Re: the Most Inner of Inner Bangkok
Just walked up and studied the San Saeb canal as it goes under soi 3 Nana. It is raging, do it's best to carry all that west Pathum Thani/Lumluka run off westward to the Chao. About 18 inches below where it would flood. River tax running.

I agree; this 7/11 thing is really disappointing.
No Lay, no Coke Zero, no good Trident sugarless, no Heineken, no good baked goods, no water.
Maybe CP Foods will analyze it when all is said and done and work on new suppliers and supply routes.
Then again, maybe not.
At least they continue to employ and pay all their clerks in the face of what must be some really slow sales.

Baggage handlers ( who are paid on average around $ 93 000 USD a year)
Is this true? That's some sick money. That job should pay, what, $50,000, $55,000 maybe, right?

That's no way to run a railroad.

Personally, I believe you earlier posters may have the translation a little wrong.
I believe it says:
Yellow and blue shirts pay double.

Way to go Governor Sukumbond.

Well, the Japanese certainly know about blowing things up; ask the guys at Pearl. But I say destroying Bangkok's key thoroughfares (Bangna Trat!) is simply not enough.
I don't work for Toyota (or even Mazda for that matter) but I suggest the selective use of thermonuclear weapons to clear a few channels between the water and the sea is what's really needed.
Now where's the USS G. Washington, and more specifically it's arsenal, when you REALLY need it.

re: panicking
The four women, actually three girls and woman manager, who served me at McD's just now in the heart of BKK were absolutely laughing, giggling, loving life and being Thai (i.e., talking about food).
I guess they didn't get or read the memo where there were supposed to be hiding in the corner.
What a croc articles like this are.
You do not understand Thailand very well do you?
No, I've only lived among the Thais and been in the classroom with thousands of them for six+ years now.
What would I know?

Midnight.
Nana dry as a bone.

Thank you Samut Prakan.

Thailand, meaning Bangkok, the part that counts, will be like Singapore.
Unfortunately, for those of us on a budget, it will not be as nearly hospitable as it has been and still is.
I am incredibly thankful I moved over when I did (2005).
And started hitting it hard when I did (1998).

Rolls Royce, the maker of the engines.
Well, that certainly explains everything.
When do they switch to Pratt & Whitney?

Funny. The dude puts down one big city (Bangkok) while living in an even bigger one (Singapore).
