  1. I can't help you with the repairs. When repairing, pay attention to the subfloor moisture. Timber floor tiles pop due to moisture stress. If your sub-floor (concrete I supposed) is not fully dried, next to bath room etc, the floor tiles take in moisture and dimension changes result in tiles poping. So just don't replace but locate the problem.

  2. Protestors will not be too perturbed. They are used hardend northerners. The well heeled and middle class will be the suffer and counted as collateral damage by the government. Another poorly conceived plan and will only harden the Reds resolve. When will AV learn that bilateral actions are ineffective. Negotiate!!!! pseeee

  3. Payback! Is it what's all about? Already the PM erred on calling the protestors terrorists and made it worse by sanctioning a coup. Blood will be shed and Ahbisit will go down in history as a blood loving lunatic; not the military. There is still time to negotiate and not be blindly stubborn; including the Reds. The Nation will also go down as an advocate for blood thirsty regime.

  4. Really quite simple. Work the ground with a rake or something and buy fertilizer to spread. You can easily buy grass which comes in 12" square. There are the usual wild grass type and a shorter grass from Japan?? Cost about 10-15B per piece. U can buy fertilizer from the same grass vendors. Lay them on the fertilizer & water twice a day. If the grass survice after a week, it will grow.

  5. I suggest you check the flight schedule of Nok and I 2 Go. If they have fights pass midnight, the airport must be open. Anyway, the airport is quite big and if you really need to hang around, I am sure you can wait outside the building. Most resturants are closed from about 2200 though and the nearest hotel is almost 5km away .

  6. I don't have your direct answers but just wish to bring up my own experience. Like you, I moved into new house and experience water shortages many times. However, you need to know whether the shortages are due to low water pressure or something else. In my case, the estate experienced a housing boom and the large number volume of water servicing the all households; I will not get the water.

For this, it is really a simply job. Went & bought myself a Hitachi pump (most reliable) and a 1,000 L ss water tank. Any plumber would know how to contact the pipes and the tank. I actually paid only 500 B; not inclusive the PU pipes which I bought.

    Good luck.

  7. Really not much will affect Thailand. The bubble is mainly in real estate. Thailand do not export a lot of building materials to China. The countries that will most hit will be the hard commodity countries like the Middle East (oil), Australia (ore & copper) etc. We can expect hard commodities prices to decline. In fact a liquidity squeeze will be good for Thailand in terms of competing products like garments, shoes, toys etc

  8. As a Russian you get free visa exempt entries under a mutual agreement between Thailand an Russia. These will not change that soon, but nobody can predict the future.

However, for your first visit you might want to get a free tourist visa from a Thai embassy or consulate. The airline might not take you with them without a visa or proof that you will leave Thailand within 30 days. They are required to check this.

If you look around a bit and depending on your location you should be able to find a place to live in that price category.

Typical rental contract in Bangkok is 2 months down payment and you can pay month-to-month. 1-1.5K may not get you 2 bedrooms in the city central. Perhaps on the fringe like in BangKapi or Lao Prao. In use to live in a condo call Supalai Park in Phahanyoltin, 0ne bedroom, area about 50 sq meters for B18,000. This is near trains and 5 km from city center. This info for your estimation. Hope this help.

  9. Not that hard. Few tips here:-

    1. Only morning can you apply visa - 0830 - 1200. They don't entertain application in the afternoon. Afternoon only for visa collection.

    2. There is a standard form for applying. Made sure yu have full flights detail i.e. don't go when you have not confirmed your flights

    3. Bring along relevant documents like company invitation letter, school acceptance etc

    4. Complete the form, get a ta number & wait for your turn. Submit to the counter lady and she will review application and if all in order, give you a red form for collection the next day.

The embassy is at Orchard Road next to Lido Cineplex.

  10. I thought Phuket was supposed to be full of warm and kind hearted locals who got huge pleasure out of serving the local tourist throng.Big spending tourists in grossly over priced third world resorts like Phuket and greedy'importe locals dont mix!!! The tuk tuk situation will never get better because why should it???

50 B to most tourist is peanut money but to the tuk driver, it is food for the family. No wonder he is angry enough to resort to violence. Foreigners should know better than to pick on the poor. Price was agreed and a contract sealed. No court will defend you. What you expect? That the driver will allow you to take food off his family? Be sensible & smart.
