  1. my tot home account has been out since before 6am today and still out. first time in a long time and generally happy with their service. just upgraded to 6mbps from 4 last week.

My TOT connection has been out since Early Saturday. I have really had it with them and have just installed a Novatel "Dongle" on a trial basis.

    So far, it works perfectly.

    Cyberpoint WiFi is even worse.....

How is working 3G on lamai?

  2. There really ought to be a concerted campaign to boycott taxis until they put their meters on :)

    Boycott them!

Specially from the Airport there is the wonderful option of the "Limousine Service"... unless one needs the privacy of a taxi - then pay up for the service!

Expecially at the airport everything is private, the taxi are not even marked.....

People have no choise, and the minivan (still only 150/200) do not run if not full.

So in low season or late flights no choise, 500b private taxi (but in my case we shared it in 3 and it was cheap and door to door).

But when i will leave i will stop the first Songthae and give him 200, private trip....

  3. Correction: Petitions with more than 100 signatures show that he was definitely not the only one.

why party girl not like to party. come on barbe lets go party

Well, like ibiza KPN is know to the world for a party island, so nobody that like to sleep will ever visit it (me too).

With all the logistic problem to move people there for parties i would have choosen the Donsak beach coast area, direct bus from bus station and surath thani airport.. :)

i do not think that Samui is gaining too much for hosting people for 2 days....

anyway it's too late, lake concrete on Samui, the paradise island is a concrete island and KPN is hel_l's island..... :D

  4. if u just need to cross the border and come back. u can go to Satun. or Murmar is closer.

there is another island in malaysia for get name something like Kala baru might be wrong on the name someone will know. they have an embassy there. they stopped giving out visas in penang. last time i went to Hong Kong to make mine. about 3500 rtn air asia from Bangkok. i did 3500 to HK then 1500 back to bangkok from Macau. Macau is defenatly worth a visit. hope that helps. though it is probably too late now

From Samui there is still the cost and worse the time spent to get to Bangkok. For example all Bali flight departs around 7/8 am....

A 450b to hatyai, night shopping, border trip next morning and 450b bus back is still the cheapest and less stressful way...

But last year Bkk air was discounting Hong Kong flight heavily, so who knows, for now all airline are in deep shit...

  5. both pedang besar and dannok(sadao) are easy runs, just pick up a mimibys at hat yai bus station. If you're into an overnighter and like karaoke bars, massage palours, try dannok, plenty of action.

Not totally correct, the big sign at the bus station Border is for padang bazar (shitty place....), and nobody speak english....

the signs at the bus station displayed are for dannok or pedang besar, not difficult to see at all.price 55 baht.

Yes, but if you say the magic word, Border, they will put you on the Padang Bazar, 50b, not to be used after 6/7pm... :)

  6. Yeah saw this most ugly of developments last week coming from Donsak. The entire side of the mountain is a complete eyesore. Disgusting !!!

Yes, i saw it and at the same time a big number of dead fish, with the usual other stuff you find in the water, coke, can, etc...

but never saw so many big dead fish, Nathon seems have a bit of clean water problem.... :)

i did not have with me my 20x camera but i remember there was 2 devastating building project going on on the Nathon side, and the Conrad one is at the end of the south cost.

  7. I used to go to Padang Bessar. Mini bus to the border from Hat Yai

Motorbike Taxis wait to take you through the checkpoints and back again. They will drop you back at the Mini Bus Station in Padang.

They will even stop off at the Duty Free shop if you ask.

That was correct....I arrived in hat Yai bus station and found the minivan on the next platform, it was the only one marked with Border.

ONE PROBLEM: the did not tell me that after 6pm there is no return minivan... :)

stuck in Padang Bazar for the night, very cheap but not recommended.... :D

karaoke bar stops at 2am, muezzin start at 5am....

But tht was the cheapest 2 days border run possible on earth, next year i'll fly to Macau :D

ps:i remember last border run there was shops outside, Padang Bazar is in the middle of nowhere, passport stamp says sadao (thai) changloon (malesya)...i only remeber well the morning border, at night difficult to see around...

  8. I wish they would buy beer in my bar! But you rarely see them in drinking establishments! :D

this could be a big problem in the future,as more and more chinese, koreans, japanese, middle eastern and indians take over from the traditional europeans, americans etc.coming here. However they all like go go's,so perhaps Samui could make it easier for go go bars to spring up.

No, just adapt to the changing situation and for those who have businesses in shops, restaurants etc.....ADAPT and make signs in Chinese, Korean, Japanese and you will thank Buddha you did!

Asian tourism has already more than 60% of inbound tourism and will grow and grow....

    Adapt.

    LaoPo

Ok for adapt, but chinese will never drink the amount of beer of germans or british. :)

and they do not like sun, so no beach. :D

i really do not understand why they go to beach like places.

  9. I help out with the Samui regatta every year. Subway sponsor the event and provide the food forthe teams and the volunteers. By day 3 I have had enough and order the Thai food given to the Thai volunteers. There seems to be a serious lack of consistency in any sandwich ordered. One day it will be nice the next it is missing the mayo or lettuce or even sometimes the meat. I used to use them in London where you could actually get a nice foot long sandwich with what you wanted here :):D I for one will not be visiting the shop. Some things just do not travel well !

    Exactly...

Talking about the adjacent Scoop i had the bad idea to order a banana split....

cost 190b. 3 huge ball of ice cream, san francisco production, no fruit just sweet stuff all similar flavour.

with all the extra cream, syrup etcetera the thing was eatable only in texas by the standard texan, 120kg minimum weight.

cost texas like, half size half cost maybe will sell....

i'll never enter the place again, and it is alwas empty.......

  10. I've been coming to Samui every year for last ten years and I can assure you its as busy as it's ever been. Maybe the year after the tsunami it was busier. Now there are lots of Russians arround. I never noticed them in significant numbers in Samui before but they're here now.

Went to Tesco yesterday, couldn't get over how many Eastern European people there.

Me too, expecially knowing that the only european with money are now only the germans....

maybe some big travel agency give them trips with 75% discount...

  11. ....how about shaving the same face every day, maybe twice,

    isn't that massively boring?

Sure, i shave every 4/5 days....

...so you admit that you are able to live with yourself,

being the same again, and again,

over and over again and still not bored

or do you live only all 4/5 days as well?

No, i'm really bored but in Italy is cold....

In Samui every non bar frequenting guy is bored :)

  12. Seems kosh has it backwards :D

If you create a new account and already have an old account both will be contacted to suspend one and leave the other. If you forget your user name and password its very simple to email support and ask for it back.

Uhmmm, for example i would like to change my name......the alias follow the mood :) everywhere apart Thaivisa :D

  13. "Let's have a party"!

It's not only about developers., making money, money, money selling houses,

it's about having fun and others making money too - gimme a break!

Nobody ask anybody to come here, to stay here and no one is forced to buy a house!

That party was indeed suposedly done to help local schools, but for sure the 2 resort at each side were very happy last nigh.

Although the Vanta is in a noisy place anyway.

I sleep very close but no noise....

What I am missing was the need to pay 4 DJ for computer generated (music), sorry noise...

Ptump, Ptump, after 30 minutes the noise (music) changed just a bit and I went home....

I think a normal brain cannot understand the message, strong pills are needed :)

Gee, in the past they were using real music, terrific era.... :D
