I am a regular visitor to Saint Louis Hospital in Sathon. There last week in fact. I see Doctor Somboon who is trained to find any BCC or any other little nasty that crops up. As an example I had about 15 keratousas burnt of with liquid nitrogen and a suspected melanoma cut out on my leg which required 5 stitches. I received a email yesterday stating all is good after lab report and the bill was 5500 baht. I have been seeing Doctor Somboon about 5 years and highly recommend him.
What ever you do don't let your local guy in KK try and do it. He will do the old style and cut way to much out .
Good luck.

I have a Rossmax that I bought from a medical supply shop in Ubon and it works a treat. I think I paid about 1800 baht for. Probably not worth fixing your faulty one.

1169 gets you a operater that will direct your call to which ever service you want. No idea if they speak English though.

Sure thing. The company is Uteeni.com and their email is
[email protected].
They only sell the best available which my skin doctor issues called Brymill.
The units are not cheap at around 35000 baht. I checked in Australia and they are the same price. I have decided to buy one as I live in Ubon and the trip to BKK is a nuisance. I have been using dry ice from Swensens till now but dry ice is not cold enough. If you need any other info please pm me. Regards john

Most restaurant will promote it as Pon Yang Kham beef as opposed to import or regular Thai beef.

There is a Pon Yang Kham branch at Sukhumvit 33 next to Villa Market. Just like a regular butcher back in Australia with their meat on display in the front of the shop.

Why make a bad news story from someone who is trying to do the right thing. My wife is about to offer free English lessons to those kids who want to learn in the village. At her expense. No other motive...just wants to help a little like this guy. Is that wrong!! Give him a break!!

I am a former owner of a business in Ubon and I bought from Pon yang Kham many times. You can fax or phone a order to them, transfer the money to them and they will pack in a foam box and put it on a bus for you to pick up at the bus station. Simple as that.

Spago for Original Italian food and pizza, Peppers for great breakfast and German food, Outside Inn for Mexican plus a great hotel and in the evening if its a bar you like then perhaps Wrong Way or N-Joy are the places to go to.
Enjoy your stay.

Good luck to both Franco and John. Looking forward to bringing guests to the new location. Downtown Ubon needs sprucing up. For far too long this area as become a little run down and in some parts a bit seedy. In the old days all the good restaurants were located in and around the central park. Hopefully the opening of Spago in the Yuu Hotel is the start of a rejuvenation of the area. My only concern is can Ubonites afford to eat there?
This is a little off the subject, but many of these new small hotels that have opened in Ubon in recent years have very short names. Perhaps they are easy to pronounce or maybe the owners ask their children to think of a name quickly. Some examples- B2 hotel, V hotel, T3 House, A+ hotel, 168 Studio hotel, De Proud hotel, Better Place hotel, The Rich hotel, Eco Inn and now Yuu hotel.
Thank you Michael. We look forward to seeing you and your colleagues in Spago in the near future.
The new Spago as you mentioned is located at the front of the Yuu Hotel with ample parking and a new look for the area. Spago will have its regular pizza and pasta dishes that it is very well known for plus a new menu that will feature many new dishes and a new fresh look for lunch and dinner at very affordable prices.
As Memock mentioned we are having a modern temperature controlled wine cellar that will stock a wide variety of wine from around the world plus a few more surprises.

PR9SK..Go with your heart. I have been here in Thailand for 10 years and 7 in Issan. Its what you make of it. I live in Ubon Ratchathani and Ubon is a wonderful place to live. If you like the bars etc then you can get on a plane and go almost direct there. After you get your rocks off then head back to the real Thailand. I am 60 years old and I really wish I came here 20 years ago. I live a normal life with my wife and could not ask for more. I have a nice house which in Australia would cost a bomb and live a very happy life and in Ubon. There are many terrific activities as the local Hash Group, cinemas, pubs, a ton of restaurants, great friends and the list goes on. I see a recommendation by Michael about a good position at the biggest university is on offer so there are job prospects for you. My personal feeling is... if you don't give it a go, then at some later date maybe you will regret it.
Go with your heart. All the best.

As you said. I must be just you. I have lived here over ten years and taken countless taxi journeys and may have had one or two that got lost. If you get a taxi from the airport there is a 50 baht surcharge. Try getting a taxi in your country for a 30 km trip for about $12.00. I thing mostly it is a great service.
