Like one 65 year old woman Bowen therapist, went from being a Covid nazi, husband wasn't allowed in the house, spraying everything etc, to ceasing her clinic, watching FOX all day long in lockdown, Trump supporting, rabid anti vaxxer all in 8 months. An astonishing transformation.

I would be mildly interested to find out what the profile of a typical anti-vaxxer is, both amongst Thai people and amongst board members. For instance whilst I was in Australia recently, I noticed that amongst friends, colleagues peers etc (people I actually knew) whose vaccine views became apparent to me they were all middle aged to older females. There were 5 in total at least 4 had some level of involvement with some level of alternative medicine, Bowen therapy and the like and at least 3 were in my opinion, barking mad as far as their opinion of Covid went, like it doesn't exist etc, all the vaccinated will die etc. Maybe the males keep their views to themselves. On Facebook etc males seem to be more prevalent with their over long, never get to the point videos. Often blue collar workers such as truckies.
Whats it like here? Around my village quite a few people are definitely anti-Sinovac. On this forum there seems to be a few, mostly newbies looking for an argument or is that just my perception?

Bad news for anti vaxxers? I suggest if that's what you mean, come right out and say it.

I just think its going to be a long slow process. Whether the powers that be, or the many here who make a living of it, are expecting that I don't know. Perhaps not, from the prevailing narrative. There are many factors at play, not the least of which is that most people in the West have probably decided what they are doing this festive season, the Chinese aren't allowed out and there is no indication that Indians or Russians will be allowed in here. The long term decline of the traditional Thai tourism that most of us might have been used to, will continue. More girls on line, less lines of beer bars. The aim to get higher quality tourists is pure fantasy. Long term it will be less and less of them, and more and more cheap charlies from India, Russia and the Middle East. In the end they may get back to something approaching capacity but it will be less money all round. How they spin this, as it unravels is anyone's guess. And all that is provided they drop all the entry hoopla.

Yes Luma was 25k for 9 months, the one I ended up with was 15k for 12 months

Luma has a 270 day option. Or did less than 1 month ago.

This Covid insurance will be the last hoop to be junked on the rubbish heap, if at all. An average 3 week tourist would barely notice it. Anybody on 12 months extensions better start timing their entry/exits to minimise it if funds are tight. Particularly if there is no option between 6 and 12 months worth of it as I found through whichever ripoff I went through.

All this talk of online makes me laugh. In the village down the road they gave out homework for a while. The kids had to take it back on a Monday and get new stuff. Then one of the teachers that lives on site tested positive. So the challenge or concept of receiving and delivering contactless homework was too much so that was abandoned. That remains the situation months later. There is absolutely no online as far as I am aware in any of the local public schools. Unless you can call sending the teacher a photo of your cooking homework online. To be fair there does seem to be an outbreak locally, most of what I hear though, I distill through a filter of scepticism to allow for exaggeration and rumour. The kids at home here, numerous grand nieces, nephews etc are all bored witless as their parents work, there is nothing much for them to do at home

This has been explained a few times already on these threads. They are only pcr tested if taken as a hospital admission, they are not pcr tested when positive by atk and go to home isolation, community care center or quarantine.
in addition the Rural Doctors Society made a public statement saying Thailand is undercounting its official figures by not including atk tests.
it’s basically official number fudging
But obviously a few/quite a few of the ATK end up in Hospital right. And are given a PCR test which is subsequently reported if positive. Official number fudging yes but we don't know how many fall into both groups?

I thought you meant counted the same day, sorry I was not clear. The biggest issue is they don't include the ATK positives in their reportable cases only list it as a possible case, but not reported outside of the country.
Well WHO probably requires lab confirmation of a positive case I would have thought. Obviously they introduced the rapid test without a reporting protocol to satisfy the subsequently confirmed case/highly probably case difference

No that would mean that they would be on the next days or future Days PCR test positives case count, not the same days.
So after being counted once one day on the green bar graph then counted again some following day is not double counting. Strange logic.

