Tourists flock to Samui Island before New Year’s festival

Who ever wrote this needs to go back to school to study English and I am surprised that ASEAN NOW has just lazily copied it! -

Naval Male Nurse Mysteriously Missing After Being Rescued
robertson468 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A very brave man who went back in to the sea to try and rescue his shipmates. I hope he survives, although by now sadly it is highly unlikely. -
This is beyond rediculous! The Air Force sends a fixed wing to search, with very limited vision of bodies in the sea and the Army, some three days later offer their helicopters. Do these people not care about the service personnel? The whole system needs a shake-up from top to bottom and not only the negligent Captain of the vessel Court Martialled, but some senior Naval Officers asked some very difficult questions regarding safety on their ships. This is not an accident, it is an act of negligence!

Transferring money from the UK
robertson468 replied to bannork's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I totally agree. I have been using Wise for over a year and they are inexpensive and have an excellent exchange rate. Before you complete you transaction you will see a drop down menu that asks what the transfer is for. I always put for living expenses and have had no problems. Good luck! -
Samui Immigration refused to process the renewal because the bank documentation had been done the previous day. We had to go back to the bank and make a deposit to prove........God know what? Samui Immigration are always exceptionally picky and always find a "new rule" which my Thai Wife and I suspect is a ploy to "under the counter payment from us". But we refuse to fall for it.

Happens quite frequently at Koh Samui Immigration, but they don't seem to have the sense to phone to check that you are in, despite several documents having my phone number on. Last time they came just as I was going out and advised them that they are not doing themselves any favours and got a little bit grumpy when they implied I should change my immediate plans to accommodate their inefficiency!

Old men drinking a beer at breakfast time in bars along beach road pattaya.
robertson468 replied to jack71's topic in Pattaya
When I was Stationed in Germany one quite often would see the Construction Workers break about 0730 hours for a beer and sandwich. Part of the German Culture I believe. -
You clearly have either a very limited imagination or intelligence. Quite often husbands buy houses, record the ownership in their Thai Wife's name, to make the ownership legal and then run the additional houses as a little letting business. The big mistake was trusting the maid to stay and take care of the properties. Personally I would invite a trusted friend to take care of the property and would be happy to pay a small stipend for doing so. Perhaps they did so with the maid who then betrayed them by leaving, or was threatened by the theives?

Thai man in apparent psychosis causes a scene in Pattaya
robertson468 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
This does not say every voilet psychosis issue is linked to cannabis, however, this happened to my Grandson after frequent use of unregulated cannanis and now has to live with recurring periods of psychosis. Your submissions are as exagerated as the press for over stating issues - perhaps you should get a job with the newspapers? -
Wise Card
robertson468 replied to Sparktrader's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Been using them for over 6 month and never had a problem and transfer every month from UK Bank to Swift Account then to Thai Bank. They use one of the more favourable exchange rates I know of. By the way ATM fees are charged by the Bank who owns the ATM, not Wise. -
Nagas Approved As Thailand’s Mythical Emblem

Wonder no more! We have both Russians and Ukranians renting our Villas which are very close to each other and have not had an incident (so far!).

This ruling by the Thai Government comes as no surprise to many, but is very sad for the Nation. What they are implying is that because of their incompetance they are unable to regulate the brewing of beer, the Government is worried that some Craft Beers could make people ill due to this lack of regulation. This reflects very badly on the Governments ability to regulate issues and as many others have said, leaves considerable doubt in many people's minds, why they have refused to allow Craft Beer Brewing. The Public should be allowed choices, but sadly are so, so suppressed they dare not raise what would be constructive objection against this rule, thereby expanding the choices of this industry.

159 guns stolen from Pak Kret police station, 30 retrieved so far
robertson468 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
The level of not only total incompetance, but rampant inefficiency regarding weapons security is unbelievable. There should be clear and strict rules issued from the RTP HQ on the control of firearms. If they don't have them already, then the senior General is to blame and should be brought to account as to why there are no rules. -
Thailand abstained on UN vote to have its voice heard – FM Don
robertson468 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Dear FM, do you not think that by failing to go with the UN vote it actually enhances Thailand's standing in the World Community? If you feel it is right to support one aggresively rogue Country and it's corrupt acolytes, which are far less than the majority who do vote with the UN proposal, you clearly have a different view on how to enhance your world standing. -
For many, Thailand’s UN vote on Russia still a puzzle
robertson468 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What ever you do, do not mention that initially Thailand joined the Axis Powers in World War 2, until they realised that they were to weaker coalition and jumped ship. Thailand sadly is still a very immature "democracy" and many Western Countries have little respect for a Country that lives from coupe to coupe. Don't misunderstand me, the People, by and large are lovely and very friendly, but the political class would appear more interested in their personal life then "serving" the Country. -
I think this article would have been far more interesting if they did a comparison of child fatalities in other Countries. As it stands, this is nothing more than Thai Bashing!
