  1. Almost impossible to rent a scooter.

Had eight inquires before lunch today.

    Sorry, all rented out.

Yesss, same in Lamai beach road. 10 days ago every shop full of bikes, this week zero.

I'm curious to see next week, the number of renting shops is clearly exagerated compared to the request.

According to the rent-a-bike-meter © in Lamai beach peak season is just 1 week, this morning any shops have a good selection of bike to rent.

Of course the excessive number of shops hoping to get back what they payed for the new bike could be the cause of the 1 week peak season. Same for too many restaurants, resorts, roads, buildings...too many of everything, Samui need to stop for say 5 years ... :)

Just 2 years ago it was impossible to find a table on end of year on any restaurant in central Beach road, this year before 7pm all nearly empty...

  2. decent, regulated public transport

Agree, the biggest problem of Samui is the mess on the transport system.

Taxi no meter, songtae cheap but going where they like at time they like.

Airport only flight to bangkok....there was a very good alternative, Firefly to penang and they moved it to Subang, useelss place and double the price.

Forgot, last boat at 6pm, no way...............

  3. I believe this is the most expensive film ever made, budgeted at 500 million US Dollars. So the CGI and optical effects ought to be superb. I'm glad Cameon didn't fall into the George Lucus / Star Wars trap of great CGI but a wooden story telling!

Unfortunately he has fallen....there is no story, just bad guys trying to kill the savages....

Some of the Star Wars movie have a incredibly complicatedc story comared to the nothing of Avatar.

I remember Cameron at the beginning, The village of the damned, CGI zero, story 100%.

Like airplane, you cannot have all the plane sellable the 25 december and keep them parked the rest of the year...

I'm wondering how many renting days a year pays back a Click.. :)

At least the big offer on every sector in Samui is keeping the price stable, no more 15% price increase every december....

  5. This week resorts are full, the bar not for rent have more clients and restaurant are sometimes crowded.

Nothing like two years ago when it was not possible to have a table on practically all restaurant in center lamai.

next week everything will be back to normal, that is semi-dead... :)

every Bangkok air flight leaving Samui is full, the ones coming are empty....

it seems that the peak season is now the peak week.

  6. These scams are all over Pattaya as well.

Sometimes holiday-makers (because they are in high holiday spirits) believe the hype and part with cash.

In Pattaya beware the scratch-card-trick, the sweet research girls (who get your hotel name) and the motorbike guys who suddenly pull up along side you and say "Hello do you speak English"

In Samui last year was the sweet tourist survey girl....

She had me filled a survey with high probability of a big prize, a week in a nice hotel i think.

After finished she asked for more info, hotel, phone, i just said my email is on the form, i check it twice a day, more if i can be the winner....

The next day the guy with the girl tryed to have more info from me (they where on the beach street, impossible to avoid), but when they started talking about monery i said my budget is under 1000b per day :) .

  7. No problem to find a room from 23 December and keep until you want. With the exception of the big resort and hotels, most of guest house work on the first-come-first serve politic.

Yes, most of place charge the high season price from around Christmas to January or February.

same for Samui. The times of full bookings even on end of year is gone forever, too many new resorts....

  8. agree with the above post, Red Fox has always done the best sunday roast, so i assume there xmas dinner will match.... but with everywhere , book in advance

yesterday most of Lamai beach road restaurants were empty, like the week before....

maybe all the turists will arrive tomorrow....

BTW where is the Red Fox?

  9. It's not in 3D down here. I'm not going to pay over $200 for a day trip to BKK just to see a movie so I guess I'll miss out on the amazing effects. Crap.

I saw it the first day at 12:40 and there were maybe 10 other people there so I'm glad I didn't pre-book. :D

Gee, thailand is a no go for movie theaters.....

I was expecting full so did not go.

How is the cost of the ticket?

The movie is 95% incredible special effects and 5% script so on a small screen 95% is lost.

Knowing that Cameron is the best one on scifi, i think that with cgi at todays point even the best gets lost with image and forget story.. :)

  10. Your website has disclaimers for everything but that. May be it should be added?

"Once you register an account with TV it will never ever be deleted, not by request, not never, not no way, not no how."

Yes, and using a big size font.

It is very unusual to find site where it is not possible to close an account, they get complains untile surrender....

I see that a mailbox closing is simple that having a forum with empty replay.

But the common situation is this one:

user create account, like thailand, after he sees price decide to go to dominican republic. :)

next year, after recovery from various bullets wound he come back to the forum, forgot old account and password, and create a new one.

if he do not mail an admin ok.

if he send mail to cancel old one he gets banned forever.... :D

  11. Court blocks BA Christmas strike

A strike by British Airways cabin crew planned for Christmas has been declared illegal in a High Court ruling.

    LaoPo

Uhmmm, the Court seems resonable, maybe somebody could try to get a declaration that an half liter mineral bottle cannot be a bomb...

That will save every passenger from buying another 2E bottle after the security check :) ....all around the world...

And of course you will publicly take full responsibility if one does turn out to be a bomb and brings down an airliner full of innocent people all for the sake of a few lousy pennies.

If you want safety remember that people ingest everything (from Colombia....), so an xray is mandatory for everybody....

suicide terrorist are difficult to stop, ask israeli police.

the mineral water scam is simply made to protect incompetent police work....

like the shoes testing, idiots...when in business class they give sharp knives....

  12. there is an overlap from the google search and the mailbox and settings menu.

    see screen shot.

with firefox no overlap but screen messed up.

    post-87559-1261119109_thumb.jpg

correction, with firefox is ok, is the beaking news line that is messing up in IE7/8...

also the various google ad words in the middle of posts sometimes cut out the reply button.

  14. Sorry to be a bringer of gloom at this festive season, seems like some people enjoy killing off "goodwill"! :)

They are striking for a reason and it hits the airlines at the worst possible time.Great tatics Well done I say...

No sane person will go to Heathrow anyway, apart the british living around it....

And the affected airlines can change handler when the contract is finished.

  15. Would be interesting to know which Engines that are fitted, maybe they will change them to see if any improvements can be made , would it be better with Rolls Royce Engines. just a thought not a flame or a dig at a fantastic plane.

No winglets? KLM has retrofitted every airbus and boeing plane with very long winglets at the end of the wings..

3% fuel savings....and they look like starwars fighther :)

  16. They are dirty because the beaches will not be cleaned up until they are sure the rainy season/high water levels are over. Sometime between 15th and 20th.

Have you ever checked out where the majority of "Resorts (?)" along Lamai Beach have thier Raw Sewage Overflows ? Even on the rare days when the Beach appears reasonably clean I'm sure the E-Coli count of the water level would be unacceptable. Beware!

Only saw a couple on the rocky end of the beach.

the one in the image this year seems not used.....

Do they just use very long pipes going far away from the beach like in many other parts of the worlds?

With all resorts still mostly empty i doubt now there is pollution.......

  17. It is funny how quickly people gather to mock and ridicule, but it was I who was left stranded in Thailand when Swiss Air collapsed (people said that would never happen).

My question is not obtuse, it is just a valid question.

That could happen if people fly arabs....

  18. Yeah, I think some islands at the Philippines would be the perfect place for you. Sure, not joking. Take a look at Mindoro for instance.

Nice island, a typhoon every week.....

not sure the killing rate of foreigner is better than Dominican Republic....

Thailand is still a very peaceful place folks... :)
