaving the country). you must have 21 days left minimum to transfer though across.

(see my previous posts) process through courts, was painless, but took about 6 months to completely finish at amphurs office. (i paid about 10k total) I used G.A.M to help me.

It looks like i can carry on with my yearly extensions still (thank God). at immigration.

I know and understand what relief this latest news is to many fathers.

I am currently on a visa for supporting my Thai daughter (living in Thailand) and i am the legal father after going to court and obtaining the paperwork and amphurs registration afterwards. (section 3)http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/381917-how-to-gain-parental-rights-as-a-father/

My visa extension is due shortly again in a couple of months.

Does this mean i can get another extension or not (we are not married)

Does anybody have the current info on road conditions between Phetkasem road junction (around the Mall Bangkae). Coming from west and going onto / and coming back turning - Phetkasem road onto Ringroad No.9 Kanchanaphisek Road and going down Frontage road.

I am planning to go to Makro Bang Bon store there tomorrow? using the frontage road.

Also i want to go further round ringroad to New Ikea store later in the week? what is the condition of the No.9 Ringroad to Bang Na to Ikea store.

Hi There/. here is Phetkasem Road (this afternoon) it's over ankle deep and at the Mall it is 1 metre deep - pictures near soi 67 taken today - It seems to have slowed down for now. North and south side only 1 lane open, with caution - but very busy with lots of traffic though.

Soi 69 Phetkasem now fllooding from Klong along side it (south of Phetkasem Road), water running down full length of soi, also running down side soi's (67/1) and will soon join Phetkasem main road.

can you help me please? my friend travelled down last Saturday from Nong Bualam phu to Bangkae? ok till he hit Wang Noi? on No1. road, only 10 kilos from 9 ring road, it took him a further 7-8 hours to get to Bangkae? crazy journey Police would not let you use the 9 road any direction?

WELL! he is travelling back this Sunday (leaving here) am to travel back to Nong Bualam phu?

normally go - 9 ring road (west) and then No1. and No2. etc

Any suggestions - how to get home (other than by boat)? how is the junction with 9 ring road and No.1? any suggested routes to get back home, using GPS?

HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to immigration today and got my Non in '0' visa for 3 months (after changing from tourist visa) - so happy after all the agro/ time imvolved.

(did'nt have to wait long) you jump the queue upon results. They stamped my passport with ' admitted 20th May - until 17th August - Non 0 visa.

Also attached a note ' 30 days before this visa expires (0n 17th August) Please present the required documents to support your application for a 1 year visa.

So I will go (early again) on or about 13th/14th July and apply for my 1 year extension with TM7 form (30 days prior to this current visa finishing).

Ok/. i can close this post now/. (hopefully) this will help others in same situation/.
