  1. Unless you want to bus it (and I do not know what the route is likely to be) then you are on a flight from Chiang Mai and another from Bangkok to Buriram.

I would seriously consider pricing a taxi.

Sorry!Boys! All posts - not true.Airline which served Buriram - had gone bust recently;it is in another thread here,so at the moment

there is no flight connection to Korat/Buriram/Surin.

From ChiangMai you have good overnight buses to Korat, from there - it is only 130km. - but it is slow 130 km;transport options on this sector

are poor:local train, local bus(2 hours). You can fly to BKK,go to Morchit, take long distance bus To Buriram(6 hours) or express train(6 hours).

On one train you can have sleeper.Go by bus to Korat and from there you can arrange car - if you are tired already.Sector BKK-Korat is very fast by bus, they go every 15min.Do not miss BuriramPizza there - pure delight!

  2. I am not person, who remember how much I pay for cab here or there;once I traveled from Swampy to Morchit, there was 350B on the meter,

together with 50B surcharge and 70B highway fee it made 470B,I had rounded it up to 500B.Driver made funny-amused face - I thought:

"He thinks:you silly falang,I have just cheated you and you give me tip!"

I was very right, recently I traveled the same route twice, once meter was 225B,second time with slower traffic - 250B.

It is possible to rig the meter. It is not our imagination, they do it.

  3. The captain informed passengers before landing that the windshield cracked and one of the four engines stopped.

To be perfectly honest I'd rather hear that after we'd landed.

Seconded; apart from that how on earth is it possible that those 2 (completely different) problems occurred at the same moment ? What has an engine that stopped has to do with a cracked window ?

    LaoPo

birds - one on window, one in engine

  4. Your not going to have much joy activating it on 2 computers, I believe what you are trying to do is illegal so the thread should be closed unless there is something you haven't mentioned.

Do you still support your claim about legality of this thread in light of posts #5 an #6?

Are you nurturing your HappyNewYear hangover here?I mean - you overreaction?

  5. I am sending quite a lot of parcels to LOS,many years.Only one - was not found, but in fact it was collected by another family member and was consumed. So,Thai Post delivered all of them - 100%.This is my experience. They were always addressed to Thai person, never to me.

I used registered mail packets, air mail parcel, surface mail parcel and courier.Sometimes - there was duty, not more then 1500B for electronic items.Usually - boxes arrived not opened by anybody.

By rules - sender can trace parcel, not addressee;and today,in internet age it can be done very easy.

    I have a lot of problems,when I send to my own country,thats a shame!

My advice to OP - setup a trap for your postman, trick him and catch him,you can do it easy.Analise what sort of items were lost,

    when I send - they do not charge me for receiver's confirmation,its automatic,if I enquire from my side(sender) - they tell me,exactly

what is my item position, and when it had been delivered or collected;if not - they know that:for example it is in customs, which is trying to call

addressee without success(addressee on holiday) etc.all by email.

Send something, using friends/family as sender,so the item can be traced by them - you will know the vanishing point and quickly you will

know who is kamoying you.You may expect surprise(?).

  6. I have seen nothing identifying her yet.

It was not only me,who investigated this problem. Some other friends were looking for my friend with better

result.I did not talk to her yet,but she is now in another location - very alive. And she complains - what this commotion is about?

It is 3 weeks already and nobody claimed lady diver? No friends, family, boyfriend, neighbours?nobody missing her?

    She must be very cold.

  7. I noticed that if I use the program mp3gain and set from 89 to 105 db, than it is a bit louder but the sound quality is bad

Nobody answered you so long - you need advice?I never heard about your player, but I have Creative830 earphones and they are very good.

Probably you are right about EU regulations regarding max power output.

    Before you buy new mp3 player,try this:headphone amplifier,but I suggest only this model:"FiiO E5" will cost you 20 or 30 US$ and your

mp3player will sound much more better.FiiOE5 is cheap, good quality and very small. It looks like old i-podShufle.You can read about it in

www.techpowerup.com,you can buy in amazon.co.uk or www.hifiheadphones.co.uk or www.ownta.com(this is HK shop).

If you want new mp3 player - try Creative, you have earphones already. The best deal from them now,I think,is their old model

"Zen MX" with 16G memory;it has SD memory slot, not micro, but you can use microSD in adapter. You can buy it in TH or online from Creative,

150$ only.I do not suggest "Zen X-fi".Even better option is Sansa Click+ and SansaFuse from SunDisk. They take microSD,but you will not find them in TH,try USA.

