Black t-shirts don't make you badass past 70 ????????????
So much for being the voice of reason now that you've shown your ageist self. They'd be OK in white though? And walkers?

It's not about the writing though is it? The fact that this is a treatment strategy says everything not to even mention that it's the Sinovac vaccine. I will never trust serious medical treatment to Thai solutions unless I have no choice.

Happened to me once. Refused it and branch mgr said you must. So I did and then contacted the farang representative for that bank with a TV acc't. Not long after the bank called and asked me to come in. They returned my premium and thereafter I got VIP treatment even from tellers because I was "connected" LOL

What? The dishes are not spiked with ganja at all - They're just using the leaf as a garnish. P-ss poor reporting from the Nation as usual.
There are no hallucinogenic parts of the plant in the meal. Leaves, roots, non-viable seeds and stems from cannabis and hemp are off the list, but not the flowers and buds which are still under Category 5 of the narcotic drugs list.
Next weeks story; A crazy new restaurant has dishes spiked with parsely. W.T.F
HA! Do you know the difference between parsley and pu**y?
Nobody eats parsley. -

Not to mention what is made available to the school children at the school and near the school. Sweet snacks, sweet drinks and salty snacks in mass quantities. Then that consumption becomes normal in their lives. What a battle he has with a 2 year timeline.

That's what i have been told. I signed up a transferwise account here but i am not sure how to credit the account from here ( send the money to transferwise)
I think there are multiple ways but I always use my Visa debit card. Quick simple inexpensive. Guaranteed exchange rate for 72 hours I think.

Not related to VN but I use Transferwise to send money to Thailand. Quick, inexpensive and no hassle all via web. Sometimes done in no more than 2 hours.

Passe and dated yes. However it is still what people believe. I am back in the States now and judgement is swift and universal if I reveal my expat life.

Such a classic example of the outlandish things the police will say in order to have the correct outcome. Repeatedly. They must be having a good laugh in the privacy of the station.

Sorry but that s the most stupid suggestion, soap is made from bones, i have seen rats teeth marks on soap in my bathroom, after that i used it in rat traps to huge success. edit; I would also advise not to put rice in the car ie rat food.
Somehow I do not think you are really sorry. You do like that stupid word. I think the MOST stupid suggestion would be to use peanut butter as a deterrent. All I know is that the suggestion made to me in good faith by locals with successful experience emphasized that it had to be a heavily scented variety. Irish Spring was one and Coast was another. I omitted brand names in OP as they might be so region specific. My car was in storage from Oct until Mar and there was no sign of mice anywhere near it. So I guess I just got lucky and they had other food to eat.
-
I have done what you are doing. And YES - mice was a problem. I have since learned that if you load up your car inside and under the hood with the shavings of a very strong smelling bar of soap that keeps the mice away. What soap that is in Thailand I am not sure. I just use my knife to turn one good sized bar into shavings then spread them in the car, under the hood and on the ground under the engine. No mice. Not too difficult to clean up in the unlikely event that you can ever return. ????

Greenmonkey I salute you! I would have bet that you experienced this in Ranong. I renewed 6 consecutive years and the 7th year while in dealing with the IO I gave up, she won, I said never mind and left. So for the past 8 years I have been 6 months in Farangland and 6 months in Thailand on METV. Life is SO much better. However the office in Hua Hin is the best I have ever dealt with and I probably would have stayed full time if I had that experience.

Can I please ask, how you guys handled the stamp in / stamp out of Myanmar, after clearing the Thai immigration on your way out - and obviously before entering back in Thailand ?
My experience was that if you approach the immigration window on your own they would turn you away and direct you to an agent. That person would collect your passport and arranged for you to be transported through no man's land get you Stamped Out get you stamp back in and you would pay that person a fee. I can't remember exactly I think it was 800 baht. No doubt this is shared upward appropriately, and I believe that accounts for why no one will be turned away if everything is in order. The part I didn't like was the wait for the transport across the border. I saw numerous Vans full of people going without a weight and I assume they paid a higher fee that included Transportation Etc. I traveled out of Hua hin to do this tip and I turn down a fully organized offer that was 3000 Baht for more again I don't remember exactly.

Good info. I did not know busses ran to the border. I negotiated 700 baht last May. He seemed unhappy but He did It. A bus would have been better than the back of a songtao

My landlord owns 2 condos for investment and rental income and lives in her house here. She defers management to the condo staff. Many, if not most here are rented out rather than owner occupied. I assume that the staff reported my stay. I do not plan to chase the TM-30 topic with staff as I come and go. It does not seem to be so strict here.
-
This is another good example of how "the rules" vary from one office to another. I just returned to Hua Hin on a METV, where I rented the same condo as last visit which ended 5 months ago. Last time the condo staff said "No - you go" when I asked if they would register me. So I did armed only with a rental agreement and I did successfully file a TM30. Condo staff said the same this year and after some confusion at the immigration office another IO intervened in the transaction and clearly stated that as I have a tourist visa it is the condo's problem and not my problem. They sent me on my way. I informed the condo staff.
-
Every now and then one of these denied entry reports mentions tea money openly, or subtly, being requested. I think that is what this is really about. A METV is a flag that it is important for you to be here therefore "pay my toll". If you are too dense to figure it out - off you go then back the way you came. That will be my assumption if denied entry in the future or re-entry on my current METV when it is time to see Vietnam and return.

So now you understand that you aren't entitled to live long term in Thailand. It is unfortunate that some consulates are issuing inappropriate visas, but the visa applicant now knows and plan accordingly. After all first time visitors seem to have no problems, it's only those doing repeat visits that are being questioned or turned around. It could be that those processing the paperwork at most consulates aren't always Thai and/or are clerical staff, whereas at the airport the IO is actually a police officer with much greater authority. It like consulate shopping to get the best deal.
It's really good that now everyone knows what to expect.
Oh RIGHT! You know more about the requirements for a tourist visa that the people working at the consulates. Did you know that I had to show financial means? A return ticket and submit my passport for their scrutiny. You apparently do not agree but people who come here for months at a time on a METV are living within the description of the visa. I do not work here. I am happy to leave and explore other parts of Asia. I abide by all the rules and laws.
Saying that we know what to expect - you mean expecting to perhaps have to pay a bribe to get in? I wondered if I would be refused entry and or asked for a bribe to be allowed entry. If you seriously think that the police are simply doing the real vetting then you CHOOSE to overlook the bribery topic. And if they were actually vetting then wouldn't it also follow that ALL METVs with history here would be turned away.

Why did you give up the Non O retirement visa? It seems like the ideal visa for you. Was the lack of the embassy letter an issue?
No, I can manage the money topic....I got tired of the BS at Ranong Immigration. The ONLY IO working that desk at the time would refuse to speak English and somewhat make it up as she went along. No matter how prepared one might be there was always something else to return for. Delivered with a smug <deleted> attitude. Comparing notes with my mates their reply was "Oh, you mean the c*nt?" I am on my 3rd cycle of NO extension of stay and life is much better.

I like The Tavern on Soi 4. Good staff good food. All seating is at the U-shaped bar (except the outside smoking seating) so it is great place to chat with people from all over.
