I had a similar exasperating experience in Aranyaprathet. Could have strangled the guy! I ended up going to a service in Pattaya. Expensive but damn well worth it. Will never set foot in Aran office again. Bloody never!

Just a quick question do the agents have to be in the area where your immigration office is or do people use them anywhere and who are the recommended ones to use thanks

this takes time to learn on each idiosyncrasy the bikes have, knowing your limits of your skill set is never considered when a purchase is made.
It should be mandatory to do a track riding day that teaches how to look through corners, that one day lifts the skill set so much, dealers and governments should be proactive in coming together in this,
18 years to get a 250cc licence and have a years experience riding on the road, + a track day.
19 years to get over a 250cc licence, a track day as part of the package on purchase of the SAME bike, Demo bikes are available they are just not used in the all encompassing way from the dealer and to the purchaser.
Just drive anywhere in Thailand, be it in the city or in the provinces every day and you will see the problem, it's not going to change until the 70% of the idot drivers/riders change their attitudes and skill sets. When they realize there are other people on the roads beside themselves and that they are not gods gift to driving/riding them maybe (but highly unlikely) things might change. But then again you can't put brains on dummies or educate mugs but I'm sure there will be some paperwork or rule involving money that can fix it (pun intended).

Not what you can do if they insist on you having the affidavit. The rules clearly state it is 2 or 3.
Perhaps get the bank statement (in Thai) and show it to them.
In a nutshell going against what they say can only create more problems and I think not worth the headache as they have already made their minds up on what they want. I understand what you are going through good luck.

hope you don't mind me asking...just wondering what the NZ embassy required in order to do the income affidavit and who/what is MFA...thanks
For a statuary declaration at the NZ embassy what their actual requirements are I'm not sure as every year I have always supplied my bank statements showing pension deposits and Thailand atm withdrawals every 2 weeks and then sign and swear under oath on the statuary declaration.
Cost is 900 baht and 500baht for certified passport page.
MFA is Thailand ministry of foreign affairs.

What is your plan for this year considering you got knocked back for the extension?
They told me to open bank account and come back in 2 months with thai bank statement showing 40,000 deposit from overseas and they will accept that so will do that method for this extension but will change to fixed deposit amount or elite for next years extension unless we decide to move on.
-
The frustrating part is the time involved in traveling to the embassy and the MFA completing everything as per their rules and requirements only to have it brushed aside because someone choses to make their own interpretation.
But what other choice is there but to adap to want they want so will do the transfer to thai bank account this year and consider alternatives for next years extension or elite option. Thanks for all the replies much appreciated.

Actually it was foreign bank statements showing pension deposits and withdrawals in Thailand every 2 weeks but I suppose even that would not suit your agenda.
Also I dont make the rules regarding the documents regarding the income letters I just follow what is the law made by immigration and what they allow but found out today each office do what they like but thanks for your input.

Every year I have always supplied the secondary information even if not requested and as for marriage extension I supplied 2 copies of everything but was told only need to supply 1 copy as it will be scanned into computer.
Just tired of different rules for different people when you do it by the book as per their rules. Wife not impressed by them either after today.

The problem seemed to be that the person refused a hand written statuary declaration done at the embassy with secondary proof attached and certified by embassy and Thailand MFA which is how the declaration are supposed to be done unless there is a new way I don't know of.
-
Secondary proof was provided as per every other year with pension details but was not even looked at.

Thanks ubonjoe that is what I explained to them but they just would not listen or accept, they only wanted to push the transfer or deposit method and readily gave free certificate of residence for new bank account. I have been doing it this way for 7 years at 2 other immigration offices who went by the rules and always understood and accepted the embassy declaration as they should.

New Zealand embassy stat dec certified by MFA only 4 days old and Saraburi immigration
-
Question - has immigration decided to not accept embassy statuary declarations of income with pension information attached for marriage extension now as happened to me today.
Also told money transfer per month or fixed deposit was what they wanted.
Any information or link to actual police order would be much appreciated

Hi can anyone tell me if the new immigration office has opened in Suphanburi yet and if so where its location is thanks
-
Ok that seems to be the best way as even though we are still married I don't think it will be possible to get her to go to immigration at renewal time, might have to take the 2 hour dive to immigration and have a talk to them, thanks for the advice

Some more details - legally married 7 years and am legal father of my younger child my other child is older teenager but I a not the father but have been for last 8 years ( normal situation here teenagers natural father long gone with new family of his own ) but he is now my responsibility. Wife and I still married but she has done the disappearing act after being away for a period of time due to her troubles ( the normal trouble thai ladies seem to get into) so am in the situation of being single parent with 2 children to raise and home to take care off so need to work out what avenue to take when my extension renewal comes up in a couple of months. Can I change to caring for my child or do I change to retirement option as can meet the requirements for that if needed?
-
Ok thanks for the replies but what if your wife has gone walkabout and left you at home to look after the children and does not want to be contacted ( she got herself into trouble and as per normal in this country did a runner) what options does one have ?
-
Hi all my question is - can a person who is currently living here on an extension of stay due to marriage to a thai wife change the reason of stay to supporting a thai born child using all the same paperwork and financial means as per the thai wife option at renewal time. Thanks in advance for all replies

This is the first time I have opted to post even though I have been an avid reader of this forum for many years and learnt alot from it but was having a slow morning.
I have read on Thai visa and seen on television all the problems and complaints about Thailand and the coup and who is right and who is wrong, which color shirt is in charge or wants to be in charge but still each day seems the same where I live, which is about 2 hours north of Bangkok. Over the years we have seen riots, bombings, shootings deaths, elections, marshal law, curfews and coups and yet our day to day life here in this small town I live in has not changed, we still go to markets 3 days a week, we still buy food and the things we require to live on our daily basis, our children still go to school as normal and if we did not see it in the media ,we would not even know it was happening ( so do we blame the media because they tell us all this information we really don’t want to know about, no it is not their fault they are just doing their jobs ).
During all of this, our lives have not changed for better or worse nor have we felt threatened or in danger pre or post event whether it was curfews or military coup or post-coup with military government, our town and it inhabitants and the Thai culture has remained the same and normal, as it probably has in most of the towns and villages around Thailand.
So why is all this happening (mainly in Bangkok and other troubled areas) is it for the betterment of the Thai people and the small amount of foreign expats (or aliens as we sometimes are called and feel like) who reside here or is it so the people can have democracy and a better life that they all wish for?
No it’s about power, money, ego, class and the control of it all- Not about democracy or the people and their rights to democracy given to them in 1932:
“Democracy definition. A system of government in which power is vested in the people, who rule either directly or through freely elected representatives. Note: Democratic institutions, such as parliaments, may exist in a monarchy”.
Since 1932 the elected governments have told the people what they want them to hear and do,
Since 1932 the unelected governments had told the people what they want them to hear and do,
Since 1932 the military coup leaders have told the people what they want them to hear and do,
Since 1932 the activists, the advantaged, the politicians, the ones who tell us they are doing it for the people, have told the people what they want them to hear and do,
Since 1932 other countries, their leaders and foreigners have told the people what they want them to hear and do,
So when do the people get the chance to tell these ones, what they want them to hear and do,-“oh that’s right that’s what is called a FREE DEMOCRATIC ELECTION”, yeah good luck with that one as I do not think many countries have had one of those, and yet the day to day life in our small towns and villages across this beautiful country go on the same, mostly unaffected by all of this commotion.