Looks like we are slowly trending to possibly have more testing done via the ATK tests, and the only time a PCR test will be used will be for folks entering the hospital who may have already had a positive test via the ATK kits. Dangerous territory.
If that is true, does not that mean that the daily graph showing the green (combined total) bar might actually be double counting some cases, if so how many? I gather that figure (second confirming PCR test) is not published ?

Yes I went to the local store and convinced her to sell me some. Unfortunately when she runs out the resupply wont come. But then again I know someone working near the border with Sa Kaeo, could always get some that way. I agree just sheer bastardry.

Probably not many from Sa Kaeo on the forum. The builder I used 12 years ago, lived in Wang Sambun which is in Sa Kaeo but I'm in Soi Dao Chantaburi, but unfortunately I don't have his number. I went through the same thing. Obviously there are the companies with the big signs advertising, but they are probably quite expensive. Word of mouth is another way. I also kept an eye out for constructions sites whilst driving around. Eventually we heard of a new estate and I drove in there and spoke to the workers and they said the builder would be coming shortly. Whilst I waited I checked out the house in progress, chatted to him for a while and set up an appointment for the next day in his office where he produced plans and a week or so later we signed the contract.

81mg is what you can buy here, some pharmacies don't stock it. I haven't seen Solprin anywhere here. its 300mg. I was told ages ago, it was preferred but only half a tab

Vanuatu, cheap, laid back, Italy Spain/Portugal cheaper than northern Europe but still Europe

Bitter and angry about Thai society? Or pointing out that when someone tries to compare the UK stats on covid with Thailand then testing makes all the difference. Quite simple really.
Sorry I wasn't talking to you and I fully understand what you are saying, every day

I knew what Thai society was like before I moved here. Being bitter, angry and carping on about it wont do me any more good than banging on about testing rates.

I paid 55k each for two implants in Bkk not so long ago. I also paid 12/15 cant remember for a root canal (4 visits in total) which failed at the last hurdle and had to be extracted anyway. Subsequently the tooth next to it broke. So I've not worried about it since but the two I got were the best thing. I got the feeling that the regular dentist covered up for the root canal dentist who f'd up, because on the last visit something happened, then 2 weeks later when I went back to my regular dentist to get the cap on it it he advised me that it was cracked beyond repair. Shame because until that point I'd been very happy with the Bkk dentist. I wouldn't use the dentists in Chantaburi because they dont speak any English (sorry dont mean to hijack your Chiang Mai thread).

Arguing with an anti-vaccer is like playing chess with a pigeon. It knocks over all the pieces, <deleted>s on the board, then struts around as if it has won. (not my words)

Sydney was basically a next day service it seemed to me on two occasions

Just a bit of practical thinking. Due to various reasons all born out of the pandemic, Thailand will not have many tourists for the rest of this year and well into next. International tourism is going to take a fair while to crank up. Its just not the case that Thailand drops most of the incoming restrictions today and large numbers will be here tomorrow. I suspect that the whole thing will be a drip feed as more and more countries open up, green lists etc. This one is well down the queue with its tardy vaccinations and chaotic rules. Sure the single male demographic may just jump on a plane but not to see shuttered bars. Also expect a few snags along the way as outbreaks occur. I know there is a lot of pent up demand in Australia, people have holidays owing to them but as they plan in advance most holidays for the next 6 months are local.

Appreciate the info. I'll confirm with the ASQ hotel direct once finalised but I think I'm safe to book a mid-day internal flight based on the replies so far.
Are you travelling onwards after check-out? If so, are you expecting to do ASL / Home isolation on arrival?
I'm going home. Apparently the Hotel/Hospital is going to give me some document, I'm not expecting to do isolation at home, if I have to it wont really worry me, I can look forward to some visits from the village nurses. I'll let you know

What does a Thai anti vaxxer, or AN anti vaxxer look like?
in COVID-19 Coronavirus

Israel curve has dipped right down, their vaccine profile was unusual though. Pockets of the community, orthodox Jews, Arabs etc were against it amongst other things. But its nowhere like UK atm
