I am a retired British Soldier and whilst like most people, we enjoy a social drink/party, you would not survive in the Army if you had an alcohol problem and would be medically discharge. The British Army is a highly professiona organisation with very well trained leaders and are all Regulars (except the TA). They are an outstanding fighting force, albeit now very small, and have a "will do attitude" when thrown in to a multitude of scenarios - such as Firemen, Ambulance Drivers, Rescuers et al. Were you ever a member of the Armed Forces I wonder?

I would agree with you in part. There are many people who have been locked up because they have voiced their dissent about the Government and "the Like". And whilst I did not do a degree in Business Studies, the common feeling (and according to the press) Thailand has lost it's position compared to other Asian Countries, which it cannot afford to do. Also the amount of alleged coruption I find so depressing, which effectively is robbing the people of wage increases and the development of the Country in General. Personally i am in a very good position. I have both a lovely Thai Wife with great Parents, I bought her a small Resort so when I am no longer in this World, she will have a good personal income, she will also inherit a Rubber Tree Plantation of 60 rai and about 100 rai of another plantation with a house. I do have a fear and that is if the Senate blocks the new colition from taking power. I think this might just be the straw that breaks the camel's back as the Thais are sensing a better and less restricted way of life.

So exit tax of 1,000 baht to stop Thai Nationals and long stay Foreigners spending too much overseas and then 300 baht to get back in, but with a limited medical coverage. I can understand the latter recommendation to a certain extent, but the exit tax is nothing more than a rip-off. What about a Family of 4 - they would need to spend 4,000 baht to get out and 1,200 to get in, making a total of 5,200 baht. Absolutely barking!

Yes flights are expensive as Bangkok Airways own the Airport so rule the roost. However, cleaver people like yourself would get a inexpensive flight in to Surat Thani and then take a bus/Ferry to Koh Samui. But sadly you did not include that in your rant! As for expensive taxis, we have outsourced taxis for Airport Transfer at 400 baht. Expensive???? Duh! clearly this person knows for little what he is talking about. I have lived on Samui for 18 years and have found the locals (in general) to be nice and helpful people. Much prefer them to UK/Europeans. Prices are outrageous and the people (like this Guy) sadly are so miserable looking and often have an attitude.

Not to mention two week delay to get anything repaired, if indeed they will repair it and priced out of this World. Sad thing is that some people after living in Thailand overlook the good points so they can have a good moan at the bad points. Suggest you have a little trip back to your own Country to remind you of all the downsides that you have overlooked there?

I think most tourist would be disgusted at the staging of animal fights. The developed world has moved away from that disgusting form of entertainment and I rather suspect that it is to pander to the local Thai audience. Day before yestesterday I transfered money from my UK Bank to my Thai Ayudhya (Krungsri) account and it was successfully trasnsfered within one hour. It sounds like the problem lies with BKK Bank and not Wise?

First of all do not associate Koh Samui with incidents on Koh Tao! I have lived here for 17 years and sure there is the occasional shooting/murder on this Island, but nothing compared to Koh Tao. If I were the Village Head, I would ask the Police to do an autopsy to clear the name of those living on the Island. Having said that I am above average fitness for my age and about 4 years ago I had a Deep Vein Thrombosis, which fortunatley was spotted by my Wife and I was immediately whisked off to hospital for a check-up and treatment. But as I say, an autopsy would clear that up.

When I was commissioned, I swore allegiance to Queen and Country and her successors and Harry will have done the same thing, which he conveniently overlooks. I also wonder why the Markel Woman does not get on either with her own Family and her In-Laws? Is everyone else such awful people and being unpleasant only to her? One can only imagine what it is like in their household? Yes they have a pot full of money, but I imagine that they spend most of the time revelling in their misery. So sad.

Why? The Thais are returning to Thailand from a foreign Country that allegedely has people infected by the virus. How different are Thai People to the rest of the World coming to Thailand. Does the virus differentiate by Nationality? Or is this just another case of Anutin's xenophobia?
