  1. This year, for the first time, Phetchaburi asked for a map of where I lived. The girl who reviews the paperwork said it was new for this year. Luckily, I had one to hand, just in case they ever asked for one. No request for a photo stood outside your house though.
  2. Last week I renewed my Non-O yearly retirement extension at Phetchaburi immigration in Cha Am. Service was, as always excellent, and the process was completed without issue in less than an hour. However, a few days later I received a call, supposedly from Phetchaburi immigration, asking if I was at home in Cha Am. I had just left Cha Am to visit friends in Chonburi and will then continue on a trip to Chiang Mai with family, so was not at home when the I/O called. I explained that I have no firm date when I will be back home so after a brief conversation the I/O said "mai pen rai" and the call ended. I can only assume immigration wanted to visit my house, but this seems unusual for a retirement extension. especially as there were no questions asked when I did the renewal. I'm now not sure whether this was a genuine call (it was from a mobile not the immigration office number) or a scam and whether i should expect another call sometime later. Has anybody experienced anything similar for a retirement extension particularly wrt to Phetchaburi immigration?

Try JKM medical center in Jomtien. I visited there a couple of weeks ago for a skin tag removal and skin cancer screening. The dermatologist seemed competent enough and prices are very reasonable compared to the private hospitals. I was happy with the service I got. Would be interested to hear any other opinions about the center as it does not seem to be widely known.
  4. NatWest charge nothing for SWIFT transfer via app if you accept 3/4 days transfer time. I recently did this and money received in 2 days. GBP15 for next day transfer. Maximum GBP10k per transfer so 2 required. Always transfer sterling and let Thai bank exchange on receipt.
  5. DirectAsia. I have 2 cars with them. Recently switched one car (3 year old MG5) from Roojai to DirectAsia because quote was a little cheaper, car was valued at a higher insurance price and they offer payments over 10 months with no increase from single yearly premium. They also offer a Type 1 Save option which is excellent if you want an excess. Roojai quoted me the same price as the previous year even though I've had no claims, stating cost of various parts, the age of the vehicle, and economic adjustments.
  6. My daughter had MRI at Prachachuen Bang Na clinic last November. Service was good and appeared to be good value compared to private hospitals. For comparison here is what we were charged for numerous scans. No issues with the image quality. Doctor on site reviewed the images with us for an additional THB500 fee.
