  1. Some good replies from people and some unhelpful ones which you would expect with this question.

You do not say what part of Ireland you come from, by writing only Ireland I take it you are from Eire.

I am not going to tell you what you should do that is your decision alone.

Still that aside, what I did was get my Thai ladyfriend at the time to go to the U.K. Embassy in my case.

I certainly did not entertain the idea of marriage at first, she applied for a holiday visit visa first.

If you are near the Embassy in question Ok! but if not, telephone them first and asked what paperwork is required, usally a lot.

    Every Country has different requirements.

After acquiring a vehicle which you will need for the paperwork, "sorry just my little joke" .

When she has fill out the forms they provide and she has presented all the paperwork that is necessary, it's then down to waiting.

How long that is depends on the Embassy.

To cut a long story short I have been married to my Thai wife nearly ten years, a few regrets sometimes but I would do it all over again.

  2. This has got to be a wind up, are you going drag racing or something ?

I had a Yam FZ1 and used parts that were recommended the recommended oil and

an oil filter that had Yamaha writen on it.

The guy I sold it to, still has it now and does the same.

I stress he hasn't had any problems.

Unless you are going racing which would be better done on a R1 or R6 anyway, modification is not necessary.

It's not a lot of good asking people questions if you are not going to listen.

People who talk about tractors and bikes simular to a two wheeled tractor don't know much about Jap inline fours.

Recommended Oils and Recommeded Oil filter are absolutely fine the rest is just sales talk.

  3. ^

Was waiting for the aftermath. What took you guys so long? I roll with the punches. Bring it on. :P

No punches, kiddo, just check your tyre presures every week , I suggest on that baby 28psi front and 36 rear is well enough, they tend to over do it here inThailand and what you have is a scooter nothing like a real Motorcyle, so do the wheelies if you you can.

  4. Yes ! I have read pretty much all the remarks and I guess you have just become another victim of the motor industry, unfortunate, you have my sympathy.

MoonRiverOasis has a good point about sourcing other markets. e.g. At Toyota it reads on the can " Toyota Oil ! " I can also read Castrol or Havoline ? which I've have seen before.

Here is a few funny things that have happen to me, I say funny because if you didn't laugh you'd cry.

My Vigo which I bought new has been going to Toyota for the three years, only because of the warranty, I paid only for the parts not the labour, cheap I thought and you would think so too ! No-ooooooooo ! what a pratt I have been. It goes to Cockpit now " Excellent Service ", well ! so far so good.

I spoke to Cockpit guy saying you got a lot of Toyota's coming in here and there's Toyota across the road, yes ! he said but many of them come here now.

Oh ! by the way the card " Tansam " I think mentioned, has been discarded by Toyota now, you know ! we were told that when we took my wife's 18 months old Yaris to Toyota's " Without successful attempts of me trying to tell her otherwise " in for service and also pointed out that the door locking mechanism did not shut auto when pulling away, Toyota " Oh ! madam that will 500 bht to have look at and extra costs if it need parts ", Wife " but it's under warranty ",

Toyota " not that part of the car madam ". Come the bill like before with my Vigo, Toyota " Oh! sorry sir we do not take Visa cards anymore", Ok ! muttering under my breath as I went off to the ATM, the warranty has probably run out on " visa's " as well.

As I say I choose to take the two motors to Cockpit now, and by the way got the Yaris problem sorted, 50 baht.

  5. Must renew mine towards the end of next year.....

Thought if I go to Australia next year maybe will do it there... HA ha ha, 'Passports services for British nationals in Australasia and the South Pacific are delivered by the British High Commission in Wellington, New Zealand' as for cost says 338$AU

British Consulate-General Hong Kong......... submit your passport application form in person. For customers renewing a passport: we aim to return your new passport within 4 weeks. This time frame does not take into account any delays which may occur with local post or courier services. Applications can also take longer during busy times of the year. !!

    NOTE both above places state....

Any application being submitted with an old style black passport, as evidence of British nationality, will now be treated as a 'First Time Application' and must be supported by full documentation (ie full birth certificate and marriage certificate) or registration documents if applicable.

Bangkok says the same the price £154.50 (7,725 THB) 48 pages + DHL Hong Kong Roundtrip for passport application only - 962 THB + a letter from Immigration Proof of address, Love this one 'Standard letter in any other language - £73.00 (3,650 THB)' Do you have to have this as well as the Immigration letter will be in Thai ???

Moodrakers some people like to know these things that's what this site is for !

I have just recently renew my passport in chiangmay consulate, you fill out the form and it gets sent to Hong Kong, I paid by credit card and it cost 130quid in Hong Kong dollars, I am not living in a DHL delivery in Thailand and I wanted posted back to me at home, paid extra in baht for that at the embassy. I got my passport back in 16days with the 7months I had left added on. I renew it because Thai immigration Maesot said I needed 1yr and 3months on the passport when I came to renew my 1yr visa.

  6. Well, I've just had 3 brand new Aircons fitted in my home and ever since then I've had a cold and a permanent cough. Does this mean I have Legionaire's disease now?

No not Legionaire's I hope ! The cough, colds and runny nose is what I found when the temperature was being set too cold, I set it now only to be comfortable.

If some of them are not used a lot, clean them every 6 months and the ones you do use, every year. PS. Tiffy's tablets are very good.

  7. In answer to the Question :- No! I do not think it is wrong to pay for sex, that is my choice and my opinion.

People that agree with me may or may not pay for sex.

It is something that is happening in all countries around the world and carry out since maybe population times began.

Maybe I'm showing my age but to throw some humour on the subject, this reminds me of a joke that many may of heard already :-

While in conversation a man said to an attractive lady, "would you go to bed with me for a million pounds", the lady said," well! yes for a million pounds" the man then said "how about twenty five quid then" the lady then quite angrily said "who do you think I am a prostitute" the man said "we have already established what you are we are mearly dicussing the price".

    Here's one for Guesthouse.

The position of prostitution and the law varies widely worldwide, reflecting differing opinions

on victim-hood and exploitation, inequality, gender roles, gender equality, ethics and morality,

freedom of choice, historical social norms, social costs and benefits.

  8. Ok ! get a load of this then.

    Farang

Used in Thai language as a generic term for foreigner, typically used to refer to those of European ancestry

and strangely enough also black Africans.

It is also used and refers to plants or animals that are foreign in origin e.g. Potato.

The word Farang derives from "Français" because the French people were among,

if not, the first Caucasian foreigners presented in the Kingdom of Thailand.

This may be derogatory depending on context.

  9. In answer to confirm information go on Internet site

    DVLA UK

    catagory :- Driving Licenses

Driving licences issued in any other country

    • you can drive any small vehicle eg cars and or motorcycles, shown on your driving licence, for a period of 12 months from the date that you last entered the country, as long as it remains full and valid

  10. As I live in Sukhothai, It would be great to meet up with you guys.

Do I have to move to Kirimat to become part of your drinking club 'Kirimat 4"?

I do like a Chang Beer, so there is no problem there. But there is one small problem, I have read the previous post in this topic and you mention ' the Queen's English' and from the posts I gather that you are all football fans.

That is where the problem lies, anybody that can speak and understand the Queen's English would also understand that football is for girls or gays or lady men.

Talking of ladymen I hope you all have open minds.
