France is a truly great country, give me a plane ticket and a job and I'd be there like a shot. Only thing that concerns me about France is all the Africans who have somehow gotten into the country, and all the crime, muggings and rioting that obviously goes along with it.
I'd pay a small fortune for a croque monsieur and a large glass of red wine after being in a remote Thai village for so long. And a steak au poivre, oh my god. Isaan food might be good in Bangkok, but the stuff they actually eat in the house is stomach-churningly bad. For all the things I love about Thailand, I would still kill for some decent food because the cr@p they eat here is disgusting.
Right now I'd gladly pay 500 baht for a fresh loaf of French bread. The Farmhouse stuff here is only good enough for wiping dog poo off your shoe. And don't even get me started on the "ham" or the "cheese". I suspect I might need to go back to Europe soon.

Yinn's real name is probably Robert Smith, 69, from Hemel Hempstead. 3 kids, divorced, lives alone. Hasn't had an erection since Maggie was in office, hence the vitriol towards anyone who likes sex.

The Baht can move up and down for all sorts of reasons, and I’m not sure that even the financial commentators fully understand it. It’s been strong against GBP since the Brexit vote, and given the post-Brexit politics GBP has remained weak. Perhaps with Brexit finally coming to a conclusion and the Covid pandemic ending you might see better numbers. In terms of forecasting, not easy.
Wake up and smell the cheese, mate.

The Thai Baht works like this. Keep it astronomically high for a few years so that the elite can buy their properties in New York, Paris and London. Then let it drop, and the elite sell off their assets, netting billions. Sounds insane, but when it's your uncle making the decisions you'd be a fool to not capitalise on it.

Erm. Wut? No corruption in Thailand.

There are at least tens of thousands of family businesses up and down the country, for whom NOT opening the country is a catastrophe. But the elite don't give a rat's ass about these people. It's the nicest, smartest people in Thailand who are being destroyed by the ever-grasping, greedy scumbags. The kind of people who think a billion is not enough. They want ten billion. So they screw people over, lie, cheat and steal until they have it. Then guess what? They want a hundred billion. These people are not human. They are the dregs of the universe.
Every single insect, animal, plant and human being on the planet would be better off if these cheating, lying, scamming, greedy people simply did not exist. Pure greed is disgusting. Why do you want more than you can consume in a hundred lifetimes? Do you enjoy looking down on people who have less? Is this Buddhism?

Yinn wake up. If you think that Thailand has used its superior intellect, organisational abilities, openness and sheer brainpower to "control" this virus then you need to go back to school. They either aren't testing, aren't reporting, or are *severely* suppressing the numbers. Probably all of the above. I don't believe any of the Thai numbers.
Dishonesty is a way of life here.
Frankly it's amazing that western countries believe the stupid figures put out by Thailand about coronavirus.

I've been to Koh Tao many times and always enjoyed it. But my wife point blank refuses to go there. What is the problem?

Yes - if there's no dispute and you both agree then it's a ten minute at the amphur job.
If there's a dispute, usually from her, and she's trying to lay claim to your assets, then it can easily take 6-18 months and end up costing you 100-200k in legal fees. Better to settle out of court if that's the situation and find out what she wants because it may be less than what the lawyers want.

Brown envelopes can literally solve anything in Thailand. And this guy no doubt has the ability to give out some big ones.

What stresses you in Thailand?
Fat, bald ex-pats using broken English on a forum pretending to be a Thai girl.
Then making all the classic spelling and grammatical errors that a poorly-educated Brit would make and hoping nobody would notice.

Critical thinking, forward-planning and situational analysis are things that Thais simply cannot comprehend. Do they want tourism back or don't they? Do they hate western tourists or don't they? If they want westerners' money then why are they keeping a racist moron in the government? They don't know what they are doing.
They just use various committees and subcommittees to keep putting out complete and utter garbage and misinformation in the hope that people will think they are doing something. They are not! They must understand that most people in the world are probably more intelligent and educated and don't just swallow complete and utter rubbish like the Thais do.

What's the difference? It seems that most consumers of mass media are not able to understand that countries with low rates of coronavirus are simply the ones who haven't been testing or have been using fake test kits.

Domestic tourism is just shuffling money around within the country's borders. Big difference to international tourism which actually brings massive amounts of new foreign money into the country. It doesn't appear that they understand this.

Don't say that. This government is very smart, well-educated, generous and loves the Thai people passionately. They've just had a bit of bad luck. Could happen to anyone.

Your visa situation is the one thing you should stress about, unless of course you don't mind being forced to purchase an overpriced one-way ticket back to your home country, and being seperated from all your belongings, friends and partner here, possibly for a very long time.

Opening up Thailand to tourists a "potential catastrophe", wait six months urges Chula doctor

Bang on. And the longer they leave it, the more die hard Thailand fans will start discovering the Philippines (where girls speak English and actually have boobs), Cambodia (where you can get a very good beer for 15 baht) and Vietnam, which has insanely hot girls and is cheaper than Thailand.
They are shooting themselves in the foot - the guys who have alway gone to Thailand are now going to go somewhere else, whilst the high-class tourists they dream of will continue to go to Antigua, Bora Bora and Tuscany. Leaving Thailand bankrupt.
