  1. I ordered glacier water service.. I paid the deposit, got three crates, and we finished the water. I call them to order again, they ask for the receipt, which I threw away. I don't understand why thats important, but then they ask me for the number of the car that delivered the water.. again, how am I supposed to know this/why would anyone know? I don;t know, so they say there is nothing they can do. We sare stuck, unable to get more water, and have lost the 1000 baht deposit for the cases. Any idea how to get this solved?

  2. We have our water delivered by Glacier water company

24 x 500ml in glass bottles, bht 42,in my opinion the best

    water in Chiang Mai,

Have been buying from them since they first began

operating, and never had a bad bottle,I prefer the glass

    bottles .

    regards Worgeordie

PS Those 3 stage filters might be OK ,BUT they must have there filters ,

UV lamps replaced regularly ,and they are expensive,so find it easier

to let someone else do it.

this is no longer available, it is 300 baht deposit + 56 baht for 20 bottles now

  3. 3bb Premier is by far the most stable internet I have ever had in Thailand, and in my life, i ncluding in the States. I have also had True Ultra-hispeed at the same time and it was reasonable, but disconnected regularly and was often slow.

  4. Want more energy ? stop eating

Foods that rob your energy: meats, eggs, dairy etc.

    Foods for health: fruits

Calorie - heat measurement. Has no meaning for the body/diet

Meat and Eggs are some of the best sources of energy for mankind throughout history. Only recently are they fked up with things that could hurt your energy, like added antibiotics, hormones, bacteria due to unclean conditions, etc. Eat free range grass fed meats and you would be shocked at the difference.

The China study had one "study" posted, I don't have a reference, but when I looked into it the reuslts were pretty hillarious. It said in one study red meat eaters (first of all.. huge difference between meat where the animal eats normally, healthily, and when it eats bullshit that only birds eat, grains. Look it up, the omega fatty ratios get thrown out of whack so badly its scary when they eat that way (Us too?). Anyway,s int he study it said

2x risk of cancer in some population who ate red meat, but they didn't state in the book there was roughly 14x cancer rate increase in the vegetarians in the same area

  5. being nitty, but saying eat as many fruits as possible is pretty bad, they are loaded with fructose. Definitely healthy, but don't go overboard or you might as well be drinking soda.

Avoid all grains/wheat, eat what we have been eating forever, and it will come naturally.

Also, getting good, high quality sleep better is huge.

Coffee is "debatable" but IMO the evidence is far on the side of it being beneficial, just don't add sugars/etc. Drink it espresso or americano w/no sugar/syrup.

Everyone should read Good Calories, Bad Calories

  6. If you are going to eat meat you should limit red meat and try to get organic cuts and get rid of all diary except perhaps low fat yogurt.

You should try to eat mostly fish and chicken and the chicken would be better if it was free range or organic.

In an ideal world a vegetarian diet would be optimal but it is too hard to balance for most people and requires a lot of effort in our busy world to look at everything you eat all the time.

Why? Missing out on a lot of healthy fats if you eat only chicken, of course free range is FAR superior, its not even close. All the omega 3:6 ratios are out of control when the animals eat an unnatural diet (like us). People who have very low healthy fat intake are at an increased risk of stroke, cancer, and overall death.

  7. I think around 100 grams of carbs would be ideal for weight loss, and you would be able to exercise without feeling overly fatigued like you may jumping in and out of keto. Exercising fasted is one of the best ways to lose weight ..

Diet is around 80% of the weight loss process, eating garbage like noodles and exercising won't level itself off. eat some good foods like grass fed beef and some fruits/veggies, my only beef with atkins is it limits fruits/veggies far too much.

Read good calorie, bad calorie. Great book, explains this well and why we are all confused into thinking fat = bad, wheat = good, incorrectly of course.

  8. Had Girasole breakfast, was excited to try it after hearing they are serving breakfast, and their dinners were generally pretty good.

Anyways, today arrived with my girlfriend and we ordered a croissant, banana crepe, and an omelet with grilled ham and bacon.

The croissant came first, was slightly warm and delicious. Good so far.

Then came the crepe, was okay, but very small. Pretty disappointing, definitely not worth the price. Single small roll that could be taken down in one bite with ease, and not that great.

Then comes a plate with the bacon and grilled ham. (Why not serve with the omelet? whatever)

The bacon is cold, not only not warm, but cold. We came at about 9 in the morning or so, so it should have been at least room temperature if it were cooked earlier. I imagine they cooked it many hours ago, and keep them in the refrigerator/freezer until time to be served. The "grilled ham" was four small pieces of the 7/11 processed packaged ham. No thanks.

I called the waitress back after trying the cold bacon and asked if this was the grilled ham and she said "ohhh, you want grilled ham" and I said yes please, and can I have the bacon heated as it was cold. She gave me a fierce look and took the plate away, half expected her to throw it at me. (I was not rude, but not overly polite either, but did not deserve a harsh reaction IMO, simply asked in normal voice.)

We got the omelet, which was fine and good. Then comes back the bacon heated to about room temperature, and the packaged ham had been grilled so it was warm. (Not a real piece of ham, just same pieces heated on a grill, at least it was technically grilled ham).

So I eat the bacon and on the last piece there was a blob of soap on the end which accidentally got there somehow, but definitely effected the overall taste of the food. Didn't eat the ham.

360 baht (had a pot of Chinese ginger tea too, which was not very good but nothing to complain about). First time i didn't tip there, and first time I was utterly disappointing.

Probably won't even go back there for dinner any more, but I was so disappointing with the breakfast and the service I thought I ought to share the story.

  9. I have an appliance from America with this power rating:

    Electrical Requirements 100 - 240 AC, 12volt DC

and Thai plugs seem to be:

    Voltage: 220 V; Plugs A & C.

so, I would think this would be fine to just plug in, but I want to be positive before I do. There is not a lot of good information on this on the internet. Anyone able to confirm for me? Thanks! :)

looks good to go! one time!

Kind of funny, they sent me this earlier/

    Dear Sir,

Now the shpt is on the process. Let me clearify some details. It means you don't have any original hard copy of Medical Certificate from the doctor . Because seem you have only the copy same as you sent by post to me.

Is there any chance that I can get that original copy. At the meantime I will use the copy that you sent by mail to submit at FDA people first.

Pls.see the breakdown of cost for this shpt: ( estimate)

    Import duty 2,482.00 Baht

    Customs formality charges 1,284.00 Baht

    Customs fee 400.00 Baht

    Warehouse fee 674.10 Baht

    Total 464,840.10 Baht.

    hope that is not accurate!

  11. after being on the phone nonstop / mailing/faxing/emailing various people (UPS/Customs/hospitals/doctors) it looks like I might be able to get the mask, so long as my previous doctor is able to mail a hard copy of the "genuine" medicial certificate stating medical necessity. Will keep it posted

  12. I'd check out some of the research on cholesterol, the benefits of statin drugs, and the actual "threat" of high cholesterol are DRAMATICALLY overstated. Having low cholesterol seems to increases the risk of cancer, stroke, and overall death risk, and only extremely high blood cholesterol levels were problematic for females (I believe life expectancy dropped slightly started at 250+). Some docs in Japan are recommending cholesterol-increasing diets to reduce risk of cancer, etc. Good discussion in the book Good Calories, Bad Calories. http://www.second-op...rol_myth_4.html
