  1. Hello,

I have a 2 years rental agreement in a condo in Phuket. Nice condo with swimming pool and everything. I have stayed in another room for almost a year, in the same condominium. No problem, then I have 'upgraded' to a better apartment which is quite big with a plunge. After 3 months problems started. They have rented other apartments around mine to young guys whose make lots of noise at night, like loud music, screaming, hitting, slamming doors, and so on... they stay few days then they leave, then they rent to others, same problem... i am getting crazy! I asked them to move me in another quite place, I know they have other rooms. They are deciding what to do, but they told me if I leave and go in another condominium I will lose my deposit.

is it right? I need to move since I do not sleep at night! I am not willing to move but I have to I can't live like this.

is there any right for a lessee? Is it not my right to sleep at night? What can I do? Thanks

  2. Yes, I agree with you.. I don't like pattaya, my idea is to find a place between Bangkok and pattaya where there is a nice sea view. I lived in Phuket for almost 4 years... Don't think it is so special at all... Some nice view but not nice condo at all... And also life is getting worse and full of stupid guys coming just be have fun and get drunk...

Maybe I will move to Bangkok in a nice luxury condominium...

  3. Hi,

I am living at The Bay Cliff in Patong, Phuket, in 134 sqm with balcony and plunge. But here is becoming too much noisy and I can't sleep at night.

I am looking for an alternative, the place is not important, it can be everywhere in Thailand, I just need:

Nice view, sea view or other nice views.

At least 2 bedrooms, 100 or more sqm

Modern style, I hate old style

    Possibly with jacuzzi/plunge

If nice solution I can make a long term contract, 2 years or even longer.

    Price around 60,000/70,000 per month.

I have references here in Phuket.

    Thank you!

  4. Some of my favorite in Patong:

    • A other place that your Thai companion will enjoy very much is the MK restaurant at Jungceylon, good food, medium price. I forgot to mention that the roasted slice duck is very very good at MK.
This is a Thai style suki restaurant.

Just to be honest, MK is Chinese not Thai food. :) Anyway, I love it, and I really do believe that the Gold MK is much better, especially for crispy pork, and roasted sliced duck! It also have salmon, oysters and other seafood which is not available in the standard MK at Central.

  5. Hello,

I do this regular you can go in any BANK branch and ask money advance without using the pin it is common. Just give you passport and then you can get money. Very easy. 5 minutes, you get the cash with you.

i tried at a SBC and was shot down for not having a pin for the credit card. i will try another bank. what bank have you used with success?

    thanks.

I did it also in some SCB branches. You can go in almost all the big bank branches around. I advise to use one in a big shoppig center they are used to this kind of operations.

  6. Uhm.. sounds interesting but I live in Phuket and I do not see many HSBC around... (maybe no one) ... And also their credit cards are not too much attractive... I'd like more the Beyond Platinum from SCB...

Anyway thanks for this information :)

There is only one single HSBC branch here in Thailand, which is located on Rama IV at 999 Abdulrahim Building. Very arrogant staff and we only use them for our Biz Banking these days. I banked with HSBC since 1992 (HKG and US) and couldnt be bothered to work with them here in Thailand.

SCB is the way to go in my opinion. Works pretty good for me. Just an example, I made a booking for the 3 of us to Europe on Etihad over the internet. Everything was confirmed and paid with my SCB Card. It was 1124pm at night. 10 mins after my booking I received a call from SCB Customer Service asking me in proper english if everything was ok and if I am glad with the service and if I would like to pay off the tickets in 6 installements at 0%.

I am a Farang, have WP and Visa since early 2008 and did not pay any deposit. My card has a 200K THB Limit.

Wow! That sounds so good and professional. I think SCB is a good choice too.

  7. What interest rate do you expect for long term fixed deposit at SCB?

I do not know but I think around 2%, I do not really care too much about it.

To clarify, do you still need a work permit in addition to the deposit? I've been here for over four years, I own a condo and a car in Bangkok and I pay taxes here (for dividend income), but as I'm not working (nor retired) I haven't been able to get any Thai credit card. I have only ATM cards.

Amex in Singapore was quite helpful and said I could get a Platinum card there for a $20,000 bank guarantee, the bank then said that I need to deposit $20,000 but they will pay no interest, just charge me 1.5% more annually for giving that guarantee. Sigh.

Regarding WP, no you do not need it. If you would have one you get a credit card without put a fixed deposit at the bank. They ask you the deposit for guarantee.

Amex in Singapore: Sounds good but how much credit line did they give you? The same of the deposit or less?

  8. Hello,

I wanted to ask if anybody personally has had the experience to deposit an amount of money in a fixed deposit and get a related credit card and what is the limit. I heard about 50%, who talks of 80%.

Personally I will soon want to deposit about 500/600.000 baht into a fixed deposit account with SCB. I hope to get at least 80% not less!!

Anybody has ever made a deposit of more than 100,000 baht and get a credit card? I need experiences. Thanks.

  9. My plan is to go soon to my SCB branch and ask for a BEYOND PLATINUM mastercard, depositing in a fixed account 500/600.000 baht, I hope to get the same amount in credit limit as I was told this way from the accountant... She did not talk about a 80% or 50% (!) of the fixed deposit. She told me 'same same' you place in fixed deposit 'same same' you get in credit line... Hope so... I will keep you updated...

  10. Thanks. I will follow your advices.. I am gonna looking for a friendly consulate... where can i find it? Do you mean I have to go back to Italy? Or where? I heard about malaysia... I am not sure about it... Thanks again..

Hmmmm obviously you haven't been reading all the advices :) if you're going to apply for the Non-O based on visiting friends and relatives (as far as I know) the (only) two friendly consulates are: Perth (Australia) and Hull (England).

    Add Brisbane (Australia)

oh, really? good to know :D thanks...
