  1. thx for the reply

the land belongs to my wifes mum

it has a public soi running down it and i do not have to walk over other peoples land to get to the soi, the mum in law wants me to buy the land so i can build a house on it, i know i can not own land as i am a farang i know all about the legal maters , it just seems a bit expensive, in fact i typed wrong the 1st time it is for 1/2 rai not 1 rai, the land is just being used to store the normal things like tyres lawnmowers and any other thing that is not thrown away in the rubbish

p.s yes i am new and i cant see where you said to click on the right to follow this topic

but yr help and advice is much apreciated

So, the land your wife wants to buy is already owned by her mother?

Here we go, so do you think is is worth 350,000bt? or have you been told it's a steal at that price?

Don't want to be negative but land up there is not worth much, no water, no electric? It's farm land mate, worth 50,000bt max.

Tell your wife, who I am sure you trust to stop pulling your plonker as she has been found out.

Also, if you were that sure of this golden chance you would not be asking strangers for advice.

Follow your first thought in that it's too expensive an dtell the wife to pack it in.

  2. Briefly:

Assuming your wife can speak some reasonable English,a good option is to find a local College that does ESOL Courses with Citizenship Attachment Materials (which is all important)

Ask them to assess your wifes English,....assuming they estimate: Entry Level 1 (the lowest) they can then arrange to accept her for a ESOL Course and test her for Entry level 1,which will generate a City & Guild Certificate,or a similar formal qualification.

She can then attend the Course to take ESOL Entry Level 2,which is the required progression necessary for applying for ILR. (a step up from her original asessment)

To reiterate: your chosen college must be a College that is Approved for Teaching Citizenship Materials, and able to supply a College Document to that effect,at the end of the course.

Two twelve week terms of 2 hours a week is normally sufficient, but if a further term is necessary, then you still have plenty of time,to 01/04/2014.

As you already know the "The life in the UK Test" is difficult. And is considered to be generally a much more difficult route to ILR,which seems to be what you are intending.

How long this route to ILR remains is anyones guess, the rules seem to be changing quite regular,so there is no time to lose!

You can read about any new immigration laws on the UKBA Website.

Costs of ESOL Courses vary around the Country, £120 a term seems to be average, but may be higher in some areas of the Country.

exactly what I was going to say, it seems the easiest option, maore time as you wife will need to go to classes an dspeak, read etc, reasonable English but the citizenship is incorporated within.

Good luck to you and especially your wife, it must be stressfull but she'll get there.

    Regards

  3. I emailed them earlier, unfortunately on my arrival date they now say they are too busy to deal with me! Here's to joining a queue. Ah, what a lovely thought after 11 hours on the big bird!

Never mind, the 70 or so extra riot staff will sort things out I hope by next week.

  4. Hi

There is a company called Bangkok Flight Services. Google them, 700bt meet and greet fast track. No electric golf cart but can be arranged for you.

They do the usual, meet you at aircraft doors, take you to immigration, get bags and through into arrivals.

    700bt.

  5. Hi

Ariving in BKK nexy week from LHR about 4pm.

With all of the postings and delays entering BKK is it worth paying the 700bt for a comoany to fast track you through?

Also, if you do pay but then need to queue I doubt a refund will be given!!!

Any opinions? My company will pay the 700bt but if I still need to queue it's not worth it.

    Cheers

  6. Don't disrespect plumbers mate!! ;)

But you have to ask, if you can't get through a degree course how will you get through a masters?

I think teh OP obviously is thinking about the 'quick' route which in my mind tell me exactly what kind of person he is.

And, yes, i am a qualified plumber!!!

What makes you think you deserve to pursue a Masters Degree if you didn't even put in the time and effort to get a Bachelor Degree?

Or is your attitude "everyone else cheats, so I might as well too"? If that's what you think, you're wrong. There are many, many of us honest folks out there who have been working for years and years with an honest bachelors degree who could possibly get better jobs if we earned Masters degrees, but for lack of time or money have continued doing what we do without complaining.

You'll find no sympathy from us.

I absolutely agree. My bachelors was cheap and relatively easy, but my MBA cost a bomb and was hard, hard work . . . It really pisses me off when apprentice plumbers or painters (just as an example) think it is ok to cheapen university degrees.

Added t which, I doubt on-line degrees can be verified and that a well-known private University even in Thailand would be fooled by one . . . anyway, wouldn't it be obvious the cretin with a fake degree - especially post-grad - is a fake when he can't tell the difference between their, they're and there . . . among many other things?

  7. Hello All

I am think of staying at the Amari Don Muang.

It used to be 6000bt+ per night but alas internation moved to swampy and so prices are low.

Basically, as I haven't been there for years can anyone assist me?

Has anyone stayed there recently? If so, how are the rooms, pool, etc now?

How long from Swampy to the hotel? Taxi cost?

How long from the hotel to Suk area by taxi? How far from nearest BTS? which station? Any street food vebdors around there?

I want somewhere out of the way, but not in the middle of nowhere and the hotel used to be great, 10 years ago was my last stay!

Any opinions, assistance with the above greatly received.

    Thanks

Just because you are now finding out you could've got a cheaper fair there is not need to be rude. I did put sometimes and rarely in my post.

Look up what these words mean.

As someone else stated, they are last minute and fixed.

Also, you seem to question what TG webiste is? TG is Thai airways flight code. If you enter Thai Airways .com and go to their special offers page, which I happened to do yesterday you will see what theri offers are, I think, if I recollect, they had LHR - BKK rtr a £443 (unfortunalely I couldn't find a date for this price).

So, what I would say is wind you Brum neck in, get a job, and stop drinking and coming on here with your anger problems.

If you look on teh Thai website, sometoimes and I did say rarely, they do deal, very cheap. I hav eseen a one way to LHR for 10,000 before, 100%.

I am not a dreamer Rocky, but, since you want to screw those that help you I hope you pay through the nose for a flight, can't be bothered.

I would suspect that those fares, on the Thai Airways website, are only for last-minute flights leaving just 1-2 days later, but they do sometimes come up IME.