  8. I think, you are not from Thailand,so probably you do not know about GPRS-EDGE short term solutions available from

AIS and DTAC or TRUE.They can not be called broadband mobile, but they work. You need USB dongle or proper mobile handset and of course

local SIM card,SIM cards are available in mobile shops,7/11,tobacco kiosks - anywhere.DTAC has good reputation for reliable connections.

You will find all necesery info somewhere here in ThaiVisa - in many old threads.

  9. There is a saying:

Those who have castles at the border, and those with beautiful wives - must be ready for war.

Smack them hard in face - there is no limit for cads. And she will like you more.If you stay passive - your relationship may suffer.

One idiot presented his bare dick in front of me and my beau.He had big instrument, but tiny brain - it did not help him at all.

  10. There again with the "Perhaps" and the "Maybe's" Because she is not screaming for help just let him go at her? You people make me sick. You're all cowards in my book. You do nothing to help a woman being beaten in public then you are as low as the man doing the beating. Perhaps he was trying to rob her and she was too scared to yell out. Perhaps she knew a further harder beating would ensue if she did. It is not "Thai culture" to beat your wife or gf in public, or private. It is simply wrong no matter where you are. You have been here so long you seem to have lost your moral objectivity.

Thank you to those who still give a shit about other people.

First of all with the nick: "ScubaBUDDHA" don't speak about culture.

Find yourself a new name which is not ScubaJesus and not ScubaAlaha.

than sit yourself down and recognize that you are not the center of the world or the worldpolice nor the USA is.

Than read some history. Always the Americans went with very good intentions in conflicts (therefore we love the Americans) and every time it was not appreciated by the conflict partners and it ended with cruel and murdering millions of people, in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq (therefore the USA is hated).

Neither you nor the USA are the judge here or anywhere else who tells this is right this is wrong. It is simply not your business.

h90! - couple of weeks ago I did the same - and I criticised Scubabuddha for his nick.

Then I had landed in the country where Buddha was born.

    First - I noticed:"Buddha Air",then half a dozen of bars with name:"Buddha Bar".

I think - this is not any issue for Buddha followers!? is it for you?

He can have his "scubabuddha" - no problem at all,but I like more - "scubaninja"!

  11. Yes, you should be able to find that connector setup at Pantip. Or, get it made there. I'm always surprised at the custom work those shops can do.

But, if not, a suggestion for temporary increase in reception. (There are many examples of this around the internet.)

Just Goggle usb homemade antenna strainer

And, click the first one for the example.

In my travels, I've used a kitchen strainer like this (bought at a local market) with a USB wireless (thumb-type) card to get wireless signal that my onboard laptop card was struggling with. Just use a USB extension cable (one meter) and tape the USB to the handle of the strainer.

Not rocket science really, but a little bit of fun, ....... and it actually works.

try big frying pan - used in chinese cooking;it is cheap, and you can use it in kitchen or in family wars(heavy!)for protection or as a weapon.

  12. Well I still don't see anything on any of the local rags. Maybe I will reach out to some of the people I know and ask. I am very curious to hear more for the story. Sucks that someone somewhere is or will be shortly missing her .

I shouldnt write, what I had posted here before, but I was very edgy about the subject of this thread.

    I think,I am afraid,that I know the victim.

She is not answering;mutual friends not answering, picture is not clear, everything else fits.

    Time to take action?

    Yes absolutely. Time to act.

Anyone with information that could help identify the woman should contact Patong Hospital (076-342633-4) or Kathu Police (076-342719-20).

You think she is an expat then? If so, it's likely many of us know her, or know of her.

I am working hard to figure out where is my friend. She might be on diving course(she is diving instructor).

It means - sometimes 2 weeks without tel/internet contact. And she travels a lot.You ask,if victim is farang? - you can see yourself blond hair.

I do not want to name my friend before I am sure, that she is missing.

Few years ago I had this experience:there was some tragic accident, just before Christmas,I have left to my country.I came back after N.Year and everybody was greeting me with shock, like they were seeing ghost.

Newspapers published picture of accidents victims, one of them looked a bit like me.It was not nice experience.

Relevant authorities are responsible to identify victim - we can help of course.I am out of LOS,if nothing comes out - I will make visit to that dreadfull place where they keep dead bodies.

