I got scammed last year on the bangla in the bar with the freezer in it. The scam went someting like this you go in get a beer and if you fancy it go through into the freezer and get a shot. Cant exactly remember the price but its around 250 baht if there is a member of staff in with you which there must be to give you the shot, he or she has 1 as well so your paying for there shot as well. When later on if you go back and youv'e had a few beers 2 maybe 3 are in there with you, and you guessed it your hit with a bar bill of 2-3 thousand baht once you and your mates have paid your bar bill and the staffs freebie.

I went there last night. Huge place with bar etc. upstairs. It looks really nice but unfortunately the food is not as good as I hoped. The menu is the exact same as the Indian in Kata (the one opposite Mee Bar) but the food is noway near as good

So being as I'm usually up all night I'm looking to find some places to get food at like 4 am or whatever.

Currently I know only about the seafood joint at the roundabout and the bamboo (forgot the name) restaurant by the 7-11 at the first chaofa east-west connection road. The bamboo restaurant is not really that good since they are always out of chicken and their larb is nothing special and the seafood place only has good, well seafood.

So where do I get my green curry/tom kah/pad siew/pad thai/etc cravings taken care of at this hour without having to drive to Kata or Rawai?

A couple of recent discoveries for me.

New Italian place at the entrance to Patak Villa on Patak road in Chalong. Same guy that owns one in Kata. Smells great, decent service, and reasonable prices.

I went there tonight and will have to agree with you. I had a pizza and it was really good. Not the watery wet cloth like texture in the center like a lot of pizzarias in Phuket. The owner was really friendly too. He told me he is closing shop in Kata and expanding this new restaurant in Patak Villa.

i need to get new glasses .any advice welcome best deal or service .

bump, I need new ones too but only for driving, so it doesn't really matter if they are horrible looking. Any ideas where to get a good deal?

Hi - my husband & I arrive in Phuket mid Oct for 3 mo. He would like to find other players for singles or doubles. Where would be inexpensive courts with regular players, please, if you know? We're planning on renting an apartment (Kata, perhaps??) as would like to be near beach. Any suggestions, input welcomed.

The thai late night seafood place near the circle is not too expensive and the steamed fish with lime/garlic/chili is ridiculously good. It's opposite from what used to be Mike's Burgers.

We are 4 men going to Phuket 23 september and we gonne stay 3 weeks. Does anyone know of any pubs that arrange quiz nights or pool tournaments? We gonna stay in Patong, but will have no problem going around the island for some fun.

The Green man in between kata/chalong runs weekly quizzes. I haven't been in a while but I believe it's on thursdays

Happy Days on the Chalong pier road runs both quizzes (also thursdays) and pool tournaments (I cant remember what day)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm really looking for restaurants though. For example 'Restaurant X in Kata serves caterpillar som tam' etc.

Go to one of the local markets, you can get plenty of wierd food at the local markets.

I remember seing a Restaurant like this in Rawai. It was a really small place near the end or even past the bend of rawai beach road.

They had menu with crocodile, frog, deer like creature (gang or whatever in Thai), and possibly bat iirc and some other stuff I don't remember. It's worth a look I guess.

I go to Poo's Palm Sauna and Massage - less than a km from the circle towards Rawai, look for an overhead bridge at the local school and turn right immediately.

I couldn't find this. You mean the same soi as where the fresh market is? right after the bridge. the road leading to the stuntshow/patak road?

Can anyone recommend a good massage place in the Chalong area?
