Hi all, interesting topic, I would like to take my Thai GF on a cruise in the med too, Spain, France, Italy ...  There doesn't seem to be any shortcuts for visas,

does that mean she would have to apply for a normal tourist visa to all countries involved?  imagine if she was to do a world tour.. 

any comments would be appreciated and thanks for your time.

Hi all, I have been searching for days on this topic, and can get no decent answer from the aussie gov or Jetstar.

My partner got her visa weeks ago and we are wanting to book flights now. 

The best so fare but not from any official is:

1/ Dont need but the airline might not let her board.

2/ Can board but arriving in Aus it is up to the officials.

anyone know the real answer?

Myself I doubt its needed. 

(reason we dont want return tickets is we dont know when we need return somewhere between 1-3 months)

my reseach is leaning towards the fact that one needs to get and O visa before applying for the RV!

It smells of you know what.... and one does not want trouble later on if so...

There have been several reports on this forum of people changing from an extension based upon education to one for retirement.

If you make the mistake of asking to change visas then you will be told no because that is not possible.

The only way you will get a non-o visa is to make a trip to a nearby consulate or embassy. SEEM THAT WAY, THANKS.

I suggest you at least try to change the reason for your extension before doing anything else.

the main issue of debate is whether I need to leave and re enter LOS and get a different visa (non-o)? BEFORE applying for the RV or not.

I used my bank book multiple times without notifying the bank of change of address. I also got the bank letter for immigration during this time. I told them I'd moved but not updated with bank yet and it wasn't a problem. Of course, it's best to keep it up to date, which I have now. Passport doesn't show address, so I don't understand remark about addresses not matching at the bank.

I haven't done this before,I thought maybe it would be a problem if my address on my TM7 didn't match with my bank letter if they put my old address on it.

The bank letter includes your address? I asked SCB to give me "some sort" of letter with my address on and the boss B says "how could we verify that?"

What makes you think you would not get any interest. That changed many many years ago. You can get about 3.2% on some fixed term accounts (aka CD).

Yes, I found 2.1 % for 3 or 6 months somewhere,,,, or spend it then make sure u have 800K 2 months prior to the next yearly renew right?

1/ Earth/Ground - In the outlets (GPO), how does one check that all the earths go back to the board? No use looking in the outlet as even if it has a cable on the earth it could go anywhere.... I have a 3 bed house and the board only has 3 earths in it so I am highly doubtful....

2/ Safetycut - yes a great thing, went to homepro and they had the 6 unit box for 3950 THB, Vut, with various fixed amps,

this is surely not ideal as one would want to have the amps rating you want for the 6 circuits right? So then i was looking for an empty box one could fill up yourself like a CB box, but the staff were then trying to sell me CB's so I left.

What is the solution? I have 3 Phase so am thinking to reroute the circuits from before they enter the CB's , to the safeTcut

than back to the CB's..... Main circuits I want to cover are : Hot water, Kitchen outlets bathroom outlets..

Any ideas?

I would guess that single phase is enough for MOST houses. If you have equipment that needs three phase that would be a different story. I base this on the fact that a friend of mine has a large villa. He has single phase. He has three fairly large air conditioners, four refrigerators, a large electric water heater and several microwave ovens. His swimming pool has two filters, both about 1,200 watts each as well as a 1,000 watt pump for a jacuzzi. He also has two well water pumps and MANY lights. He is a former British electrician and has no choice because three phase is not available out in the boonies.

Well I am not a household E but have a lot of on time with this. What happens here in LOS, a developer will take 3 P because it is more resellable to most. Meaning lets say he has one account and resells it (perhaps doubles it) being 3P sure costs more but allows him to sell /connect to more... what a great business.. and give a % to the PEA so the suckers cant get their own meter.... roll in the money...

Hansni is correct old AC units and an old refrigerator can really run up your bill.

i have new less than 2 years old AC's on is on continuously from noon the next AM, i run 2 refers new, my bulbs are all the energy efficient type. three out side lights are on all night. My Bar Be Que is electric which I use a lot.

My bill is 5-6 K per month, only 2.5K, this winter without AC.

I do a lot of garden irrigation as well with 2 water pumps.

i also believe in having my AC serviced every six months.

yes, halogen lights are a lot.. simple.. what is the watt rating? 55 w right? so a room with 10 = 5500 watt, dam_n man...thats like 2 hairdryers (2 girls, lucky man) or 2 heaters in a cold country... see? u can replace these lights with 1 W LED not very bright but.. hey..

Guys, guys... this is an old and HUGE debate. Muslims like to follow old ways (male head of family and so on) and sure, for good reason.
