  1. addressing the visa issue would be a good thing for anyone that has info, please post!

If you plan to do your extension in Bangkok, you can not do it this week.

I am under the impression that you have to renew your visa before the day it runs out, on the day, or on the next business day if it occurs on a public holiday. But I am not sure how it will work if the public holiday is for Bangkok only.

Try to call immigration - if no answer send them email or fax (bring a copy with you) asking about your renewal - I would say Thai Government is being embarrassed enough and will be tolerating short overstays / renewals... but do what you can to contact them.

  2. BTS Nana has soldiers full armed (M16-Galil) in any corner and down to soi 11

GALIL is a copy of AK-47 made by Israelis, but haven't seen any in Thailand. The soldiers are using Tavor - IMI made piece of crap, HK 33 and mainly M16 A1 (ex Vietnam war).

  3. good luck - by law airlines give you compensation for lost luggage if indeed it can't be found. Also small stipend for clothes. Other than that the airline does not owe you anything.

If business is that important I would suggest those that travel bring what they need in a carry-on just in case.

There are more than just lost luggage - I don't want to discuss all details on the internet, just looking for an experience awyer who will be willing take up the case - so far no reply :)

  4. It is very, very, very difficult to sue in Thailand. You must pay the lawyer up front and they don't get a percentage of your settlement. It is very eay to appeal and keep things hung up in the courts for decades. You are much better off cutting your losses. If you were dumb enough to have over $10,000 in propert in your luggage then I'd say you learned your lesson. If your valuables were $5000 or less, cut your losses and mov eon because you will end up paying your lawyer twice that to just get things moving. Don't be a fool.

    Yes...Peter is 100% right...

The problem is regarding a group of businessman traveling first class on Emirates - because of lost baggage they missed some important meetings etc. the case is not get rich on this case - I understand even if they win it will barely cover the lawyer expenses but this is more personal to show that the airlines just cant say "we don't give a ...... about that"

  5. Hi guys,

I posted this in Bangkok forum because I'm looking for an International Lawyer to sue Airlines over lost baggage and consequential damages.

The lawyer should be based in Bangkok and has experience with international law and regulations about airlines and damage claims.

Please PM me and I will send you more details.

    Thank you

  6. Just for your information - one pallet holds 8 crates each with 10 guns - that means one pallet = 80 guns. I uploaded some photos here http://pbckt.com/sB.wC9

On the photos are Czech made SA58 - a bit similar like AK-47 - in a long-term storage. M16 and other weapons ale stored like this too.

In case someone wants to steal 6,000 guns you can do the calculations ...

  7. I'm selling 60 sqm 2 br apt in the center of Sathorn (Chan rd.) - since I moved there 3 yrs ago there are about 3 foreigners living there - the rest of the tenants are Thais. Not a slum, very near Tops & Tesco and 2 km from Central Rama III. If you are interested PM me and I will send you more info. The price is 3,7 mil THB fully furnished including w/machine, oven, fridge, TV, sofa, home office area etc.

  8. I have WP and a good salary here so I wanted to apply for Credit Card - I contacted Bangkok Bank, provided all documents as requested by them and after 5 weeks they say the need "security" deposit for several months and said it's standard rule for foreigners. I'm a bit pissed off because they didn't mention this before I apply and to tell me this took them 5 weeks ... so before I chose another bank I would like to know which one is the most "foreigner friendly". Any experience wellcome.

Personally I was considering Citi Bank ... have anybody recently applied?

  9. If any drugs are found in your system (without possession) for whatsoever reason be ready for following:

    - arrest, jail

    - transfer to court

    - fine to cover expenses of police and court

    - deportation from country (on your or embassy expense)

    - lifetime blacklist from Thailand

Above take from 3 days if you cooperate to several months if you not. Worked at embassy so take it serious!