My old friend died in Phuket yrs ago - it took 3 months to find family, and it did not bring him back - once you are dead - you are dead.

  13. The Airside Transit Hotel has shower, sauna & gym facilities avbl at reasonable cost.

    http://www.klia.com.my/index.php?ch=95&pg=291

This applies to KLIA int satellite terminal bldg NOT the LCCT used by Air Asia where there are virtually no facilities.

I do not agree about LCCT - first, you can not stay in transit there cause there is no transit traffic, but in LCCT terminal you will find plenty of restaurants, and walking distance away you will find very new Tune Hotel, its hard to get room there without booking, but they have showers.

Immigration/Customs in KLIA is very fast and easy - you can go to down town, stay in Hilton?have fun?KLIA Airport itself was famous for fun

some years ago - international high class "ring" was operating there, then there was mighty scandal, but if you are lucky?may be you will find them again?(in the vicinity of Transit Hotel).I do not repeat some roumors - they tried to hit me more then twice.

  15. a ton shells on it while the guards do something else. (I just remember the marine nationalpark at chumphon full of fishing nets just 15-60 (up to their speed) from the guards.....

    Sorry, can't understand..again?

Yugoslavia? (Bosnia/Herzegovina) Aren't they pretty much landlocked? Maybe just a single port on the Adriatic?

Man!First - change your nick, cause you offend religion of the country you are in.Capito?

May be we should complain to TV Holy Moderators?

Second, may be you are very young, uneducated,or simply UI?

Yugoslavia - some time ago,but not so long time, had quite long Adriatic seashore starting from todays Slovenia, passing Dubrovnik,MonteNegro,up to Albania.

Where are you from, btw?I bet,I know - from one mighty country, where they do not teach geography?

  16. Why would he need to pass through immigration to check into a TG codeshare?

So would I need to pass immigration or not?

What does a codeshare flight mean? My ticket says flight is operated by Thai Airways Intl but has flight code of AI 6313. I have booked with Air India. So where do I check in? Air India counter or Thai Airways counter? Do both of these airlines have a transfer desk check-in facility?

    Any help would be great!

    Thanks,

I ask that because you arrive and leave on international flights with no luggage. Logic would suggest you just go and transfer rather than pass through passport control twice, but that's not to say that's what actually happens.. I would call AI, but I think you should be able to do this assuming Thai AirAsia uses the normal terminals etc.

Edit: I just read q3.. You won't really have time to do a tour of the city, so that doesn't come into it.. You don't need a transit visa just to stay airside.

This thread is waste of time and space here, some replies as well. Why he wants to go through immigration for 2 hrs transit and when to do city tour?Better get sobber before posting anything here, some sleep will do as well.May be he is 10yrs old boy travelling on his own?

  17. I stand corrected.

I went Wednesday to the same Aeon at Airport Plaza in CM where I was told last week I would be charged the 150b fee.

Although the friendly fee warning message is no longer displayed, no fee was charged and I got 100.04% of the xrate IER.

Amigo!Good news!My GF and me made some experiments. She knows about 3 Aeon ATM places:Central,Lotus,Lotus in Hangdong.

She made verbal inquiries - the answer was:we will charge.

However - nothing has been charged. We did it 2 times - 2 weeks ago and yesterday.

  18. M1 - shop at Orchard (Basement of PARAGON-Mall) has competent staff who will help u to set it up, if needed.

charge is S$ 15 for 3 days, if I remember that right. not necessarily a cheapo, but most probably cheaper than at any hotel if the WiFi isn't free there.

speed is okay, at least if u r used to the pathetic Thai EDGE-connection....

My price was Sing-tel - last week. I looked around the 2 IT malls Funan and SIM square in details too.

You can buy these things(USB broadband dongle) in 7/11 shops in Singapore, anytime.Registration through very hi-tech scanner is compulsory(they scan yours passport and send it to central comp)

I can recommend StarHub,M1 - not.You can buy broadband SIM only if you have your own dongle(not locked) or - 3G mobile.

If you are in Malaysia - they have just introduced the first prepaid broadband SIM by Celcom:20 ringitt(200B) will give you 5 days unlimited "fair"use. No registration!Very easy to use.

This is the best service of this sort anywhere, available in different mobile shops and kiosks.LOS will follow - but I am not sure - when?
