  1. There is a art gallery on walking street not far in and i think its called something like k c gallery its not far down walking street and opposite an ice cream parlour, there used to be a artist sitting just inside painting and was extremley good at doing horses, he was oldish but not ancient, unfortunatley when we were there this month we took a photo for him to paint and was so disapointed to learn that he had left, one of there other artists done one for us and it was ok but not as good as the other would have done, i know its a slim chance but does any one know where he has gone to work.

  2. The Music Bar at the Royal Cliff is doing a two for one Happy Hour, after 5pm I think. Its around 180 Baht for Heineken. You also get some very nice nibbles and nuts with that. Good deal.

Probably a good Idea to put that in the Cheap Charlie Thread here

What kind of music do they play there? Does that bar have a view? Royal Cliff is a very nice hotel and for sure worth a trip every once in a while...

Think Craigt3365 is on about the existing bar in the Grand called Chrystals they always have the happy hour, i wanted to know about a new bar and i think restaurant they have opened, i think it is actually down on the beach from how the promotion/advert reads that i had come through on my facebook wall, if it is, there has always been a bar/cafe there open in the daytime anyway, whatever they have done being the royal cliff i am sure it will be done very nice and classy and being on the beach it will have good views.

  4. Are you guys made of money? You'll be paying the equivalent of, I would think, £10.00 for a small bottle of Heinekin or Bud but if that's how you get your jollies, go for it. Just around the corner from your hotel is The Mattahari, a great restuarant where you won't be ripped off but I guess at £3.00 for a bottle of beer and a nice bottle of wine will only set you back £25, that's probably far too cheap for you to contemplate.

Dont know where you get your prices from but its not quite that expensive, last time we were there (last november ) it was £4 or £5 for a bottle of beer, we havent been to the Mattihari but intend to try it this year as went to Manhattons last year and really liked it there, we only come once a year so like to live it up and what price do you put on luxury? The sevice and treatment we get at the Royal cliff is second to none so is worth a little extra but saying that the prices there are on a comparison to other simular hotels and restaurants in the area infact it is some what cheaper than some that we have been to.

  5. Has any body been to the new bar/restaurant called Breezeo at the Royal cliff yet? we are due to come out and stay there as we normally do in november and was wondering what we've got to look forward to.

  6. Found some videos of drives along Thappraya Road. This one is from 3 weeks ago I think. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=MuEg4-SrLGw

His speaking norwegian in the videos with sound. There is also a video of a drive along the new part of second road. Not looking too bad even if I can understand the frustration of living in the middle of a road work in progress.

Thanks, this was perfect as we could see just what the drive down to jomtien from near where we stay at the Royal Cliff is really like now, it doesent look too bad now as when we were there last November we gave up going down to Jomtien because it was that bad.

  7. Ok, so you want factual information and you think my post are childish. Other people might find the humerus, but we have a different crowd here.

Here are the facts, these project started roughly 5 years ago and the entire road stretches appropriately 3 miles. To date, they have fully completed less than 50% of the project. And during that time, they left the roads and surround area a disgusting mess.

Due to there extremely slow work numerous business have suffered sever financial damage and quite a few of them were forced to close.

Over the 3 mile stretch there is not one single inch that is fully complete. The sections where the road and sidewalks have been finished, the landscaping in the middle of the road still has not been worked on.

In anther section where the road has been completed, there has been no work at all done on the sidewalk or the landscaping in the middle of the road.

For approximately 1/3 of the road they have not worked on at all, they have torn up the sidewalks and left the material right where it was when it was torn up, making it impossible to walk in that area without walking in the street and dodging traffic.

Those are the facts from somebody that has lived though this entire mess. It has totally disrupted my life and destroyed my business.

I have not seen any work at all on this project for at least eight months. I personally find it so sad, that if I did not laugh at it and attempt to make a joke out of it, I would end up be depressed over it. Since I refuse to let that happen, I choose to make jokes about it.

For the rest of you that lack a sense of humor, you now have unquestionably the most complete and accurate answer to your question.

Sorry Billaaa777... and heres me just worrying about it being a slight irritation to my holiday but as i said in my second post how sorry i felt for the businesses down there, at least we are only there for one month a year, dont know how you put up with it when you are living there and its ruining your lively hood cant imagine you get compensated in any way !!!!!

  8. Update anybody please as posted this topic some time ago, are they any nearer to being finished yet as am coming out at the beginning of november and really do prefer to go down to jomtien most evenings but last year found it intollerable with the road works, i feel sorry for the businesses along that road as they must have really suffered.

  9. True Inter Sim, you can buy it in most 7/11 or Family Markets. Valid for one year. Think its one Baht a minute.

Make sure it is the TRUE INTERSIM card...it is about 59 baht...

It will say INTERSIM on the SIM card package.

and allows calls in and out of Thailand.

From Thailand to UK & USA is 1 baht per minute when you use the

True Intersim Card access number...to many international calls...check the list.

    Have it..Love it!

    tj

Is the access number when you dial 080 or 090 or something like that before the number you are dialling ? what is the correct number ?

  10. Any tips on the best place to exchange GBP in Pattaya please.

    H&H

    Hi H&H,

Go to soi Rungland, just off Pattaya thai, near tonys food court,as you turn right into the soi, there is a shop about 50 yards on your left, always the best rates and you dont need a passport for cash.

Thanks Somtampet, where is Soi Rungland and Pattaya Thai ? although we have been coming to Pattaya for 8 years now and can find our way round quite well we find it hard to tell what roads are called apart from the obvious Soi 1 2 3 etc Beach road, second road, also what uk pound to thai baht exchange rate are you getting if you are out there now ?

    Thanks in advance

    H & H

  11. Without a shadow of doubt the very BEST rates available for GBP US$ and EUROS is the T & T Exchange booths on Pattaya 2nd Road. Coming from Pattaya Tai the first booth is closest just 100 yards down on the right. The second booth is on the left hand side of the road but further down but before Royal garden mall.

Sorry to be a bit thick but what or where is Pattaya Thai ?

  12. second road opposite soi 6, big building has both sauna and steam, and cold pools, was 250 per day with free fruit and water, hopefully still same price but not sure.

Yes I occasionally pop down there, called "Business Club" or something like that, very friendly, newspapers and tv in the lounge area.

    For aircon service I use K Witaya Tel: 086 089 0027 or 082 203 9128 cost 400 baht per unit.

    Thank you all so much,

The need for sauna is to clear skin and head , as said by others steam room must be clean, but both are great and going outside is not close to the same.

    Thanks again to all.

Try the Royal Cliff beach Resort, they have a gym and im sure they have a sauna and i would guarantee that it would be clean and of a very good standard.

  13. just for a start, google this "rent car driver pattaya", helps a great deal already...

Tried this as you sugested but was hoping to find some one or company on peoples reccomendations, and as we have been coming to Pattaya for about 10 years now we know we need to air on the side of caution as to who we would hire but thanks anyway,

    H&H

  14. Can anyone tell me who would be the best car and driver to hire while we are in Pattaya in November ? preferably a good english speaking one, we would want to hire for half day/day for sightseeing etc or evening to go out of town to restaurants and wait for us while we have our meal, if so what would be a reasonable price we would have to pay for this?
