  1. I have been to BB half a dozen times in the past 18 months and have always enjoyed the food and the ambience. I first went in for the lamb shanks. Excellent I have to say. Can't say I have had any bad

experience there at all. Nice to sit at the big tables or at the outside counters watching the world go by being served by pleasant staff.

    Cheers

  2. Hi David. You should give HH a miss over Sonkran as its a nightmare. Try something different and travel 100 kms south to beautiful Prachuap Khiri Khan. Granted it doesn't have the huge selection of restaurants that HH has but it is just paradise.

  3. You hit the nail on the head Paul, I drove into PKK for the first time on the 5th of January last year. We instantly fell in love with the town and in March my wife and myself relocated from Ubon Ratchathai to Prachuap. Yes it has stray dogs like any where else but it is a super clean town, beautiful beaches that you can have to your self, cheap seafood and the list goes on. The local Thais and Westerners here are very friendly and always willing to help. That's my view on this beautiful part of Thailand.

  4. Thai food for any meal is an invitation to an emergency room ! Why do you think the first 20 shelves in any Thai pharmacy are filled with stomach medications ?

Then don't eat it! Thai food is a taste sensation. Still need the Western hit every so often, but even then it does not have the multiple tastes that Thai food can provide.

  5. I don't think it is dead as some have put it. Yes it's a little quiet which could be a combination of a number of things such as the exchange rate for one. I live in Prachuap City and there are no shortage of tourists here as the season starts up. Regardless of the drama's that Thailand has on the political scene, people still love to come to this beautiful part of the world. Keep a positive outlook and all will be good. Lets face it, even if your not in the tourist business, if tourist come it boosts the local economy and in turn that must help even the guy sitting in the pub on the corner.

  6. Shouldn't adults be immune to this from vaccination or childhood infection?

Adults are definitely not immune to it. My wife has just spent a week in Bkk Hospital Hua Hin with it and as an adult it much worst than having the virus as a child. She had a temperature of 40 for a day or two and it was not nice. I thought I had it as a kid and when I asked my 84 year Mum to assure me I had it, she said....Hmmm I think you had it. Or was it your brother. Guess I will find out. Cheers

  7. So they hope a floating football pitch, will make people forget about the Koh Tao murders??

Clearly no end to Thai stupidity in sight!!

Congratulations on a very wellwritten and easily understandable OP!! NOT

You should take a look at the story of the Payee football club and what they did before you be so critical. Why speak so harshly of the Thai's. Are you so perfect?? Your very short sighted.

  8. I contacted 123 Parking (thanks Keemapoot) and they are super expensive. Only do monthly or its a hourly rate of 20 then 15 then 10 baht a hour. My wife came up with brainstorm, though I scoffed at it saying they would never do that...ummm wrong!. We are booked in at a hotel in Lumphini on the 31st for one night. She called the hotel told them we are booked in for the 31st and can we leave our car at the hotel from the 20th till we arrive back. To my amazement the reply was yes of course no problem. Job done!!

    Thanks for the other suggestions.

    Cheers
